love the house, not so much the owner

  • 4 of 5
The house is really nice. It is modern and spacious. The lake is across the street down 2 flights of steps, but there is lakefront that is part of the property on which the house sits. Getting boats down there is annoying, but you can leave them down there for the whole trip. The dock, especially the raised portion above the boat lift, is really sweet and was the best place to hang out on the property. I think sleeping 16 is just a little bit of a stretch, but the place sleeps 12 no problem. One of the nicest things about the house is the big, empty pantry where you can keep all the food and kitchen stuff you bring with you. Lots of great stuff to do around here. Wineries, breweries, hiking. Skip Watkins Glen and go to Havana Glen Falls. There's a closed trail there where you can get down to the falls above the touristy section and creek walk for miles. The toilets, especially the one by the kitchen, clog very easily. There is no bathroom in the house except for this one that is accessible without going through a bedroom. Also, the dishwasher is worthless. The property manager, who is the mother of the owner, is a very nice lady, but anyone who's coming here to party should be aware that the owner's mother lives next-door. They also take quiet hours, which begin at 10pm, even on weekends, pretty seriously in this neighborhood. We got yelled at for our music being too loud at 10:15 by the property manager's husband, who i believe was doing his best to be intimidating at the time. He also told us at this time that we had to be out by 10 the next morning, even though it clearly stated in our rental agreement that check out was at 11. Which brings me to the owner. He is very difficult to get in touch with. He had me leave him a hefty check for a security deposit. After we left, he was to void the check. Part of the departure protocol for this place is that the renters are to clean all the sheets. With 12 people staying there, that's 3 loads of laundry we were expected to wash and dry before leaving at10 am. This is a little ridiculous to expect of people that are, after all, on vacation. So I emailed the owner to tell him that we never finished the last load of laundry, and sent him 3 more messages over the course of the following week. He never responded, and then cashed my check. He wound up returning most of it and keeping the rest for a cleaning fee, but it was 2 days after the check was cashed before I heard from him. This is wildly inconsiderate.

Owner's Response: I live out of state, and my property manager's phone number is listed on the instructions sheet in the property. I came out of compliance with my own no-pet policy to accommodate this renter (as evidenced by the pet-friendly recommendation), yet still failed to meet his expectations. The property was not left in good shape upon check-out. The cleaning fee was appropriate in this case.

Wedding party stay

  • 5 of 5
We hosted out of town guests for a wedding that was held at Logan Ridge. Some nights we had a full house and other nights it was just 6 of us. The house was nicely appointed and has a smart design. It struck me as ideal for a family reunion involving adult children and grandchildren, because the three large upstairs bedrooms have a bed for parents and additional beds for children and lots of room on the floor for cribs. In addition to the three large bedrooms, there is a fortst floor master suite with accommodtions for disabilities. It is a lot of house, so if you don't need the space, there may be other good options. We needed the space and are very happy with what we rented. All of our guests were well served and had a good time.

Excellent house for a trip to the finger lakes

  • 5 of 5
The negative reviews were a bit scary, but I am certain we did not stay in the same place. The house was very clean and spacious. We were in a great location for trips to the wineries.

Best Weekend Ever!!!!

  • 5 of 5
I booked the lake house for a weekend of rest and relaxation and could not have been more pleased! The home was just as beautiful as it looked in the pictures. It was clean, very well maintained and beautifully decorated. We had a group of 15 and we all fit very comfortably as the house is spacious and laid out quite well to offer multiple entertaining areas both inside and outside the house. It was located minutes from all of our favorite wineries like Three Brothers, Hazlitt, Wagner, Penguin Bay and Poplar Ridge. After an awesome day touring the wineries we were able to come back to the house light the tiki torches on the deck, and enjoy roasting marshmallows around the fire pit. We were able to wake up to the most beautiful sunrises...pure serenity!!! Everyone agreed that it was an awesome weekend at an awesome property ~ our only decision now is to decide which weekend to book next summer!!!!

Undesirable house

  • 2 of 5
No pictures of the road from the house to the lake. The house was nice, but there were lots of ants in the kitchen. The deck was filthy, not a queen bed in the air conditioned room. The owners clearly did not check the house since there were a set of clothes includeing underwear, socks, and pj's in the bunkroom. Bathtub had hair in it, as long as one of the pillow cases. There was dust everywhere. There was no 80 foot dock, insted we used the wooden dock whch belonged to the other proptery. This is the first vaction that we had that completly sucked.
