This is the youngest house on a historic street corner. It was build in about 1925 from materials salvaged form other properties. The other three properties all date from soon after the war of 1812.

The house is decorated in a Moroccan style with a Turkish chandelier over the dining table, a Moroccan lamp over the kitchen table.

-The veranda has seating for 6 where many repeat guests love to toast the horse drawn carriages while wind tasting in the afternoon. It is also a favourite for morning coffee.

-The house is 1 block from the main shopping area & Restaurants

-The Shaw Theatres are a 3-5 minute walk away

-Gas barbecue & Moroccan tiled table (sits 8) in your own private Moroccan Garden (see photo)

-Hardwood floors & hand knotted Persian rugs throughout

-A large dining/living room with lots of opening windows & a gas fireplace

-Main floor den with Cable TV, VCR/DVD, CD/cassette sound system plus many books

-Natural gas heat for winter and central AC for the summer period

I love Niagara on the Lake and in particular the old town. That is why both of my homes (I own Marrakech Mansion as well) are located a short walk from Queen street. My wife and I treat both houses a our own get-away-place so maintain them like we do our own home.

Cozy, Convenient Cottage

The location of Casablanca Cottage makes this an ideal place for everything you might want to do in Niagara-on-the-Lake. We parked our car and never needed it again until we were ready to leave. Having to accommodate two special health diets, we found the kitchen exceptionally well organized and stocked with everything we needed to prepare our meals. The cottage was immaculate, cozy and comfortable with many amenities including the courtyard/patio with gas grill and beautiful landscaping. There were even large umbrellas which we found we needed on several walks to the theaters. We completely enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning to Casablanca again.

Owner's Response: Casablanca Cottage is located 1/2 block from Queen street, less than a block from the grocery store and the Royal George Theatre. It really is very central to the things you want to see and do in Niagara on the Lake. We landscaped the garden a few years ago and planted lots of hostas, ferns and shrubs. A few annuals each year add some colour. Hopefully you will need the umbrellas to keep the sun off, not the rain when you visit our town.

Family reunion

Lovely home. Very comfortable and plenty of room for the six (older) adults we had for our sibling gathering Perfect location for the busy town. Quiet street. The side yard was lovely and grilling was a plus. Parking for one car. Free street parking on side street but you really have to keep the car there and not move it! That street starts the first free parking and workers in town know it so they park there for their whole shift. It opens up later in the evening. If you time it right. The first day it was a hassle but once we secured a spot we didn't move the car. Something to note if you have numerous cars and want to do site touring with more than one vehicle. Second full bath is in the basement. I found it lovely and acceptable. And it is a cute bathroom for shorter people! Others may not want to go to the basement to shower. But the basement was clean and very tidy so it did not throw us off. All in all it was a wonderful place to have our visit and we all said we could live there! We may try Marrakech Mansion next time!

Owner's Response: You are right about parking: The good news is it is free, the bad news the people working downtown park there early in the day. As you found the parking spots empty out later in the day and you can grab one and hang on to it. The basement shower was built by a previous owner who was indeed short. But you have to love his sense of humour by adding a glass ceiling! Thank you for your review and I hope to see you and your friends again.

Want a getaway in a charming, cozy, clean, comfortable, colorful cottage where only a 2 minute walk provides access to great restaurants, theaters, unique shops? Well, you can't go wrong with Casablanca Cottage.

My husband and I just completed a snowy, beautiful month's stay that included the Christmas holidays. We couldn't have been more content. Fully stocked with any and all amenities, owner Don George is a hands on guy. Problem, question, his response is immediate and unobtrusive. He truly cares. He even decorated the cottage for the holidays, an added bonus.

There is an ample supply of videos, books, and a charming fireplace that adds to the character and charm. The warm colors and attention to details reveal owners who take pride in their accommodation. The furnishings are perfectly appropriate and plentiful. We immediately felt at home.

Our only regret was that the winter weather did not allow us to take advantage of the porches, deck, and delightful garden.

I can't imagine anyone who would be unhappy with this delightful home.

Winter Wonderland

What a wonderful weekend! There were 8 of us girls staying at Casablanca Cottage. The house was cozy and warm and perfectly located for all of our activities. On Friday night, the street in front of the house was full of people enjoying the annual Candlelight Stroll. A makeshift bandstand featured jazzy holiday singers just two doors down. On Saturday, we attended the Holiday House Tour and 5 of the beautiful homes were within easy walking distance.

The house itself is colorfully decorated, with plenty of comfy seating and bedding. The kitchen was well stocked with pots,pans ad utensils, which we put to good use for Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast.

While the wintry weather kept us inside, we all wish we could return to enjoy the spacious front porch and rear garden - spectacular in the warm months, I'm sure!

All-in-all, a perfect vacation rental in picturesque Niagara on the Lake.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. As you mentioned the house is 1/2 block from Queen street so it is hard to get any closer to activities in old town. We decorated both of our houses in a style that we enjoy (I own Marrakech Mansion as well) the bright yellow (Peach butter from Para) is the main paint colour in both rental houses and our own home. The beds are mostly new and the Winter Duvets from Ikea are warm. I change the duvets in summer to a lighter weight. When you rent vacation home you should expect it to be clean, well equipped and comfortable, all things I try hard to achieve.

Casablanca Cottage in NOTL!

Don, Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to stay at your fabulous Casablanca Cottage! It is a lovely home; impeccably kept and decorated. I was never a big fan of yellow, but I am now! And of course how can I leave out "Location, location, location!"? Just a short block from beautiful Queen Street and another short distance to Queen's Royal Park on Lake Ontario. I miss my daily early morning stroll to the gazebo, followed by breakfast on the cottage's front porch. The photos and the reviews certainly set our expectations high and The Cottage exceeded them all! We fell deeply in love with Niagara on the Lake. It is definitely one of the prettiest towns we have ever seen and the people were warm and friendly. Surrounded by wineries and just a short drive to Niagara Falls, it is truly difficult to beat. We are definitely planning on returning next year and making NOTL regular destination. Thanks again,

Clean is high on my list of priorities, we stay in Vacation Rental properties around the world and clean is important to us when we book so we know it is important to people who book my houses. The location of both of my houses (I own Marrakech Mansion as well) is within a block of Queen street where the restaurant's and theatres are located. The grocery store is a a block from both houses and as mentioned in the review Queens Royal Park and the Gazebo is an easy walk. I am of course happy that you enjoyed our town and found the people friendly. We would love to see you return to Niagara on the Lake for a future visit.

The house is unique. Built from reclaimed materials it has no two windows the same size, and lots of interesting corners to hide and relax in.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Beach : Port Dalhousie 9 Kilometres or 5.5 miles at 8.7 Kilometres Car: recommended

Niagara Falls is just a 15 minute drive away. The drive takes you through the wine region and past many of the area's 50+ wineries

all of which will welcome you in for a tasting.

The Shaw festival is at the heart of any Niagara on the Lake visit

with plays by George Bernard Shaw and contemporaries. Go to the Shaw

web site to view a list of plays and buy tickets. Buy your tickets

early however as they sell out quickly.

The war of 1812 between the British and the USA was fought right on

this ground. The town was burnt by retreating Americans in December

1813 (We have forgiven them!) Walk or bike the flat streets and

enjoy our history.
