Second oldest settlement left on the lake by Branson with original cabins.

Arcadia Coves is the 2nd oldest settlement left on Lake Taneycomo by Branson. It has original log cabins, one of the only Bald Eagle nesting grounds in Southern Missouri, and is on one of the tallest points in elevation in MO. Tourists on vacation enjoy Branson kayak tours and canoe tours and guided history tours through Baldknobber and Al Capone hideouts. You can still see settlers ax marks in some of the logs and each cabin is unique. It has a scenic overview of the Ozark hills, fishing docks, and hiking trails.

A wonderful experience

  • 5 of 5
I spent four days at Arcadia Coves with my wife and 15-year old son. It is a group of cabins, roughly 100 years old, sitting on top of a bluff overlooking lake Tanycomo. If you've heard of the Baldknobbers, this is one of the actual "bald knobs" that gave them their name. It is not a resort. It's a family owned property that has recently been opened to the public, so don't expect a parade of cleaning staff, fancy restaurants, etc. What you can expect is a wonderful experience with wonderful people. Short story: On arrival, Benjamin (the owner) told my son that all of the guests would often gather on Saturday night for a big bonfire, and that he would take all the kids to the woods to find a branch they could carve into a staff (think Gandalf) that they could each customize as a souvenier. When Saturday night rolled around, the other guests had arrived late, and weren't up for the activity. I thought it would be cancelled. Instead, Benjamin built a full bonfire solely for my son, took him on a trail hike to pick out a 6-foot cedar branch, and spent no less than five hours on the porch of the lodge helping him carve it (hard work, I'm not kidding), sand it, scorch it with a welding torch to give it character, engrave it with his name, and laquer it repeatedly. It is a wicked cool staff. Benjamin worked on it into the night alone, long after I dragged my boy back to the cabin around midnight. Try getting that at the Hilton.

Owner's Response: Mr. Richard,

thank you for your kind words and description of our little piece of heaven. I have continue trying to describe this place to new inquiries for guest but it's difficult to explain this place and how the experience with our loved ones is much more valuable than the endless amounts of data and television that fill our lives. Maybe having your description will help to clarify how we are more of a Camp. An experience. An Adventure. I loved your description of your experience and greatly appreciate your kind words. Your words actually brought tears to my eyes that someone finally got it, or at least finally wrote about it. I actually think we have decided to remove the T.V.'s all together so our guest are softly persuaded/guided to reconnect to each other and not be blinded by the bright colors on a screen. LOL :)

It was a pleasure having your family here and I'm great full but even more great full that you all together embraced the adventure instead of complained about it. I feel Nick really felt a sense of pride to have the opportunity and time to become your sole focus while here. I know your proud of him, as well you should be. He is one of the most awesome youngsters I've met in a long time.

I truly am blessed and was blessed to get to spend that short time with such a smart and wise young man and his father to watch the two of you work together in creating art, a piece of family history, stories for generations, from what nature had gave us. You would be surprised at how many parents come here and chose to sit in a theater not speaking to each other.

Our families are now part of the same tribe and you will only find peaceful surroundings and fellowship behind these gates. : )

real life fun

in the past ive stayed at very nice hotels ranging from the embassey located in tampa fla to the animal kingdom lodge in orlando fla. as me and my family traveled and spent a week in kirbeyville mo. we chose to stay at these cute cabins (for a chance of experience) well we got an experience. My family and I didn't expect anything fancy. We arrived and Ben greeted us with a smile. He showed us around explained that the property was ours for our stay. The property was clean, I loved that it was so natural. The cabin was clean. We had an amazing view of the lake from the porch of our cabin. because of the lack of electronics it forced the kids to spend time with us as a family and i feel that brought us closer as a family, which we needed. The staff was helpful and made sure our needs were met. Ben took time to have a fire and widdle wood with the kids. No one takes the time to do that at any "fancy" hotel. today my family and i have memories created at this beautiful "resort" . honestly we'd do it every year if our financial funds provide.

SCAM ALERT- You Are Being Mis-Lead by Website & Pictures

SCAM ALERT- You Are Being Mis-Lead by Website & Pictures

DO NOT EVER SEND THESE THIEVES YOUR MONEY!!! This place is a disaster. I can't say if they are maliciously misleading the public to get business or if they are just SOOO backwoods that they believe they have a nice place, but the website is not a real depiction of this hell hole and ANY positive reviews would have to be falsified by the employees. No one will give this s positive review!

We booked this "Rustic" cabin for a week in June 2014 and upon arrival were sadly disappointed. The month leading up to our visit was also a disaster since part of the package was their "concierge" service which is suppose to book all of our shows and activities for us...No doubt because they all get kick backs for each ticket, like any travel agent would.

Needless to say, this was a disaster too. The cabin was condemnable and would never get a certificate of occupancy anywhere in the country, not even Missouri!

They have been promising for 2 months to reimburse us for half our trip and keep lying about that to us. Ben sounds friendly but don't be fooled!

My family was so upset and disappointed in this situation we had to leave after 12 agonizing hours on a couch covered in crumbs, a bed that had blood on it and full of hairs and the house was full of bugs. The place was so dirty inside we wouldn't take our shoes off!
There was no air conditioning so they put in two window units that didn't do much. The kitchen was a fire hazard. No TV...NO WIFI...NO Radio...This was all after my wife almost stepped on a snake while walking into the cabin the first night.

Everything, including the pool, docks, yards, and cabins were all VERY POORLY maintained if not usable at all!

The only Godsend was that they did not eat us after the sun went down! HOTEL HELL was more inviting!

Good Luck Arcadia Coves! With a business model like that it won't be long now before you too are homeless! You should be ashamed of yourselves! Branson is a very Veteran Friendly area of the country...BUT Kirbyville is not!

Rustic Family Fun

  • 5 of 5
Our family enjoyed the relaxing feel and beauty of this property. All of our needs met and personal touches made it a special get-a-way for us. The property mgr and team treated us like family--happy to help and teach us a few things, too! Beautiful sunrises and warm fires at night. Close drive to attractions, but you get to stay in the hills!

Owner's Response: CarrieAnne,

Thank you for your kind words and I'm so great full that you all had a good time, we all feel blessed to of had the opportunity to spend a little moment in time with such an amazing family. The values and lessons that you as parents are instilling in your children, will last a lifetime. It is really great to know there are parents like yourself that start with a foundation of your family values and build from there..
Let the kids know the rescue pups have all been adopted and have found good homes, and tell them I said a big Hello from Benjamin and hope they enjoy there souvenir from our hike, and if you have time, please remind them of the Osage Warriors that also walked down the native trail. With all that being said, Remember your putting in our garden next year, so let me know what date is best for planting. :) By the way, Do you know how to grow strawberry's. LOL Stay in touch, God Bless.

Not as advertised!

The website says wifi, directv, kayak tours, hikes in the hills but none of this is true. No directv but were told the repairman was coming Monday , we stayed until Thursday and no repairman showed. There is no wifi. There were no kayaks, another camper tipped the maid $20 to get kayaks. She ended up borrowing some from friends- they looked 40 years old, dirty and no life jackets. Our cabin overlook was beautiful but it is on a 300 ft cliff with no fence, i was nervous the entire time that our 9year old would get careless and walk by the ledge. The swimming pool is closed and we were told repeatedly that they were filling it the next day. That was another lie. After 2 days I asked if we could leave early and get the money back for the two more days we had already prepaid. I was told no that isn't possible. I don't understand the mgmt/ ownership of this place. With some work this could be a really unique. Despite all of the flaws we did end up with an ok vacation, we stayed busy and learned to enjoy the peacefulness of the grounds. Ben did help the kids make some walking sticks that are pretty cool. Me gripe is I felt mislead several times. The website portrays a much nicer version than the actual property .It was over promised and there is no one to contact that is concerned or obligated to help.

Owner's Response: As this guest put it, Even with all the "flaws" we had an ok vacation and learned to enjoy the peacefulness of the property. We are not perfect, Our property was established over 100 years ago, and a historical landmark to the area. One that you are handed the keys to a cabin and access to over 100 acres of lakefront wilderness. Kayak, Canoe, and Hiking tours are on a scheduled appointment basis only and for a guide, it cost additional fees. Nothing is free. We do have a few older canoes and kayaks available for use at no charge but guest must use without assistance or supervision. Because of the specialty and unique setting of the property and availability of very few cabins our policies state there are no refunds within 14 days but a credit towards another more modern property may be issued. We try our best to accurately depict and describe our property, cabins, and facilities. We apologize for any misunderstandings or unmet expectations and we encourage guest to request any additional information they need at time of booking. For the record as we make all guest aware before hand, our pool is temporarily closed. Our property and management follows a conservation and preservation theme. A campground on the lake with a few small historic cabins.

Pleasant and relaxing!

Beautiful views, helpful staff and very relaxing. Plenty to do and see. A lot of history at the lodge and beautiful flowers.
We had breakfast on the deck and even saw a deer swim across the lake. I want to spend time there again. Many thanks Ben for the joy you have brought to my life in the beautiful views at Arcadia Coves .
