The cottage is not only just a walk across the street to the beach but has a pier out on the bay. The first night there we baited the provided crab traps and caught 9 blue crabs with ease. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware, utensils, etc. and so we had no problem harvesting and consuming our catch.
The catch across the street, via surf fishing, was just as good. We caught Pompano as well as other species. The kids loved seeing the various species of fish, most of which were released. Some however did make it to the dinner table.
The beach was beautiful and many activities were just 20-30 minutes away. We played putt putt just on the other side of Apalach and visited St. George Island and the Park thereon. The beach at St. George was amazing. At one point i could look in either direction on an eight mile stretch of beach and see no other persons than my family. After this, we visited St. George Beach for a second day--and it was just the same--nearly all ours!
Port St. Joe, just twenty (20) minutes away also had lots to offer in the way of dining and obtaining necessities (groceries, beach gear, etc.). Apalach offered the same, maybe a few more restaurants, and additionally some old storefront arts/crafts/etc. type shopping.
My wife drove to panama city shopping one day while my seven year old son and I rented and pontoon and went fishing in the Port St. Joe Bay. We caught many large fish really easily. The girls did well in Panama City as well and scored a bunch of good deals (or so i hear).
Anyhow, don't hesitate to try Cloud 9. I rarely write reviews but just feel compelled because of the amazing time my family just spent there.
