House, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Sleeps 8
The first thing you notice when you arrive at the Ott Club is that access from the road is straight and level-no “goat path” access roads that make you wonder if you’ll ever get your vehicle out in one piece.
The house has two ground level bedrooms. One bedroom has a double bed, the second bedroom has a double futon with a top bunk, the third is an upstairs bunkroom which has two double beds and a single bed. There is also a pull-out futon in a bright, airy sunroom. The house sleeps 8 people comfortably. Please bring your own linens and towels.
There is a bathroom on the ground floor which has an ample shower and new sink.
The Ott Club features a nice, well-equipped open style kitchen with a modern electric glass top range and 2 ovens, a microwave, coffeemaker, blender, toaster, full-size refrigerator, a wide variety of utensils, cutlery, pots and pans.
Both the living room (great room) and sunroom are spacious and airy. There are three full size sliding glass doors, skylights and lots of windows looking out over the lake so you don’t have to miss a single gorgeous sunset. For those rainy days, there is a flat screen TV with basic cable, wifi, a DVD player (and an assortment of movies), board games, wifi and even a piano in the sunroom. Cell phone reception is good at The Ott Club.
Step through any of the sliding glass doors onto a large deck which features a dedicated grill station complete with roof and lights (for when dinnertime runs a bit late). The deck has a full complement of chairs and a large, solid picnic table.
Just off the deck there is a campfire area that’s perfect for ghost stories and music. There is plenty of campfire wood, free for the gathering, in the woods surrounding the cottage. The parking area accommodates six vehicles comfortably. And the 5.6 acres of woods all around the yard and house make it almost impossible to see either of the next door neighbors. The view of the lake and especially the gorgeous sunsets are spectacular. Try out the hammocks for a mid- afternoon siesta.
Head down the steps (there are 51 of them) to a private shale beach (220 ft. long) and large permanent dock that’s great for sunbathing, swimming and cocktailing. There is a swim raft and an off-shore mooring. The lake bottom off the end of the dock is sandy and gradual, unlike the rocky drop-offs common to the Finger Lakes. There are two rowboats and a canoe available for guest use. The rowboats are registered with NYS Dept of Motor Vehicles, so if you would like to bring your own outboard fishing motor you are welcome to do so. There is a beach campfire area as well if you would prefer your marshmallows toasted down by the water. The beach shack contains an assortment of Life jackets, fishing gear and water toys.

Great place to stay!
My only complaint would be that the place was a little dated and a little dusty. But for the price, the size (I loved that 3 bed loft, and the sitting room), and the views, my 'complaint' isn't even big enough to affect my star-rating.
My husband and I are in talks about coming back on our 1st anniversary next year. Do yourself a favor, and book this property.
Thank you for your kind words, and we agree that the location is so unique, and the 3 bed loft is great, super cozy, glad you enjoyed!
Activity and Interests
Geneva is known as the Lake Trout Capital of the World. Every Memorial Day weekend there is a Lake Trout Derby, a test of trout fishing skills for serious seasoned veterans and lucky amateurs alike. For those who favor a little more relaxed approach, there are lots of fish hiding in the weed beds 100 yards from the dock. Don’t forget to bring your fishing license!
The Ott Club is ideally situated to take advantage of three excellent wine trails:
The Seneca Lake Wine Trail (http://www.senecalakewine.com/ or call Toll-free 877-536-271) is the largest and most active wine trail in New York State with a community of 34 wineries, a distillery, two breweries and a meadery.
The Cayuga Lake Wine Trail (http://www.fingerlakeswinecountry.com/cayuga-lake-wine-trail.aspx or call Toll-free: 800-813-2958) is America’s first organized and longest running wine trail in the country - established in 1983. The trail is comprised of 17 member wineries, one cidery, and a meadery offering something for everyone.
The Keuka Lake Wine Trail (http://www.fingerlakeswinecountry.com/Keuka-Lake-Wine-Trail.aspx or call Toll-free: 800-440-4898l) is home to the ultimate in wine history. It was here, in 1860, that the first bonded winery was established. It was also here that the first Vinifera vines were planted, sparking a renaissance in winemaking. There are 7 member wineries.
There is an abundance of tours, busses, limousines and such to take you around to sample the amazing variety of wine, beer, spirits, hard cider and mead. Don’t forget to arrange for sober transportation! Local law enforcement enthusiastically looks for and prosecutes intoxicated drivers.
Many of the establishments on the wine trails also serve outstanding food and regularly feature great live music, from big name national performers to astonishingly good local performers.
Consider The Ott Club as an alternative to pricey, boring hard-to-find hotel rooms. We are 15 minutes from Hobart/William Smith and an hour or so from Cornell University and Ithaca College. Syracuse and Rochester are each roughly 45-60 minutes from The Ott Club.
The wineries aren’t the only music venues worth exploring. Rochester and Ithaca are both home to world-class music schools, whose students and faculty frequently put on concerts that will thrill and amaze any music lover. The local music scene is huge, affordable, diverse, and chock full of truly excellent musicians.
The GrassRoots Festival (held in the village of Trumansburg on the 3rd weekend of July every year) is a four-day extravaganza (Thurs., Fri., Sat. and Sun.) worthy of special recommendation. It’s only half an hour’s drive from The Ott Club and it’s a must-see event if you happen to be in the area when it’s going on.
Again, don’t neglect to arrange designated sober transportation.
