Our family was greeted with a bucket filled with cigarette butts at the front door, a dirty bathroom shower
and a basket of the previous tenant's dirty laundry. The kitchen cabinets were greasy.
There was broken glass outside. The dust was thick throughout the house.
We called the owner who apologized for the housekeeper's cleaning but said that it
was the responsibility of the former tenants to clean up after themselves.
The homeowner refused to do anything to make things right for us.

Owner's Response: We have a beautiful and modern 3600 sq. ft. home which adjoins 25,000 acres of forest which gives privacy and allows one to experience nature. We visit the home regularly, especially before and after the season to keep the home in top notch shape for your use and our use.
The home has a major spring cleaning every year and all walls and ceilings are professionally painted so that both homes we rent are in top notch shape. Before the summer and winter season I inspect the property outside and inside and if something is not up to my standards it is remediated. I am a very picky person.
Let’s clear up a few items:
1. Ms. “Dirty” never called on the phone; she sent us a terse email 4 days after she was in the home. She complained about 7-10 different items with no request for follow-up. We sent the info to our cleaning person on Thursday, who is very good by the way, and she went in to clean the home on Saturday and then called us back regarding the list. The owner of the cleaning crew explained Ms. “Dirty” was a bit perfectionist.
2. The house is smoke free, ergo the 6 cigarette buckets around the outside of the home vs. having cig butts scattered all over the property.
3. Lastly, Ms. “Dirty” said she was greeted by a dirty bathroom shower. I believe being greeted by the master bathroom shower, which has multi-colored grout from day one, is an odd way to enter the home!
Two items, of many, she failed to notice where:
• the pure, clean and bacteria free water -new water purification system = 7k
• no disruption of electricity when the multiple power outages occur each week - a new propane backup generator and 1000 gallon tank for backup electricity = 13k

We have 2 negative ratings on our property, both from people who live in the city and are accustomed to their daily city life vs. living in the forest. “Ms.” Dirty lives in Norwalk Ct. where the town is 100% urban and the average home costs 250% more than the national average. If you want to stay in a beautiful home that is not “perfect” but darn close, we offer OUR home to you. If you want a vacation that has daily cleaning via a maid service, room service and a concierge and is also comparable in design and the experience of our home, then I suggest you go to the Ritz.

Great Family Getaway

  • 4 of 5
A very comfortable house with a very nice deck and grill. Lovely kitchen with a nice array of dishes, utensils, cooking pans, serving pieces, etc. I think it would be nice if supplies such as, paper towels, napkins, dishwasher soap, toilet tissue etc were provided. Joining the Lake Naomi Club, which we did, is ESSENTIAL in my opinion.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words. Supplying the paper product is hard with the weekly summer turn around due to storage, etc.

Great house for large groups!

  • 5 of 5
This house exceeded our expectations on everything it offered! It had more than enough beds and bathrooms, and we got to see both sides of the family in one location. The 2 dishwashers and amount of dishes were a great advantage for the large group. Also, the central air for the grandparents worked great. There was plenty to do in the community for kids of all ages (our group ranged from 5 to 75). Also the information sent ahead of time helped us all have a wonderful vacation week. Thanks again for your great hospitality.

One of the best vacation house.

  • 5 of 5
This is one of the best and beautiful vacation house we had stayed this Memorial Day weekend for our family reunion and cant not wait to write this review. We love this house so much and its so well kept everything in good working condition and the huge kitchen with the side by side fridge/freezer,2 dishwasher plus the over size sink and the work table;plenty of pots and pans, cooking tools and lots of plates and bowls etc...the list goes on so it make the cooking so much easier and fun.The bedrooms are so spacious and so do the living room.and the little sitting room upstair with the nitendo game set up was great for the kids while the adults enjoy their talking and drinking downstair in the living room.We ate out on the deck one afternoon was great and comfortable.Oh,almost forgot to mention A VERY FRIENDLY FRIEND came by visited us while we are having breakfast Monday morning;all he wants was a good back a great way to end this vacation. We will definitely be back!

I would not go there again

  • 1 of 5
We are a group of students from NYC, and we visited the house Xmas 2010. The house condition is as shown in the pictures. But the heater was pretty weak for such a big house. You can not even fall asleep if you live in their bedroom upstairs. And also their equipments are much older than in their picture. TV and audio are small and hard to use, cook is not working well. If you go their, you would better take your thick sleeping bag and ready to eat food. Otherwise, it is too freezing and you will wait for hours to get your food done.

Owner's Response: The homes we rent are the nicest in the area and have been featured in the NY Times.

Since the home is so large we keep the temperature at 50 degrees when not in use during the winter. The home is over 3600 sq. ft. with cathederal ceilings so it takes awhile to come up to heat especially when it is 10 degrees outside.

I am guessing a student from NYC would have a smaller condo or apartment with other appartments being above and below so that they would not be used to a large home.

We have never received a complaint on appliances rather just the opposite. Is a 42" TV too small?

Great house!

We had 16 people, 7 adults, 5 teen, and 4 children and all were comfortable. The spacious kitchen with two dishwashers and an enormous side by side fridge/freezer made family meals easy. Only complaint...lack of towel racks in the bathrooms.
