Villa, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 5 Sleeps
Waimanalo Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on Oahu, with
five miles of undeveloped beach, white sand, turquoise water, and
stunning views of mountains ranges and off-shore islands. You will not
believe how beautiful it is here! Mostly the length of the beach is
either state park or public-accessible military reservations, making
it one of the least populated beaches on Oahu. This is one of the only
places in Hawaii where you can get away from to tourist mania, yet
still be central to all the tourist activities on the island.
Our vacation rental is ON the beach, meaning that you can walk
straight out your door, across the yard, and onto the beach without
ever seeing a car or road. Your bedroom has a beautiful panoramic view
of the water, as well as a panoramic view of the beautiful Ko'olau
mountains on the other side. The property is a beautifully-maintained
beach home with ample amenities, modern construction, and a clean
environment. You will be comfortable, clean, and peaceful.
This unit is an independent section of the home on this beautiful
property, with some shared amenities (such as washer/dryer, outdoor
shower, walkway to the water, etc.), but for the most part it is fully
independent. It has a large upstairs section with sleeping, kitchen,
casual, and patio areas, and a downstairs large room suitable for
additional sleeping and casual needs. If you have needs for more
guests, or wish to explore a larger and more high-end rental, our full
property can also be rented.
This property is in a residential neighborhood, with only a few
vacation rental prospects in the area (with even fewer on the beach!),
so if this kind of a getaway appeals to you, we encourage you to book
a reservation immediately. This is truly a one-of-a-kind experience,
where you can experience Hawaii as people who live here like to
experience it, and it is perfect for the "off the beaten path" vacation!

Perfect location for an off the tourist path vacation
Laura and Dean stay at the front building and the beach cottage is located behind it, totally separated from theirs with a little courtyard in between. Everything is very tastefully decorated. The beach cottage has two levels each with an own bathroom and shower. The bigger room upstairs has a kitchen unit with a table to dine on, a balcony, and king size bed. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed with a fold-out couch. Our two year old loved running around on the lawn and observing the bunny and the guinea pig, which are outside in the yard in a little open enclosure.
Waimanalo is a very rural, little town/village with not much going on. It has about 4 restaurants/cafes with decent food, which are located right at the highway. Our favorite spot was Sweet Home Waimanalo, which has tasty local food. Kailua is about a 10-15 minutes drive with two Safeways and a Whole Foods. The property is located conveniently to explore the island. The property is located conveniently to explore the island. We drove twice to the North Shore and twice to Waikiki and also visited Pearl Harbor.
Laura and Dean are lovely, quiet people who leave you alone unless you need something and want you to enjoy the awesome place they call home.
Paradise on Oahu
~ Aloha ~
Upon our arrival, I was pleased to find the home clean and ready for us. The photos are exactly what you get, steps from the beach.
Laumilo Street is quiet and there are very few people on the beach. Not at all like Waikiki, where you have to search for a place to put your towel! There are beach towels, beach chairs, sand toys, kayaks, stand up boards & boogie boards for your use. It's nice to be able to use these items and not have to worry about renting them.
Waimanalo Beach has the perfect boogie boarding waves for hours of fun!
It's wonderful to start each day with breakfast on the lanai. Having a kitchenette for quick meals & snacks is very convenient. Laura also has ice chests available so that you can bring lunch to the beach.
Having TV's and wi-fi available were really appreciated and convenient, for both kids and adults.
Ono Steak & Shrimp barbeque and 7-11 are close by for a quick slurpee, meal or Malasadas on the beach. McDonalds is just down the road to satisfy those cravings, as well. We did not try any other nearby places.
You will likely want a car, so that you can explore around the island.
Make sure and drive down the road 15 minutes to Kailua and stop at Island Snow for some delicious shave ice.
Our family had a wonderful vacation at Waimanalo Beach! I highly recommend this home, and hope to stay again! :)
Peaceful place in paradise!
The beach. I can't say enough about the beach right out back. Every time it came into view it took my breath away with the amazing color and view of the distant islands. The water was warm and the waves were playful, yet safe. No undertow or sudden drop-offs. We saw numerous turtles swimming fairly close to shore. Because it is a residential area, there aren't crowds like you will find at Lanakai and Kailua beaches (and I don't think those beaches are any better than the beach at the home, anyway). The kids (age 7 and 10) played for hours with the boogie boards and I used the SUP frequently. There are also kayaks available. We traveled to many places and beaches around the island, but the kids always wanted to get home quickly in order to swim at "our beach." Did I mention the color of the water? Yes, it's THAT blue.
There is a shop for groceries in Waimanalo and Kailua has many restaurants/shops and is a 10-15 minute drive away. If you want to attend a luau, the Chief's Luau is a mere 10 minutes down the road and quite good.
I would love to return some day and we were all quite sad when our holiday is over.
Great Family Vacation
The house is truly lovely. Very well decorated and the kitchen is stocked with plenty of pots and pans, coffee maker, glasses, plates, etc, everything you need. There is a small grill out on the balcony. It was nice to be able to make simple meals and not have to eat out all the time.
The owner, Laura, is very nice, and made us feel very welcome.
The island is not large, so it was easy to take the kids to see many of the sights. We would recommend snorkeling in Hanauma Bay, touring Pearl Harbor, hiking Diamond Head, shopping at the Aloha Market, The Bishop Museum, and definitely go to the Polynesian Cultural Center for the day and stay for the show, “Ha: Breath of Life.”
Our kids said that playing on the beach at the beach house was their favorite part of the trip!
Best vacation ever!
