House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 7 Sleeps

Changes in attitudes is a beautiful private beach house. It has a

gulf view, private dock with access to the intercostal. The Gulf of

Mexico is just 300 ft. away with a beach access. The island has 7

miles of secluded beach. The house is newly built has large rooms,

ceramic tiled and harwood floors, a cozy fireplace and is completely screened

around the entire house with huge front, back and side decks. The

island offers an "old Florida" atmosphere. This is a place for

relaxing, fishing, going for long quiet beach walks. Don Pedro is a

barrier island with no bridges to the mainland. The mode of

transportation to the island is by car ferry or private boat. Ferry

service operates on a daily basis on demand.

The few minutes that is takes the ferry to cross

the water will transform you from the outside world to our tropical

paradise. We have special prices on the ferry passes. We also have a golf cart for rent.

(special prices on golf rentals with weekly rentals),a restaurant, pizza and breakfast and a small convenience store. Close at hand

on the mainland full service marinas, boat rentals, grocery, shopping golf courses and waterfront restaurants.

Bring your boar or rent one. The private dock will accomodate apporx. a 20ft boat. You can fish right off the dock. New tiled flooring and updated bathrooms. Under house is a huge decked area with tiki bar. A great place to hang out and relax on the hammock in the shade.

absolute perfection

  • 5 of 5
This was the absolute perfect girls weekend get-a-way. The house is clean, well managed, and decorated perfectly for the setting. It has the most amazing tiki bar area, and great views out the back. I hope to stay again - it was a memorable trip. Diane was very attentive to any questions I had and was quick to respond to all communication.

Island Getaway

  • 5 of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed our second stay at 'Changes in Attitudes'. Diane and Kevin handle the bookings very professionally, and are always available to answer questions and take care of any concerns promptly. We were so glad that we were able to bring our 9 month old Sheltie with us this time!

The house is perfectly located between a lagoon and the beach, and the kitchen is well stocked with utensils, plus a coffee maker and griddle. Just make sure you bring all the food supplies you might need for cooking, since provisions are scarce on the island. My husband enjoyed fishing off the dock, while the grandchildren looked for sharks' teeth at the beach. Diane and Kevin have tried to provide everything you might need to make your stay enjoyable.

The three minute ferry ride transports you to a different lifestyle, where the beaches have a private feel and golf carts are the mode of transportation. The house is very aptly named as it definitely provides 'Changes in Attitudes' for its guests.

my new go to home on the island

  • 5 of 5
What an awesome home!! I can't tell you how amazing the home is. WE have rented dozens of vrbo homes in the past and this was by far our favorite. The deck under the house is set up for spending the day enjoying the out doors without having to be in the sun! the bar is awesome for afternoon drinks while watching the kids fish from the dock.. My youngest caught so many catfish we couldn't keep up..Make sure you bring your pole because the little ones won't get bored! My teen girls enjoyed the kayak and loved hanging out under the house with the hammocks and their music playing. Def. rent the golfcart for the eas of getting around the island and visit the main resort for rum buckets for the adults and ice cream and pizza for the kids. We set up our stuff on the beach in the morning and didn't take it all down until the end of the day. a quick walk gets you to the beach...We all even took a jump off the bridge into the water!! Absolutely perfect vacation and the information the owners gave was so helpful!! They were easy to work with and we had the best house out of all the other couples that also rented on the island with us...(6 different houses) we originally intended to bring our dogs, but left them home last minute. I really wish we would have brought them because they could have hung out with us under the house the entire weekend and would have loved swimming in the lagoon!!

We loved our stay in this awesome house. We have a 6 year old, 4 year old and a 13 month old. When looking for a summer vacation house I look for cleanliness.... it was VERY clean. I also look for great sleep set up including afternoon naps. It had that and more. The master bedroom has a walk in closet big enough where I did not even have to close the door for him to have privacy and be quiet enough for him to sleep. The other two rooms were perfect for my mom and my two older kids. We went to the beach everyday which was right across and easy to get to. There's an outdoor shower perfect for bathing my kids all at once so there was never any sand dragged inside the house.
We got to use the Golf cart but it died on us..... we called the owners that afternoon and they had someone there to fix it the next morning, big hit with my kids since that was one of their favorite part of the vacation. I love how the beach is not crowded and how safe I felt. Another big hit was the wrap around porch... my kids loved it since they are too young to go downstairs by themselves.... this made them feel very BIG :)
The house had everything I needed for the kitchen... all I brought was my slow cocker for easy meals.

Excellent vacation

  • 5 of 5
We rented Changes in attitude for our honeymoon/vacation for two weeks. We have stayed on Don Pedro once before and loved it. It is a true island feel since the only way to get on is by ferry. The beach is excellent for collecting shells and sharks teeth or just walking and relaxing. We took the golf cart for a couple rides around the island along with we drove it to the only restaurant, Rum Bay on the island,we all agreed the food and drinks were good. It's pretty cool seeing the gopher tortoises walking around on the island too.

In regards to our stay at Changes in Attitude, the home was excellent. It was very spacious with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. All of the bedrooms and living room have walk out patios, depending on the bugs (noseums) and weather, its nice leaving the doors open to let in the fresh air. The living room doors actually slide completely open which opens the living room up to the outside.

The master bedroom (which we stayed in) is nice with a walk in closet and an attached bathroom.
The two guest bedrooms are on the opposite side of the house. There is a pocket door to close off from the living room and the bedrooms. My mom and aunt each stayed in one of the bedrooms, sharing the bathroom. The only change they would have liked to see is there is only one mirror for getting ready and that is in the bathroom. An extra mirror in each of the bedrooms would have made it perfect.
The totally screened in porch was really nice, the first week we were able to open everything up and no problems with bugs. The second week we had bees come to visit which because of the screen it was nice because we were still able to enjoy the outdoors. The noseums can come through the screening so Avon bug spray was used.
We will certainly stay in Changes of Attitude again. I had to contact the owners a couple of times and no problems with that either. Thank you for making our honeymoon and vacation an excellent time!
