The apartment is located on a sunny and quiet residential street in Pacific Heights, in the same block where author, Amy Tan, lived early in her career.
The sweeping views from the large living room and dining room offer dramatic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco Bay and are perhaps the highlight of this spacious two-bedroom property. The newly renovated apartment (to sleep six), has an architect’s touch, and includes a gracious living room and fireplace with flat screen TV’s, (and new sofa bed), formal dining room, brand new, complete kitchen, with Wedgewood china, Dansk flatware, and Dansk pots and pans, designed by Quistgaard; two bedrooms with Ralph Lauren linens, new mattresses; oriental carpets; great artwork; two newly renovated baths; and a private laundry.
The apartment has access to a shared backyard, and a wonderful, productive Meyer lemon tree. In the tradition of Alice Waters and Chez Panisse, you can pick your own lemons and make your own salad dressing, for a world class salad with greens from Northern California farms!
Just one block from Union Street, the heart of Pacific Heights, our location provides access to amazing shopping and restaurants, as well as coffee shops, bars, galleries, museums, parks, and churches, a frequent bus stop, and a major thoroughfare for taxis.
The apartment is an easy taxi ride to Union Square and the San Francisco headquarters of Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom’s, Macy’s, and Williams Sonoma; as well as to the Ferry Building and the new de Young Museum. Or you can venture out indeed all over San Francisco, to experience the hottest new spots in SOMA, North Beach, Nob Hill, or the Museum district. About the Owner
Our family has invested in real estate in San Francisco for almost two decades, and one of our favorite properties is 1856 Green, in Pacific Heights. It is a small residential apartment building, on a quiet, sunny street, just one block from great restaurants and world class shopping on Union Street. I can’t wait to be living here full time!
The panoramic views from the large living room and dining room are glorious, with views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco Bay. The high coffered ceilings, large rooms, and wide hallways provide a relaxed elegance to the environment. We have spent the last winter renovating the bathrooms and the kitchen, with high end appliances; choosing Ralph Lauren linens for the bedrooms; selecting and hanging chandeliers; installing wifi and cable TV; and selecting furniture and artwork from our home in Nashville. Voila! After a few daunting moments, it is perfect.

The apartment is very open, lots of light, wide hallways and spacious rooms. Bathrooms are brand new and stocked with fluffy white towels, hair dryers, toilet paper, and even a few nice-to-haves like pretty seashell soaps. Kitchen was a joy to cook in - gourmet appliances, nice china, tons of space. Might only have asked for an easier-to-use coffeemaker and a few steak knives, but with Starbucks and great restaurants just a block away, it was no big deal. Bedrooms are spacious and comfortable with cool, clean linens and beautiful chandeliers. The dining room and living room were also very comfortable - cable, books, a fireplace, plenty of seating - we all felt right at home. In-unit laundry was a huge plus, especially with our little one. And of course, we loved the gorgeous view. We drank it in every day with my little one running to the windows to say, "Good morning, Golden Gate Bridge!"
The neighborhood is AWESOME. It's one block from Union Street, which has a ton of shopping, restaurants, and bus lines that take you wherever you want to go. You don't need a car in this city, but if you have one (which we did for some of the day trips we made), there's a parking garage two blocks away. Street parking is essentially non-existent, but with the garage nearby, that's not a problem.
It's clear the owner, Sherry, takes a lot of pride in this place. She was very clear in her communications for how to enter/leave the apartment; her contract was straightforward; and she was very easy to deal with. The apartment was very clean, and while we were there, she even had the carpet replaced in the stairway leading up to the apartment.
Overall, in our various VRBO experiences, this is another winner!
