About the Owner
Guestbook comments from the owner
I have never met Pat or her Husband, but in all fairness to me as an owner, I believe these accusations are unwarrented and malicious.
Modium needed replacement, was replaced with 12 hours of being aware of trouble. This is a beach home in a tropical island...of course there are insects..we professionally have it sprayed every 3 months. Housekeeper said the people were slobs and food was all over the home, wasn't put up and plates with half eaten food was everywhere! If I were an ant, I would love it here too.
Smoke alarms were there, they just didn't know where to look, we have 3 of them..this guy must work for the government.
Again a new cutting board was purchased as apparently they ruined the old one...never had that happen with any other guests before. They were extremely hard on my house and housekeeper. Just because they paid to be there, they had no right to put her through so much.
I'm really a pretty nice guy and fair, this is the first time I've have to deal with this type of an individual.
In all my years of dealing with the public, I have found most folks are very fair and honest with their dealings with me...didn't happen this time.
I'm chalking this up to experience.

Absoloutly loved the location. beach was private,
Our own little paradise!
There was very little left to want in this home, and it comes exactly as advertised. Close to more than one great snorkeling spot (including right out front), and a short drive to everything else that Kauai has to offer. Waking up to this view was something I will never forget. Whales breaching directly out front, a monk seal frolicking in the water at the beach just down the road, and the quiet - hearing nothing but the waves crashing against the reef - unforgettable.
I did a fair amount of research prior, and looked at many of the other Anahola rentals that we saw while there, and in my opinion this is the best value that you will find in this area of the island. If (when) we go back, we will have a tough time meeting or beating what we had this time. None of the other towns on Kauai appealed to us in the way that this quiet area of Anahola did.
The house was very clean, well maintained, and had everything you might need. We were cooking for vegetarian, gluten free, meat eaters, and kids, including a birthday cake, and we only had to pick up a few things to pull it off. If you are used to being pampered at a 5 star resort, this may not be your place. But if you are seeking respite from the busy world that is affordable and makes you feel like you are at home, this is where you belong.
We rarely ate out, but Verde in Kapaa is the place to go for Mexican. We shopped at Safeway and Papaya's to satisfy our wide diet requirements - and all were easily met.
If you want to go surfing, Hawaiian Surfing Adventures in Hanalei receives our recommendation - they got our kids up first or second try, including our 7 year old with autism. The instructors were knowledgeable and personable.
My only caution is that you will want to stay longer.
Sounds like you had a great time.
Loved this home and the location!
The beach right out front was wonderful as well but depending on the tide not usable at times. The pantry was not well stocked but we left a lot behind so maybe there will be more options now!
The location on the island was perfect. It allowed us access to both ends of the road with a 45 - 60 minute drive and really close to both Koloa and Princeville for quick trips.
We would definitely stay here again, the sooner the better!
A great place to stay in paradise!
