WHAT IS REALLY ATTRACTIVE AND NICE ABOUT SPENDING YOUR VACATION IN A HOME ON THE OCEAN IS THE PRIVACY AND RELAXATION YOU HAVE VS. HOTELS OR CONDOS AND WE HAVE DONE IT ALL. WATCHING THE TURTLES COME AND SWIM RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HOME IN THE OCEAN IS REALLY SPECIAL. THE QUALITY OF THIS HOME, KOA WOOD FLOORS AND GRANITE COUNTERS REALLY MAKES IT SPECIAL. YOU CAN LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN IN THE MASTER BEDROOM AND THE OCEAN IS VERY CALMING. GETTING UP AND DRINKING A POT OF COFFEE ON THE OCEAN READING MY BOOK IS THE BEST YET. KOA HALE IS VERY CLOSE, SHORT DRIVE TO KAILUA TOWN AND YOU CAN WALK TO THE BEST BEACH ON THE ISLAND.

LOVED this place

  • 5 of 5
My family and I stayed here in May 2014 and absolutely LOVED our stay. Our vacation was perfect! My boyfriend and I went with my mom and dad, so it was really nice that each couple had their own bedroom and bathroom--each with access to the deck. It was so relaxing falling asleep to the sound of ocean waves! (The third bedroom was suppose to be for my grandparents, but they unfortunately couldn't make it. That bedroom had it's own full bathroom as well, but no direct deck access). There were plenty of dishes and cookware provided, so we bought our own food and cooked there a lot. The view we got while eating dinner was better than any restaurant could've given us! While on the topic of dinner, Da Poke Shack is right up the street and has amazing food--we picked up dinner from there a few nights and brought it back to eat on the deck :) (also, if you like good beer you've got to pay a visit to the Kona Brewery in town!)

The location was great, just a few minutes outside of Kona. There was a small beach just a short walk away from the house too, but we never got a chance to check that out. We wanted to do some snorkeling while in Kona and there was plenty of snorkeling/beach gear for all of us to use. We went to Makalawena beach (which you have to hike across a lava field to get there, but it's absolutely gorgeous and secluded--totally worth it) and the gear was pretty lightweight so the trek across the lava field wasn't too bad.

The property management company for this house was easy to get in contact with, and very helpful answering any questions. I can't say enough about this place--like I said before, our vacation was perfect and staying in such a wonderful place was a huge part of making it perfect! This will definitely be our first choice whenever we come back to Kona--hopefully sooner than later!

Koa Hale Stay

  • 5 of 5
We planned a get-together of family members from various parts of the world and chose this house because of the large living/dining area, and the sea view. The house lived up to its description and was perfect for the seven people that stayed there, with the lanai as the star attraction. From there we relaxed, enjoyed the unbelievable view and finally saw dolphins on our last morning. Koa Hale is ideally situated, close to shopping centers, beaches and restaurants. The highlights of our trip included a snorkeling boat trip, visiting the volcano and swimming with manta rays. The property was clean and well maintained, except for the fridge water dispenser which developed a leak and had to be switched off half way through our stay. The kitchen had everything we needed, the only thing we couldn't locate was a potato peeler. It was a fantastic week and we would definitely stay there again.

Very Nice Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5
This is a well located house in very good condition and well stocked. I appreciate that the house not only had towels, sheets, etc, but also basic supplies such as soaps, dish and laundry detergent, TP, Paper towels, and condiments. There is a also a wireless printer which is useful to print excursion tickets and boarding passes.

Beautiful spot!

The only thing I would recommend is that the owners work with a local shopping service so that guests can arrive to food in the pantry (of course, at the guest's expense). I say this because we arrived hungry after a long travel day and the stores were closed.

Owner's Response: Hi Liz thanks so much for enjoying our home Koa Hale. We like to make our home like your home and have all those things and extra items provided for you and not charge extra for the linen package like a lot of other vacation rentals do.
That is a wonderful idea of a shopping service. I will check that out. We will be there end of July. Thanks for the suggestions. Please tell your friends about our home. Please come back when you can. Aloha and Mahalo!

All we could hope for!

  • 5 of 5
We spent a special week at Koa Hale. The house is beautiful. It was wonderful to arrive to fresh flowers that lasted all week. The house is very well apportioned. Basically had all we needed to make meals, snorkel, and enjoy day trips around the beautiful coast and Island. We had as many meals as we could on the lanai. Grilled and ate out a few times as well. Sunsets were great most evenings. Saw spinner dolphins, turtles and fish from the lanai. Local children and others used the swimming hole as well. We hope to be back one day. If so, would want to stay at Koa Hale again. Thanks much!

Beautiful Home and Setting

  • 5 of 5
We've just returned from a wonderful 11-day stay at this well-located home in Kona with our family. The home is very beautiful and well maintained. WiFi access is extremely good for those who need to do some work or check in with friends and family. Home was very clean upon our arrival and well stocked with towels, kitchen wares, snorkel gear, etc. But the best part is the lanai! We spent many hours watching/listening to the surf and enjoying sunsets from this very ample sized location. The tiki torches added a nice touch at night. We are very happy that we rented this home and plan on doing so again on our next visit to the Big Island. If you stay at this property, you will not be disappointed!
