Glen Lake House

  • 4 of 5
Our extended family of gandparents (2), 4 sons and wives, and 9 grandchildren ages 10 and under, enjoyed our week's stay at this house. Each family had 1-2 bedrooms each and their own bathroom. Most of the bedrooms have a window air-conditioner. The house was furnished casually, so we were comfortable, but didn't have to worry about the children getting into things they should not get into. The children enjoyed exploring this big, old, sprawling house. We enjoyed the big yard with the lake right in the backyard. Our children loved the boat house, and used it as their own club house. The water is shallow for quite a distance so we were not worried about the children playing in the water. (Of course, there was an adult around at all times). Grandpa had a boat which added to the fun in the water. There is no dock, but we could tie the boat to an anchor. There are many scenic areas nearby. Our family enjoyed hiking up the dunes, sight-seeing, floating in the Platt River that flows into Lake MI, etc. Cherry Republic is in the nearby town of Glen Arbor, which was a highlight of the week with its many tasting cherry items. The dishwasher quit working while we were there, but the owner had a new dishwasher in place the next day. We wish there were another refrigerator as refrigerator space is limited with the number of people we had there. Otherwise the kitchen was furnished with what we needed for the week. We wish we knew that an automatic sprinkling system turns on at 6:45 a.m., but after the first day, we were prepared! Overall, our experience was pleasant, and our week went much too fast!
