This is an ideal location for graduations at Parris Island. Close and convient to the base. Cottage is ideal for two adults and is well kept. Our stay was short and we were unable see and do attractions that are also close or near by. would do the stay again.

Small but efficient and very accomodating

You will love the convenience of having a real kitchen rather than a stuffy hotel room with nothing to offer. Being diabetics that was a blessing for us to be able to have a regular refridgerator/stove rather than eating in a restaurant or on fast food for a week.

I would also recommend staying here not only for the convenient location to shopping, the sea islands, fishing, and adventuring but the luxury of not having to kennel our little maultese. He enjoyed the trip as much as we did and we enjoyed not having to worry with him being in a kennel. Small dogs do not kennel well, especially for a period of a week--having our pet with us meant a great deal to us because a cousin of ours kenneled his maultese with his vet for a week while on a cruise and the dog died of kidney failure. Seems he wouldn't eat or drink (from grief) and suffered dehydration, thus kidney failure.

I can't thank our host/hostess enough for the kindness and thoughtfulness of sharing fresh Road Island Red eggs with us from her brood of hens. That was an un-expected pleasure and they were promply cooked and eaten before half the week was gone! Boy, were they good!

Mini vacation

Cozy little cottage just the right size for 2. The owners live in the house in front and the only time we talked with either was briefly when we arrived. The home was clean and well stocked with linens and kitchen tools needed for our stay. They have chickens in the back yard and left a dozen eggs in the refrigerator when a cute note from the hens. We enjoyed our stay and appreciate being able to bring our small dog. I have recommended this cottage to family and friends and plan to stay again.

LOVED IT!!

  • 5 of 5
Drove from Tampa with my daughter and her NEWBORN to see her husband graduate from USMC, Parris Island. Just needed a little place to sleep and found this adorable little cottage! It was more than sufficient and SO much better than staying in a more expensive and scary motel....plenty of room for the 3 of us!! We had a wonderful stay and fresh eggs in the fridge from all the sweet hens in the back yard! Thank you, again!!

A gem

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week and we couldn't have been more pleased with our choice of a place to stay. The cottage is just as shown on the website and the owners, Sonnie and Greg, are the epitomy of southern hospitality. I can't say enough good things about this place -- the cottage itself; its close proximity to downtown Beaufort (a short bike ride); the pass to Hunting Island State Park (we visited 4 times); and the "pet" hens are great (they greeted us every morning as we had breakfast on the porch). Sonnie even gave us a dozen fresh eggs. I would highly recommend this cottage to any couple looking for a clean, cozy, inexpensive place to stay when visiting the lowlands. I hope to make to make it back, as one week was just not enough time to see everything there is to see. We loved the fresh seafood at the Dockside in Beaufort (best seafood we've ever had). Beaufort is a great home base when visiting Savannah and Charleston as well and be sure to stop at the old Sheldon Church ruins - amazing!

The Perfect Getaway!

  • 5 of 5
We had such a great stay in this little cottage! It was so cozy and secluded unlike most hotels; It was like my husband and I ran away and lived in Beaufort for a few days! The location was perfect and surrounded by so many activities and things to do. The Hunting State Park was also very nice. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay and would definitely return!

Location

Activity and Interests

Beautiful Beaufort by the sea is an ideal vacation area with the convenience of being located just 18 miles from the ocean at Hunting Island State Park, forty-five minutes from Hilton Head SC, one hour from Charleston,S.C. It is also made up of numerous smaller islands which spotlight the history of both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars as well as native arts and culture.

The Intra coastal Waterway, the Atlantic Ocean and a myriad of rivers and creeks wrap the islands in opportunities for sunrises and sunsets unlike any others you will see. You will find cuisine, culture, history and heritage to suit any interest. Beaufort is a beautiful, Southern town surrounded by sea islands. Historic churches and museums are plentiful.
