House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 4 Sleeps

Seal Watch Cottage has just been completely renovated from top to

bottom. The home overlooks Lubec Narrows, the ocean channel between

Lubec and Campobello Island, Canada. Seals love to surf through the

channel and frolic in the fast currents -- and you can watch them

play right from your first or second floor deck! Both floors of this

two story home have full decks for taking in the views of the

channel, Campobello Island, Mulholland Lighthouse, and on out to sea.

The two second floor bedrooms each have a double sliding glass door

that open onto a deck to capture the stunning views. Cathedral

ceilings with skylights allow you to lie in bed and view the stars or

watch eagles fly overhead. There is little light pollution in Lubec

so our stars shine bright and you can even see the Milky Way!

The fully equipped kitchen has all new counters and cabinets.

Completely equipped with all appliances including a dishwasher. The

cottage has high speed internet and free long distance phone calls

for those who absolutely cant tear themselves away from the rest of

the world. For those who want to leave the rest of the world behind,

a 3 mile long sandy beach is just a short stroll away. The cottage

has two full baths; each has a four foot wide shower with built in

seat. The master bedroom has a queen bed; the second bedroom has a

full bed. There is also a fold out sofa in the living area. Bed and

bath linen provided. Washer and dryer. Sorry, no smoking indoors. Tunr over day is Sunday.

Great Place -Well Equiped and Cental

My friend and I came to attend Summerkeys. We were near everything -my husband loved exploring and golf while we were at the pianos. This house is equipped with everything you need and was very modern and clean. Great restaurants closeby and seal watching in the harbor! We headed across the bridge to Campobello in the afternoons to FDR Cottage, East Quoddy lighthouse, Firehouse Restaurant, Island Cruises Whale Watching (Capt. Mackie and Robert were awesome and well informed boatmen who also rescue entangled whales!!!).
Lubec is a very friendly place!
For artists, everything just screamed 'Paint me'!
Don't miss Monica's Chocolates -meeting her was extraordinary and the chocolates might be the best we ever ate!!!

Now that we're home, I am having Lubec withdrawal. Would
love to return!

The house is great. It is clean and well-maintained. Great value for the price that was paid. Lubec is a very nice, quiet town. Had a lot more fog that we had anticipated. But on the clear days, we see seals in the Narrows. Bought lots of chocolates and lobsters from Bayside Chocolates. Crossing over to Campobello is very easy. LIne-ups at border crossing are not very long. And the border crossing officers were very courteous. Jody provided great service. Her instructions and suggestions were very helpful. And we received our security deposit promptly. Our family and our little puppy thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

What a place! My family was very fortunate fortunate to stay at the Seal Watch Cottage for one awesome week. The house is cozy , inviting and provides a great view of the entire area It's quite pleasant and relaxing, this is what we call home away from home. The house is well equipped to meet the taste and satisfaction of the most demanding guest. Anything you can think of in a home is at your fingertips. In my humble opinion, Jody is the best manager in the area hands down. Quietly she is making sure your stay is comfortable, memorable and will go out of her way to help you any way she possibly can. If you have not contacted her yet for a visit to this beautiful part of the country which is Lubec you owe it to yourself. Try her service and you will not regret it. As for the DownEaster, it is a piece of heaven on earth.

The house is neat and well equipped. The neighborhood is quiet and extremely friendly. Lubec is the most dog friendly town we have ever gone to. If you want to get away from everything and enjoy hiking or picnicking, it’s a great region to visit. Even though the border crosssing is literally in your back yard, there is no traffic at night, and not much during the day. A great summer getaway spot.

Our stay at Seal Watch Cottage

We enjoyed our stay at Seal Watch Cottage a great deal. The cottage was clean and well equipped. The lights from the border station act as a very bright nightlight, but they did not keep us up. The border crossing is very quiet at night. The cottage is close to downtown stores and Mowry Beach. We enjoyed watching the tides for the deck of the cottage. The area offers many beautiful hiking trails around Lubec and on Campobello Island. The weather cooperated most days we were there. It was cool, but comfortable.

we stayed last week in sept and part of oct. The fall color good, one more week it would have been at peak. the house was clean, equiped with dang near everything. felt just like home. The iga in lubec had everything I needed. Eugune at the bayside chocalate shop had lobsters I got haddock on south Lubec road (brought home 40 lbs frozen) . The deck was used a lot there are 2 bikes there books games the heater cranked out btu,s. I do want to go back next year and probally will. I go to Lubec annually but mostly 2 days at a time. Plenty of hiking go to reversing falls most cool. We cooked most meals I figured what I did not spend at restraunts would cover the rent at the cottage. The border station right behind the cottage did create some noise and the station is very well lit up so that might be an issue to a very light sleeper. I enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the cars going over the bridge to Canada. The best trail on compobello was at raccoon beach. The lighthouse at the head of the island can now be climbed into with a small fee well worth it as the maintance has been upgraded. Get your tide chart so you can plan on getting there at low tide

Activity and Interests

The Lubec area is host to three state parks, a national park, an

international park, a national wildlife refuge, and several nature

preserves, all of which offer a variety of well maintained hiking

trails. Lubec has several sandy beaches (a rarity this far Down

East), bold coastal cliffs, coastal rain forest, wildflower meadows,

and peat bogs. Lubec's West Quoddy Head Lighthouse is one of the

most photographed lighthouses in the country. Lighthouse lovers can

visit 4 lighthouses within a 10 mile radius of Lubec. Local whale,

wildlife, and puffin tours offer the chance to observe nature up

close or you can rent a kayak or canoe to explore both salt and fresh

water havens. Local nature and history tours will help you learn

about the ecology and culture of the area. You can also golf, swim in

freshwater lakes, visit local galleries and craft shops, attend

concerts, and visit local festivals. The area is rich in history -- from

the first naval battle of the Revolutionary to Maine's own "Cannery

Row" which lined the waterfronts of the Downeast coast. You'll find

it all here -- rich history, spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife, and

friendly people.
