My family and I are definitely coming back and spending another week here. This place is amazing. Jean was wonderful and met up with us when we arrived, showing us around the house and how the hot tub worked. She had the fire going which was so great because Morro Bay can get wonderfully chilly! The house was very clean and had all the amenities stated in the description...including a well stocked spice cabinet! The rooms were spacious (the upstairs master bedroom was extra spacious), the beds were comfy, the living room was cozy, the view of the bay & rock were gorgeous! The front yard had enough space for my little dog to run around and do his business. The garage has direct house access (perfect fit for our Yukon) and extra driveway space (enough for a Sierra truck and then some). Backing up the vehicles out of the long driveway was no problem for our experienced drivers ;) There was also plenty of street parking.
The only thing that made me nervous was the semi-open staircase...my little dog loves to jump from furniture to furniture, so I was worried about the couch right next to the staircase on the second floor. Easy fix though: move the couch a few feet away!
Bottom line, this house is the best of the best. Central California is a beautiful place to explore and 685 Monterey Ave is the perfect place to stay while you do so.

Great spot to stay and explore the central coast with a large family!

We stayed at this location for 5 days in late August and really enjoyed it. Jean was great, met us there at arrival, and made sure we were okay. The condo definitely felt a bit lived in but it was clean and that was a plus for us as between my sister and I we were there with 6 kids and everyone felt comfortable. We took advantage of the Kayak's she had for us to use which was fun. Also, the location was great. It was a quick walk to the embarcadero (three short blocks) where you could find shops and restaurants. The beach was beautiful and a bit of a longer hike but we walked it! The other thing we did that we really enjoyed was going whale watching - it was AMAZING! Whales everywhere and we only went a little over a mile out. It was an experience our family won't forget. Few places match the natural beauty and friendly, laid back atmosphere of Morro Bay. With short drives both up and down the coast there is so much to do and see. We had a great time and would definitely recommend this rental - especially for the price we paid!

Great house, great location

We have been staying here for 7 weeks. The house is very nice and large. The kids enjoy playing in the front yard, taking the hot tub is a great way to finish a day... The kayaks are great too - no need to rent them in the harbor. Morro Bay and the surroundings (San Luis Obispo, Cabmria, Avila Beach...) are very nice and worth visiting. The house was clean when we arrived, Jean is a helpful person. We would definitely like to come back in the future. Highly recommended.

guest comfort not a priority here

We lived in this house for an entire month. The town is great, but not this house. Perhaps weekenders or large groups don't notice the major problems with this property. Kitchen and laundry room are dirty and full of yard sale junk and semi-functioning appliances. Not equipped for real cooking, and microwave only functions 50%. Floors are cracked and filthy. Countertop - yikes. Garage full of old furniture, non-usable appliances, hoarders junk, even canceled checks from previous renters in old furniture drawers. Yes we looked, because we were looking for a cable to connect the vcr! Beds are ok, but there isn't a comfortable chair in the place. Bedding and towels are threadbare and worn, all odds and ends. Hot tub functions, but it is up to the renter alone to decide if it needs chemicals. Kayaks and equipment unusable due to them all being in a heap outside, covered with dirt, and damaged. Fireplace declared unsafe by gas company while we were there, not repaired during our stay. No phone, no radios, no clocks, no music system, and the dvd must play on an old style tv. Floodlights from motel on adjacent property light up the inside of the house due to no blackout curtains. No up to date instructions re wireless internet passwords and setup. Interior stairs carpet is black with dirt? mold? and stinks. Silverfish in master br closet and bed. Allowing pets and groups is not a fair trade off for discomfort and dirt. Renters at 685 must enter/exit property by foot or vehicle through the front 675 property, causing us to have to ask the front renters to please move their cars, kids, lounge chairs, etc from our driveway access. Owners could have simply put up a sign on the gate, but I think they are amused when the confrontations get hostile. It should not have been our responsibility to enter another renter's property early in the morning to ask to move a car. Glad we went to Morro Bay, but this rental is not a bargain at all, with the lack of amenities and cleanliness.

Owner's Response: My side of the story. This guest requested some one to clean before they arrived. It was cleaned professionally before they arrived. There was no complaint at this time. I offered a professional cleaning pair for them to use later in the month as previously requested however this was refused. The hot tub had fresh water at the start of their stay. The guest requested the spa tester which was given to him. Weeks later he said that he could not get it right but refused to turn the responsibility over to me. When they complained about the fireplace I immediately had the fire place checked by the gas co. who said that it was unsafe but the lady from the gas co. was not allowed to repair it. The guest demanded that it be repaired immediately but the part was being ordered. It was not unsafe if not used. The forced air heat was available. Again at the beginning of the stay I offered to remove my waste not want not collection but it was refused. As for the phone, I do not keep it active any more because most people use their cell phones. I would have activated it if it was requested. It was not requested. I expect the guests to clean the kayaks each time that they use it. However this is not always done. The quests did not request it during their month stay. This senior citizen has lost 15 pounds and with them most aches and pains. I have more energy now and will do more. However this house will not be rented for a month at a time again. I have many repeat customers who trust me with their vacation plans. I appreciate them and will continue to do my best to please.

We had a great time in Morro Bay. The house is in a great location, close to everything. We had a graduation party of about 20 people? The house had everything we needed. Lots of places for people to sleep.
