What a great place to be!

  • 5 of 5
My family and I had a really positive experience staying at this ocean front house for a much needed reunion. Upon walking in, we were stunned by the beautiful location, and the general openness of the home. Clean towels, food in the pantry, BBQ equipment - well prepared for guests. Lots of windows and light coming in. Very clean and comfortable. We were also close in proximity to the shopping center in Newport, and the scenic beaches & trails nearby. Plenty of room for the older folks to hang out in the common areas, easy access to the beach for the kids to go playing on the beach.
Overall, I would definitely recommend others to rent this house, and in fact, we are planning to go back next summer!! Looking forward to trying out the newly installed hot tub to be sure!

The perfect vacation

  • 5 of 5
The perfect way to decompress after the hectic holiday season is to sit on a deck overlooking the pacific ocean on the Oregon coast! The deck here is fantastic and has a view like no other! I loved staying at this house! It was truly the get away vacation we needed to rejuvenate! Very relaxing.

Not worth the money

  • 3 of 5
Buyer beware! We drove for 11 hours to stay here for a week...10 of us. We were so disappointed once we walked in and tried to get settled. The only updating that had been done since the pictures were taken was some different furniture and a white rug in the living room. There were no bikes as advertised, no hot tub, the ocean views from the bedrooms were next to impossible to see because of the overgrown hedges outside. Curtains fell off in your hands when you tried to open them. My daughter in law couldn't stand all the cobwebs on the walls so she vacuumed the walls in the bedroom they stayed in. Mold in the hall bath, my husband had to fix the nozzle in the same bath before we could shower/bath. The bath in the one bedroom had a large crack in the bottom of the tub. Our sheets had red hair all over them (no one in our family is red headed). My daughters bed smelled of pet urine so she washed all the bedding. (after driving 11 hours)
If you do rent the house, bring your own condiments and cooking seasonings...the ones in the house are either expired or really old/nasty. You can't see the oven controls to know what temp you are setting. One burner knob is missing and another burner turns on and off while cooking. There is no storage space for any food you might bring. Freezer space is very limited because of the icemaker shelf being gone so a tub sits lower in the freezer and takes up room. Beware of the dishes/glasses/silverware...most were dirty and we had to run a full load of dishes before we could even eat.
When we arrived we discovered one dirty dish cloth and used sponge had been provided for us to use in the kitchen, called owner and she confirmed that's what was available to us.
I specifically emailed owner in advance to double check some items in the kitchen, one being a crockpot. We planned a meal for the crockpot. Couldn't use the one in the home because it was cracked completely through to the bottom.
The grill provided that we searched for and found in the garage was so disgusting from not being cleaned I called the owner again. She did go out and buy a grill, we had to put it together if we were going to use it.
The deck furniture was dirty/chipped paint so not really a good idea to "lounge" in.
The trail was impossible for 8 of us to use....the two younger men were able to get down the trail but even they had difficulty getting back up.
I can say with no regret that this house was not worth the money spent.

Owner's Response: We have hundreds of satisfied guests annually that stay at our Newport Beach home and high percentage of returns.

These guests booked their June reservations in February. The hot tub and additional deck was constructed late May NOT offered or available to June guests. A courtesy call to our guests were made to let them know that there will be no construction during their stay.

Other guests were contacted who stayed at our beach home before and after these particular guests to acquire their opinion of their stay. All satisfied with their stay though some agreed to some of the cleaning issues. The cleaning issues have been addressed and corrected.

Beautiful view with lots of room

  • 4 of 5
We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home. Family get together to celebrate our 46th aniv. and husbands 65th birthday. Kids came from California and Portland. Large rooms, well stocked kitchen, lots to see in the area, beautiful views. Comfie beds. Very easy for my disabled husband to get around. We would recommend this house for almost anyone. The only things that gave us a bit of a problem was , the fridge didn't work at first ( but was just turned down) couldn't find the light for the garage. Couldn't figure out how to work the oven( could get it on but couldn't set the temp) instructions would help. Guest shower knob didn't work ( needed to be tightened) but this was all minor. The beach access was more difficult than I had hoped, so us old folks didn't do the beach much, but the younger ones did. Thank you for sharing your home with us, it made our celebration very nice with lots of great memories. Oh and the dog loved it too.

Wonderful famly vacation stay

  • 5 of 5
We arrived with 3 teenage girls, my mother in law, aunt and uncle in two vehicles. Lots of room for everyone! My husband enjoyed the ability barbecue and the kitchen was excellent with plenty of tools, dishes and cooking gear. The waffle iron was awesome!! The walk to the beach was risky to go down the cliff but you know the teens did it. Uncle and I walked to the park and down which was much easier. Loved the location - so close to every thing! Would also recommend Local Ocean and Ocean Blue at Gino's. We went to Gino's twice! Able to see the lighthouse, the aquarium, the OSU marine center, walk on the beach, do some shopping, and had a great time! Thank you!

Wonderful location!

  • 4 of 5
We met our kids, my husband's sister, and brought our border collie to this bluff top cozy home. The kitchen made it easy to make and share meals. We played many, many games and I taught my daughter to make her first baby quilt. What fun for us. The location is exceptional - right above the beach, and within a block or two of our favorite happy. Hour bar at Georgie's. Our dog LOVES to run on the beach, which was only lightly visited by others during our December stay. Private parking allowed us to bring several vehicles, which was a definite plus for this location.
