The downstairs has three bedrooms. One room has a queen and twin bed. The other two rooms have queen beds, each with a sliding glass door that exits out to a deck. Here you can enjoy a hot tub with views . In the wintertime, you can watch skiers short cut home from Alpine Meadows through the front yard, and in the summertime you can watch squirrels climb the trees. Surrounded by forestry land, and mountain views, you will want to spend ample time here. After the hot tub, head to the sauna. The sauna has plenty of room to lay down in, and is great for a long day of skiing. Next to the sauna is a changing area and with a "Finnish" touch. Cool off in the shower room with four shower heads and glass atrium that looks out into the forest. The changing area is also connected to a full bathroom.

The bedrooms are carpeted and the hallway has Mexican tile flooring that continues up the stairs. The second level has 22 foot cathedral ceilings with floor to ceiling windows to maximize the exceptional view of Twin Peaks. Two sliding glass doors exit out to a sunny wrap around deck with a barbecue, and patio furniture depending on the season. The kitchen overlooks the living and dining area. The living area has couches that face a large stone fireplace, and entertainment center with TV, DVD and stereo. The dining area has a large table with benches, pillows, and chairs. The kitchen is separated by a granite countertop, and is equipped with all the necessities for cooking and entertaining. From all areas in the main area, you can watch TV, enjoy the fireplace and views, or socialize with the rest of your group.

Off the living area is another full bath attached to a bedroom with queen bed. Next to that room is the Master Bedroom. There is a King-size sleigh bed with half bath off a changing area and walk in closet. Indirect lighting and views of the forest make this room a bonus. Up the stairs from the living area, is an enclosed loft with pool table, and two twin beds. Play pool during the day, and use the room for sleeping at night.

We just returned from our thrid stay at this Chalet and it was the best yet! This is the perfect place for our three families to get together for some quality family time in the lovely town of Tahoe City. The Cabin is nestled high in the woods and we were so happy to get some fresh snow! The front yard is great for playing in the snow and some serious sledding We were an easy walk to a day at Alpine Meadows ski resort. And coming home to a warm jacuzzi and sauna was the perfect end to that day! Most of the time we just enjoyed relaxing in the spacious house by the fire and watching movies, playing games, eating home cooked meals in the great kitchen, etc. We never wanted to leave! Thank you so much for sharing your awesome mountain home!

Ideal Vacation Rental

We rented the home for a long weekend, we were 8 people and all of us enjoyed our stay very much. The house was clean, well maintained and with everything needed for us to cook, play cards, sit at the sofas, enjoy the view and relax. We had all our meals on the nice patio tables on the deck. The deck faces an incredible mountain range with fantastic views. At night the stars were countless. The view from the deck is so relaxing, just sitting there made the weekend worthwhile; we even got to see a little fox walking around the driveway! Thanks Sandy!

""This House Rocks"!!!"

I wanted to surprise my husband for his birthday in a big way and not with the typical party. Our family is spread out from Ca., AZ, MD and Ga. We have 5 granddaughters ranging in age from 9 months to 7 years, who have never been together due to the distance between us. This was the perfect opportunity to get everyone together. After searching numerous properties all over as the choices were many we settled on he alpine Chalet. We could not have been happier. This home more than accommodated the 5 girls and 8 adults in our party.
The home is beautiful both inside and out. Everything was well maintained and fully stocked with all the necessities.
The location to area attractions was great. We all loved being so close to Skiing, but close enough to Tahoe City to enjoy the local eateries. Our younger but legal aged adults enjoyed Pete n Peters which is a local sports bar. My husband and son enjoyed exploring all the great skiing trails at alpine Meadows. Unfortunately only got three days in due to a huge storm that left amazing skiing for the the remainder of the party who arrived over the weekend. We still had a blast watching the home movies and hanging out, with some of us in the hot tub. You have never experienced a hot tub until done outside, on a covered deck with 3 feet or snow coming down Lol.
The mountain views are spectacular as the house faces a beautiful mountain range. I would strongly recommend this property to any type of group from family getaways, to girls or guys weekends, to multiple couples. Something for everyone. I know if I plan another trip to the area I won't have to look far for a place to stay.
Thank you Sandy for opening your home!!!

wonderful stay

We stayed for 6 nights February 2009. This house was really nice, very roomy. Excellent location, particularly for those who ski and wish to have immediate walking access to the slopes. The combination of such close access to both the slopes and the town is quite a plus. It was perfect for our stay.

Incredible home: Perfect location, great for families, gracious hosts!

We love this place! It is perfectly located just off the slopes right by the Sherwood lift at Alpine Meadows. Nothing quite compares to finishing your day skiing into the backyard, clicking out of your bindings, and heading straight for the hot tub! The rooms are beautifully decorated, and there's tons of sleeping space, equally divided over the 3 floors. The top floor great room have awesome views. This a great place for one large family, or several vacationing together. We're a big family, and it worked great for us. Can't say enough about this place. I highly recommend it!!!

Activity and Interests

Located in one of the most desired neighborhoods on the North Shore, you are walking distance to the back side of Alpine Meadows with privileges. There is a private parking pass that will allow you to park right at the Sherwood lift, a quad high speed chair, and get on! Alpine Meadows allows the homeowners living in this neighborhood and/or guests to start here without at ticket and ski to the front side to purchase it. The homeowners have their own snow grader which purposely leaves enough snow along the roads so you can ski home if you want to leave your group. Don’t ski? Enjoy the hut at the lift for morning coffee, lunch, or just watching all the activity on the hill. In the summertime, the cat tracks become a playground for mountain biking and hiking. Endless trails with Lake views and wildflowers will keep you entertained. The snow melts into Ward Creek which is easily accessed from the house, known for its trout fishing. Tennis? yep…2 homeowner tennis courts are here for your use. Ward Valley is known for its peaceful setting of houses divided by forest land and views that are breathless. Just up from the Lake at Sunnyside Resort, you have total peace at the house, and 3 miles away you’re at the Lake with shops, restaurants, nightlife, and an array of activities. Tahoe City is the city to be in on the North Shore. With Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, and Homewood at your doorstep, you won’t be able to ski a run twice. The winter months is a haven for skiing, snow boarding snow snowmobiling. cross county skiing, and with its backdrop the Lake.. you can’t beat the experience. Summer is as good as the winter.

The Truckee River opens its doors to the melting snow which offers a nice river for rafting. You can pick up your raft in Tahoe City and cruise down to River Ranch. Its mild enough for the whole family. At River Ranch there is a large outdoor deck with BBQ, outdoor bars, and a great spot to watch the rafters come it. Raft 1 day, bike another. You can access the bike path from the house that will meander along the Truckee River to Truckee. River Ranch is a 1/3 way point. Tahoe City boasts Commons Beach, but some of the best beaches on the Lake are found on the West Shore. Meeks Bay has a beach that will remind you of being in a cove somewhere in Hawaii but with mountains. Pristine, crystal clear blue water, white sand beach, smell of tall pines, views of mountains. Its a wonderful setting for a picnic. Chambers Landing is known for the long pier/dock with bar and restaurant at the end of it. This is where all the great wooden boats eventually stop at for a refreshment. The beach is beautiful here, and the entertainment remember able. Can’t beat the lakefront restaurants. West Shore Cafe has dining on their pier, with large deck, outdoor bars, and incredible food. 3 miles from the house is Sunnyside Resort with outdoor deck, boat rentals, pier and definitely an afternoon libation. You’ll find a multitude of lake front venues in downtown Tahoe City. Lake Tahoe is truly a special place, and this is a special house to enjoy it in.
