Cute studio in Oahu!

  • 4 of 5
I stayed in this really cute detached studio in November during my trip to Oahu and it was great! I knew I wanted to stay away from the crowds in Waikiki and wanted to live somewhere where the locals lived and I'm so glad I found this listing. The property is on a hill with some pretty awesome views of the mountains, It had a very rustic feel to it which I love. The studio had towels and extra linens which was essential, there was a ceiling fan but no a/c. November was pretty cool weather-wise, we didn't need the fan on some nights, so I can't say for the other months. The kitchen was pretty nice, it had everything you'll need to cook a light meal. The bathroom had a nice shower and I was glad there was a hair blow dryer provided. The bed was super comfy! I really liked the furniture of the studio, it was cozy and had a rustic feel to it. There was a coin laundry washer and dryer right outside the studio which we used and was convenient.

The studio was right next to a road so it was a bit noisy but being from a big city, I got used to it pretty quickly. Bring earplugs just in case. The parking was easy, we parked on the street a few yards downhill from the property, it was always available.

This studio was really very nice, excellent !!!!.
It was a fully furnished flat which looked as new !!!!. I found all that I needed. It was very clean and vented by the fresh breeze of the Heights. At the same time, the sightseeing was really wonderfull !!!!
I was to Hawaii to a conference at the Convention Center but I prefered to get accomodation in a flat, not in a hotel. This experience was really very nice since I had to get every day The Bus number 6 at the bus stop of Lusitania and Paoua Av. without any trouble, after walking down no more than 200 metres from the Studio to the Paoua Av., alternating with the Hawaiians.
I really enjoyed my trip in Hawaii because of the friendly and respectful people as well.
I'm really sorry because I haven't had a chance to thank Mr Thomas of Rainbow Rental yet.

Cute and cozy -- as advertised!

  • 4 of 5
This little studio rental on Pacific Heights Rd was exactly as advertised. The process of getting the paperwork done for the rental was simple and Thomas (our contact with Rainbow Rentals) was responsive and easy to work with. The studio is indeed very nice with all the amenities that are listed. It is a studio, so it's not roomy, but that's to be expected. The kitchen has all the necessities to do simple cooking (we mainly did breakfasts) and, along with the rest of the room, been recently remodeled. The location is quick to both sides of the island -- it sits right off the Pali Hwy and easy access to either windward or leeward beaches. The only concern we had is the traffic noise: the studio is situated right next to a fairly busy road and the traffic noise at night is pretty loud. However, I used ear plugs and my wife sleeps through anything, so it wasn't a problem for us. It's something to keep in mind if you are a sensitive sleeper. All in all we found this location to be a very good value, and would go back again if possible!

not up to par

The location could have been better advertised that your right next to a busy street and you hear cars drive by all night long unless you close the windows. But there is no air conditioning( which is advertised) so closing the windows means no cool air. Everything in the studio looked clean.
As I began to get settled in though I soon realized that the floor of the studio had not been swept and the bathroom had hair all over the floor from someone using the place. Looking at the bed it seemed as though the sheets were wrinkled from someone sleeping in them before my arrival. It wasn't absolutely disgusting, but its just not what you expect when you arrive and your walking barefoot inside.
There also was no key for the studio for me to lockup the place. So I called Thomas the manager and he seemed startled that I was already here. I think he was expecting my arrival the following morning, even though I had been in contact via email for the last week stating my arrival was the night of the third.
He promptly came over and gave me a key and when I showed him the place he agreed with me that the place was not satisfactorily cleaned. He apologized and said he would have his cleaning lady come again to clean in the morning.
He apologized again for the mis-communication of my arrival and said that he had had a real rough night last night. (Sorry but that's really none of my concern. If you run a business is should be kept up to par and clean!!!) Thomas said it had been cleaned that day but agreed, obviously not well enough.

He said for compensation he would buy me a bottle of wine to enjoy the rest of my stay on Oahu which I thought was very nice and would have satisfied my need for compensation, and most likely would have given my overall experience a better grade. But I never received that complementary bottle of wine or any compensation for the lack of having what I rightly payed for....a clean place from the moment I arrived!! The place was re-cleaned and the rest of my stay was fine.

The kitchen light bulbs were out and so I had to use the bathroom light to see what I was cooking at night. And the toaster did not work.
Overall it had your basic necessary items to cook, but very basic.
The neighbors were very nice and the neighborhood was very quiet, minus the road traffic. It was very quick to drive to the beaches and stores but you do have to drive.
Hope this helps the next people, and hopefully they will be more on top of their game.
