Cabin, 5 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, Sleeps 10

The Skipper has built his large, custom built log home in the gated community of Brookside Forest on 3 1/2 acres. The cabin is beautifully decorated and has five bedrooms, three baths and lovely views of the mountains. The cabin entry brings you into the livingroom, dining area and kitchen, all with cathedral beam ceilings, hardwood oak floors, a beautiful stone fireplace with a 42' plasma television and a 5.1 home theater system. The five bedrooms consist of the Master with one King sleigh bed, the second and third bedrooms with Queen size beds. The fourth and fifth bedrooms each have a set of antique twins on the lower level. The Master bath contains a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. The lower level has an Irish Pub Bar for entertaining family and friends. Three large decks facing west with two sunsets per night from the different deck elevations. One elevation has a 6 person hot tub! The lower level has a billiard room, dart board, family room and Pub bar with a second stone gas fireplace. 2717 sq feet of living area. Plenty of room for family gatherings. Luxury and comfort at its best! Compare costs to other 5 bedroom homes in the area.

A preliminary inspection visit can be arranged.

A wonderful vacation experience

  • 5 of 5
My family and I so enjoyed this spectacular home and setting for our celebration weekend. The pictures do not do it justice. This is a beautiful, expansive log home that could be featured in Homes Beautiful Magazine, yet it has all the warmth and charm and joy of a family home. Many fun sites to see around the area, as well. Thank you so much, Commander, for sharing this extraordinary place with us, and for your service to our great country. Cathy, Dana, Alex, and Tyler

Great home - owners who care about your experience

  • 5 of 5
Commander's "In Port" Cabin was everything as advertised...and then some. Very comfortable and well cared for home. Plenty of room with great hot tub, pool table and home theatre set-up.
As a bonus, owners (Randy) actually called to welcome us to the home and gave us instructions about hot tub and home theatre to insure we didn't have any issues working equipment.

Our family had a great weekend and the comfort of the cabin was big part of it.
Thank you for allowing to use your cabin...we loved it!

Owner's Response: Glad everyone enjoyed their visit! Come again during the fall finale of the year and see the leaves changing to brilliant reds, yellows and golds...a beautiful site from the hot tub and all the decks surrounding the cabin.

Great Family Vacation Cabin!

  • 5 of 5
What a great spot for a mini family reunion! Quiet, relaxing soaks in the hot tub, beautiful sunsets in the evening and plenty of room for the kids to play!

While there don't miss an opportunity to dine at the Point of View restaurant in Lake Lure. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff is very accommodating!

All in all, a wonderful place to stay!

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay! Lake Lure us a "jewel" of an area. Come again when the leaves are changing. The mountain behind the cabin is beautiful from all of the cabin decks when the leaves are changing to red, gold, and yellows!

Great getaway close to Asheville

  • 5 of 5
This was our first family trip to the mountains and we are making this a yearly vacation getaway. The cabin and amenities were fantastic. The cabin made you feel like you were at your own families home and you were able to truly relax. You are about a 40 minute drive to Biltmore Estate and Downtown Asheville. If you are looking for a cabin that is clean, offers full amenties and is quiet and cozy I would recommend this cabin in a heartbeat.

Best Thanksgiving ever!

  • 5 of 5
Randy , Wow, words can't express how wonderful our stay was at your beautiful cabin in Lake Lure! My husband and I spent a few days alone with our son before the rest of the clan started to arrive. We were able to enjoy the peace and quite (minus the 2 yr old) and took in the beauty of the surrounding mountain ridge. The weather was unseasonably warm so we were able to spend tons of time outdoors and came home each evening to snuggle near the fire. I think my husband was able to golf 3 or 4 times during the trip so he was happy and the whole family took your advice on the horse riding trial too. Once the family started to arrive things just got better. We had plenty of room to share with each person getting a bed (11 total) and we all had space to ourselves when we wanted it. The twenty something girls took over the basement area until we crashed their party to beat them at pool. We were all able to enjoy the hot tub in the evenings with wine in hand. My husband is from Baltimore and said he had never seen so many stars in his life, he felt like we were at a private planetarium viewing!

Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful thanks to my husband "the chef" and we had everything we could have possibly needed at our fingers tips thanks to your well stocked kitchen. A special thank you for the extra wine glasses, turkey platter and gravy boat you provided just for us. You really know how to make your guest feel special!

Our week past a little too fast but that's what happens when your having a great time with the ones you love. We drove to Asheville for a day and spent several exploring Lake Lure and your community. My mom and a family friend even went to Cherokee from there. You really have it all ( location, amenities, charm) we wouldn't change a thing! We all drove down/ up from several states to meet as a family and because it was so great to get away and see family we are all talking about doing the samething next year!

An extra thank you for being kind enough to mail our missing items!

If your thinking of getting away, this is a must stay location. Couples or families it's fantastic!

Relaxing Mountain Retreat

  • 5 of 5
This charming "cabin" has all the amenities of home while cloaked in the romantic, seemingly isolated, woods surrounding Lake Lure. Sip coffee in the morning while watching the sunrise from a rocker on the front deck; enjoy a glass of wine at sunset from the hot tub or relax and count the stars from the rear decks. Our vacation was made more enjoyable by the well-appointed kitchen with its array of small appliances-I setup the crockpot in the morning, freeing us to explore the local tourist sights, hike the mountains, and visit the Biltmore. Recreational amenities in the cabin include fun in the hot tub, billiards, darts, and board games. Outside the flora provides an ever changing panorama of color within the hardwood forest punctuated by the occassional deer inside the gates of this bucolic neighborhood. We highly recommend the Commander's "in port" and plan on returning to this large, spacious home which radiates a sophistated, rustic warmth for our next family vacation.
