Property Details

Updated: May 22, 2015
Cabin, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, Sleeps 2-3

Tucked into a mountainside, this property has been selected by travel writers for National publications for its ambience, many amenities and location: 3 blocks from downtown Manitou Springs with its many quaint shops and restaurants, 2 blocks from major attractions and just 4 miles west of Colorado Springs. Stay with all the creature comforts you demand. You can choose to open the windows and breathe in the fresh air, when all you will hear is the sound of Ruxton Creek running down the mountainside most evenings. You may choose to close up the windows and turn on the A/C in Summer. You can sit on your private patio and watch the clouds roll by or see a thousand stars in the sky when sitting outside most evenings. Come soak in your private indoor JACUZZI TUB for two and relax those sore muscles after a busy day of activities. Walk and leave your car in the property's PRIVATE off-street parking, as all of downtown Manitou and the main road to the Manitou Incline are now parking metered. The cabin is also on the FREE SHUTTLE ROUTE that operates May-September. At the Springs is just footsteps from incredible hiking trails including the Barr and Entemann Trails and attractions including the Pikes Peak Cog Railway and the Iron Springs Chateau. So what are you waiting for? Call and be sure and ask about our BREAKFAST FIXINS Bonus included with any four night or longer bookings.

The Pike National Forest is directly behind the property via a private staircase, but location is just one of the reasons Honeymoon Couples to Corporate Travelers have enjoyed the Property. The Cottage sleeps 2 best but can accomodate 3 for an evening or two. There is a staircase to accend but this gives the Property the quiet and privacy that most guests crave.

Fully restored, this Victorian Cottage retains its original beadboard walls and ceilings, but the best of the past and the present has been combined to make At the Springs cabin your best vacation choice.

In colder weather, curl up in the bed with the remote controlled gas fireplace and forget the cares of the world. The choices are all yours!

Come make your special memories and enjoy the majestic beauty of Pikes Peak by staying At the Springs.

Unexpected

  • 4 of 5
I expected the cottage to be small...it was bigger than I had pictured it in mind which was a pleasant surprise.

One of the main reasons I prefer to stay in a rental is the ability to cook my own food. When I saw a little stove/oven and a small fridge, I expected to be able to cook. Well...not so much. There were very limited cooking implements (i.e. pots/pans/utensils) provided. A small pot and a colander was about the extent of it. Because there is no ventilation we couldn't cook bacon, even in the oven. We couldn't even scramble eggs on the stove. (Both at the request of the owner, not by choice.) The freezer was pretty much frozen over so the ice cream we bought on on the way to the cottage made for a single HUGE dessert. We were able to cook on the grill and heat some things up in the microwave. That was unexpected, but overall not a terrible disappointment in the grand scheme of things.

The bed was comfortable enough and the tub was perfect. Parking was super convenient and a big bonus. I think the best thing this place has going for it is the location-just down the street from the Cog Railway, the Incline, and down town. We got a spring snow while we were there and were nice and toasty.

The owner is super friendly, hospitable and knowledgable about the area and local attractions. One of the coolest things in the cottage was a picture of the last time the Indians traveled on the Ute Pass (something like that)...it shows the cottage as it sat back in the early 1900s. VERY COOL.

As other reviewers have mentioned-there are a lot of stairs leading up to the cottage.

Owner's Response: I thank our guests for being candid and honest in their reviews as I think it really helps future
guests know what to expect although we have tried to be clear in our descriptions. The cabin has a small kitchenette as is pictured with a little freezer compartment.

There is no space for storing more than a couple of pots, colander and a heating tray. Most of our guests use the kitchenette for heating up left over pizza in the microwave, fixing sandwiches and maybe some quick oatmeal or toast before enjoying the days activities. The cabin is definitely set up for those who want a private little cabin in a great location, a small refrigerator to store some beverages and perhaps some fruit and cheese but are not into heavy cooking on vacation.

Once again I want to thank all of our guests who have taken the time to write a review.

NIce Rental

  • 5 of 5
Great little place for a any type of get-a-way. Very clean and comfortable. I stayed three nights and loved it. It's close (walking distance) to all that is happening in Manitou Springs. Jeanne, the owner, was very cordial and concerned I was pleased with the rental, which I was most pleased! I loved the off street parking as parking is hard to find in Manitou Springs. The only thing I would caution folks about, just be prepared to traverse some stairs up and down the hill to and from the cabin.

Owner's Response: We so appreciate guest comments. We are a mountain town. This Cottage doesn't sit right on the road which would be noisy. Instead it does take some stairs and a few steps beyond but the trudge up is worth it as this guest expressed.

Wonderful Anniversery

  • 5 of 5
You may have heard The Springs has 360 days of sun. We where here for the other 5. The Cottage is a wonderful cozy place to be stuck in the rain. The "alley" is one of the highlights. Just 6 steps up and you are in another world. Beautify maintained hillside gardens and a wonderful walking path that is the gateway to the mountains.

Just two blocks from the shops in Manitou Springs you are in the heart of a wonderful inviting community.

Owner's Response: It is heartwarming to know guests have enjoyed some of the creature comforts of At the Springs and some of the unmentioned but equally enjoyable special surroundings that just wait for guests to enjoy right out the back of the Property.

Great for a Romantic Get Away

  • 4 of 5
I would recommend this place to any one looking for a romantic get away. Cute place (even cuter than the pictures), cozy bed, big jacuzzi tub, very clean, nice electric fireplace, great location within walking distance of down town Manitou Springs.

I am giving it a 4 and not a 5 for a couple of minor reasons. We visited in Feb. and this place does not have central heat, which isn't a big deal with the fireplace, but when you get up in the morning and walk into the kitchen...burr. Also, I would recommend to the owner that they start up the hot water heater a few days before guests arrive in the winter. On the first night, we were not able to get enough hot water for the jacuzzi and had to forgo that until the next night. The TV is in the kitchen area - not the bed room, so we bundled up together on the couch with a provided space heater to watch the morning news.

Perfect to get away. If you go in the winter, bring warm pj's and socks and you'll be fine.

Cute cabin in beautiful Manitou!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I have always wanted to visit Colorado for the scenery and mountains and this cabin was perfect for the two of us. It's just a short walk from downtown Manitou, which is the cutest and most picturesque town we've ever visited. The cabin was small but cozy and clean- one bedroom, a bathroom and the combined kitchen/living room area, and we had all the amenities we wanted (TV, stove, fridge, utensils, coffee, outdoor grill, etc). We loved the antique decor, the charming stained glass windows and comfy bed. Jeanne was fun to talk to and she even shipped back my toothbrush charger when I accidentally left it behind. I would definitely recommend this cabin rental to anyone who is looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Thanks for a great stay Jeanne!

In town for family reunion and sight seeing

  • 4 of 5
Alden and I enjoyed the small house even though there were 31 steps to climb to get to the front door, A little huffing and puffing being Alden has COPD but he did well in the good climate. The little house was decorated so very nice and neat and beautiful antique furniture throughout.
We had our brother-in-law with us but would recommend the accomodations for one couple or a family of three as the hideabed is in the kitchen/dining area and the bathroom is very large and nice but on the other side of the master bedroom thus having to walk through that to get to the kitchen.
We would have enjoyed it much more if it had been just the two of us. We loved the location - just a short walk to downtown and to Cog Railroad. Lots of good restaurants near by and would definitly use it again if in Manitou Springs.
Jeanne had the kitchen well supplied for quick breakfast and coffee. NICE!

Owner's Response: Manitou Springs is a mountain town. Most cabins including ours all have quite a few steps unless they are one of the cabins down in the Motel-main drag area of town, which doesn't back National Forest like At the Springs does. We are in a residential backing heavy forested area just 3 blocks from downtown. I agree with the guests comments that At the Springs is best for two. It is just not as comfortable for three people because of the layout but ideal for two and can sleep three as pictured because the settee in the living room is a hideabed. I do my best to describe the cabin to guests and I always welcome guests comments. The Cabin is not fussy so both Men and Women seem to really like the decor. No teddy bears or lace curtains here, just sophisticated Colorado Decor that many guests have told me they feel is very romantic! Hope you'll come stay and make your special memories here as well!
