This is a new listing for our family. We have 4 other premium properties with 5 star reviews and looking for this one will be the same!

-- Only one mile from the middle of downtown with great local award winning restaurants and music! Just 3 miles from the Biltmore House as well. Many people just drive and park for the day or evening in a parking garage for $5 to $10 and walk all around. Also, some take a taxi for a few bucks and do the same. You can walk to downtown from the home in about 10 minutes!

WEEK

-- Spacious 5000 square feet eclectic four bedroom luxury home on 2 acres with mountains views. many other spaces with beds for 10 to 12! There are two bedrooms with in-suite full custom tile bathrooms. There is another bedroom and a custom sink in the room. There is also a half bath off of the living room as well All of the beds are pillow top and have high thread count linens and lots of pillows for a comfortable, laid-back experience! Candles, live plants, natural soaps available for you to wind down after a great day of sightseeing, hiking, biking or enjoying downtown Asheville.

There is a 4th bedroom that is a open game room during the day with 2 full fold out couches with memory foam toppers.

We have 2 other luxury suites on this same property.They can be rented separately if available and more room is needed. They have separate entrances. There is a one bedroom and a 2 bedroom with a Jacuzzi and custom tile shower for 2. Heated tile floors. That would allow 16 to 18 people to stay at the property comfortably! The VRBO number of these suites are one bedroom #469612 and the 2 bedroom is #439628 . We will do a special combined rate if you want one or both of these with the house. They are sound proofed from the rest of the house.

--Gourmet kitchen with a 20 ft ceiling and 20 ft of skylights with a great gas stove and warming oven It is stocked with a complementary bottle of wine from the Biltmore Estate, cream and bottled water. Asheville has been named 'Beer City USA' and we also stock a six pack of local micro brews. Start or end your day with an awesome Keurig hot coffee or tea provided as well.

-Entire home is decorated with original art books, plants and unique furnishings. There is a 52 inch TV. DVD library full cable with 100's of channels. 2 44' and DVD and 50' and DVD in suites.

--Game room with a regulation ping pong table/exercise equipment that can serve as the 4th bedroom at night with 2 sleeper sofas for 2 more double beds. board games. Extra twin bed and baby crib/playpen can be provided.

--Office area complete with computer and house wide high speed WiFi for your own devices. It is stocked with current publications from Asheville and the surrounding area with many arts, food and craft selections for your enjoyment.

--Private garden with outdoor teak table for eight, gas grill, gazebo with access to two acres of other on-property gardens as well. Also, feel free to walk around the quiet neighborhood with views of a large pond, nature and mountain scenery on a circular road.

--We are available next door and/or by phone if any assistance is needed. We have lived in the area all of our life. We run and own a raw vegan sugar-free chocolate business on-site that you can tour if you would like. Free selection of our gourmet chocolate is included! We also have owned a home care services business in the area for many years so we are available for services you might need such as child or pet sitting, cleaning, laundry or transportation for a fee.

Wonderful Stay

Just returned from a long weekend staying in Asheville for a cousins family reunion. The house was an excellent size for our group of 10 and we all fit very comfortably. My only complaint is that both showers were attached to bedrooms, which was only an issue since our early risers were on couches and wanted to get up to shower before the bedroom folks woke up. Aside from that, a great home and we felt very welcome; including a very quick response to a locked out aunt. Would definitely book again should I have a future visit to Asheville.

Great stay!

Great stay! The owner, Kathy, was attentive and kind. We needed an extra air mattress and Kathy brought one by within hours. She replied to calls and text messages right away.

The house is beautiful and is well represented by the pictures. It was a great space for a large group to hang out. As far as sleeping arrangements, we had a couple in each of the three bedrooms, one person on each sofa bed in the game room, one person on a couch in the great room and one person on an air mattress. The leather sofa was great for lounging but didn't work as a place to sleep. There is also a small couch in the kitchen area that could sleep a kid or short adult. The bed in the king suite was super comfy.

The game room doesn't have doors, and the house has an open floor plan, so light sleepers would probably want a bedroom. There are 2.5 bathrooms and the half bath is the only one that isn't in a bedroom. That made showering a little tricky with 10 people. The only real surprise based on the listing was the number of bathrooms and the fact that the game room is open, so not quite a bedroom.

Although downtown was a short drive, I would not recommend walking it based on distance and traffic on the main road. From the house to the South Slope breweries is almost 2.5 miles. Once you are downtown, lots of breweries are withing walking distance. As long as you have a DD or cab fare, this is a good location for a brewery tour....and Kathy kindly leaves a 6 pack of local beer in the fridge as a welcome.

If you are there for the breweries check out Pubcycle. We didn't do it this time but it looked like a lot of fun in nice weather. There also was a comedy bus tour that looked like fun. Next time! We would stay at this property again.

Oh, I was concerned that there would be animal hair and odor since the property is pet friendly. This was no issue during our stay.

Awesome house!

Pros: Great location, neighborhood, floor plan, outdoor spaces ( desks, patio, and yard), games (ping pong table, corn hole) and towels/linens and landlord. Kathy friendly, promptly responds to questions and requests, and is knowledgable of the area.
Cons: Cleanliness (needs a corner cleaning), water pressure (low when other units are showering) and kitchenware (missing essential kitchen utensils). There are 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms in the main house however listing says 4 and 4 respectively.

Overall 4 out of 5 stars. Good stay for the price.

This property was misrepresented in many ways. Besides being dirty, i.e. dirty dishes in sink, dried food in microwave, refrigerator not clean, oven had heavy buildup of grease. Floors not swept, dusty. Only one queen bed and a pillow was placed under foam top to fill deep indentation. Double bed in second bedroom. Handicapped entrance required going around the house to patio over dirt path. Wood floors uneven in doorways. Owner seemed not care about condition of property. It is not an estate. It is a ranch house added onto with chocolate factory in attached garage. Other suites connected to the one structure. Gardens overgrown and untended. The lack of cleanliness made me want to wash all dishes before using but dishwasher was unusable until owner provided new wheels for rack. The owner had 2 months notice of arrival, so no excuse is acceptable for for the condition. It took 10 minutes for hot water to reach rear bathroom. When other tenant was filling hot tub, we had no water pressure. Under amenities was listed a washer a dryer, which were not available to us for our own use. The top cover of the master bedroom was soiled. Many afghans were available but, animal hair was prevalent on them and on the floors. This property was cleaner when we checked out on June 30 than when we arrived. The positives here was the location, the display of local artworks, large eat-in kitchen. The gardens could be beautiful if tended well. A professional cleaning would make it more likely for repeat business. The towels were nice. I don't think "estate" applies to this property.

Owner's Response: Wow! How to respond? I have been doing VRBO rentals for over 3 yrs and have always gotten great reviews as you can look at the properties listed with this one. I am a nurse and would never have anyone stay in an unclean home. The same people clean this one that clean the others that have 5 star reviews. There was a CLEAN dish in the sink. We do have people with dogs stay sometimes so we may have missed a blanket with hair on it. This a family house not a sterile hotel environment. The back area was over grass and a patio not dirt! We have been doing some reworking of the gardens and we were doing that while they were there. The bed did not have a pillow under it! They all have new memory foam mattresses and clean linens! I had a part over nighted for the dishwasher and put it on myself so they would not have to wait. I provided a shower chair for the guest that needed one immediately. I washed their towels and clothes and brought them back to them the next day. They called me daily with question and stated that the refrig was not working and the shower in the bath but it was found to be "operator error." I can guess this review was made by the relative that seemed upset from the time she arrived as all of the others in the party seemed to be having a great time playing ping pong etc.

Relaxing

Terrific property with a great deal of character. Would have been perfect if the property had been cleaner upon our arrival. We did, however very much enjoy the serenity and character of the grounds. The owner was very attentive during our visit.

Owner's Response: The guests, on the day of their arrival, asked to come 2 hours prior to the agreed on check-in time. When they arrived they decided that they possibly wanted the other 2 suites on the property. We tried to accommodate this last minute request so we immediately cleaned the 2 suites in addition to finishing the other cleaning while they were there 2 hours prior to check-in. After everything was clean the guests decided then not to rent the other 2 suites. As you can see we have rented the suites for over 2 yrs with all 5 star reviews. In the future we will not be able to allow early check-in unless it has been prearranged.
