The views grab you from every room, and each view is different and

interesting: the beach view is through the quad grounds and gets you

dreaming; the pool view will have you jumping in; the waterfall view

will take you to tropical islands. Enjoy the private balcony with

bar height chairs. Take the kids to the beach and use our sand toys,

boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas, and even wetsuits. Kick back

and watch a movie on the DVD player or VCR, or catch up on the latest

surf report before you head out using our high speed wireless


This great North Coast Village vacation condo has a king size bed, 2

twins, and a sleeper sofa. All linens and towels are supplied and

the kitchen is fully appointed for the simplest breakfast to a

gourmet dinner.

Our Home Away From Home

We've been staying at North Coast Village for 20 years and this is our second stay in this unit. Grace is the friendliest owner and the unit is a comfortable and well designed two bedroom, two bathroom unit with lots of room for family members who visit while we're there. There are ocean and pool views from both bedrooms and the deck. The unit is well stocked with boogie boards, wetsuits, beach chairs, towels etc. The large gated complex itself, with beautiful gardens throughout, and an outstanding pool and jacuzzi, is simply situated in the best location in Oceanside, on the long sandy beach between the famous 1900 foot pier and the marina. Everything is within walking distance, including many good restaurants and the Amtrak station, where the Coaster will take you along the scenic route into Old Town, San Diego in an hour. Our son hopped on an Amtrak train to a concert in Santa Ana, near Anaheim, south of L.A., for about $20 each way. We had another memorable time strolling along the beach, boogie boarding, watching beautiful sunsets, enjoying a wild Chargers football game and lots of great shopping. We can't wait until we return next year!

Great place for a vacation. I particularly liked how nice and clean everything was. The provided wetsuits and boogie boards were a nice touch. Loved the beach. The owner is very friendly and available if you need help, directions, etc. The complex pool and jacuzzi are just beautiful. The harbour and the pier made for some great walks. Would definitely visit again.

First and foremost, Grace is the nicest lady you will every meet in my eyes. She made myself and my family at home the whole week without crowding us or pressuring us in anyway. But if you needed something, she was johnny on the spot. The condo was spotless and more than adequately stocked with everything you need. You just supply groceries. My girls(ages 17,14,10), my wife and I have missed her and her place everyday since we left. All any of us can do is talk about wanted to go back. So Grace we miss you and your hospitality. Hope we can come back again and when we do. It won't be soon enough. As a matter of fact I already gave info to a few people and I hope they follow up with it.

Intrusive and unprofessional

Our family of 4 were greeted warmly by Grace upon arrival. However, during the course of our stay issues arose that we found disturbing. We booked the condo for 4 nights and did not stay the 4th night due to a family emergency and voluntarily forfeited the cost of the 4th night. During our booking, Grace assured us that my deposit would be returned prior to our departure. She failed to mention that on Friday (during our stay) there would be a 3 hour planned power outage. This was extremely inconvenient for our family since we remained indoors that day due to cooler weather. The kids couldn't watch TV and I couldn't use the internet for work. My understanding is that any interuption of service needs to be informed to the renter prior to the booking. She even made us do her work for her by repeatedly telling us to unplug all the TVs. And not only did she tell us, she came into our condo with her key while we were still sleeping, yelling "hello!" from the living room. I've never experienced such intrusiveness! We called her later that day to inform her of our early departure and asking her if she can do a walk thru so we could get our deposit $ as promised. She declined and said the condo would be cleaned on Saturday and she would send a check out then. We provided her with verbal contact info as well a written information in her unit. We never received any email confirmation for the booking so I asked her to send me an email detailing the rate, cleaning fees, $ owed etc. I haven't received an email to date nor a check. She calls me today (Wed) and tells me she mailed the deposit check out today and there was a delay because of a discoloration on the granite top from water. Maintenance came to take a look and apparently everything was ok. She also accused us of taking a red towel but a green one was left behind so that was ok. And before hanging up, she said by the way, she accidentally made the check out under my boyfriend's name rather than mine (which we specifically told her verbally and left my written name and contact info on who to make the check out to). We left her property in great condition. There was no discoloration on her granite countertop. We didn't take a towel nor bring any. Being a vacation rental owner of a property on vrbo and homeaway I am extremely disturbed by this experience and would never rent with her again. Let's see if I even get the deposit check she supposedly sent.

Owner's Response: We are so sorry that our guests did not have a relaxing vacation. Because of a cancellation, we offered our condo for the four nights at a 37% discount.
Regarding the deposit: Sometimes we are able to get the cleaning team in right away and are able to return the deposit that day, if that is what is desired. Many of our guests are repeat visitors and leave their deposit to reserve for the next year. We were happy to return the deposit to these guests within a week. We acknowledge that there was confusion about the deposit check. It was sent to Gregg since he made the reservation and we now realize that Lynette wanted it in her name and not Gregg’s.
Regarding the power outage: We attempted to tell our guests about the power outage by phone calls and notes on the door. We did knock on the door twice and waited for a response. We assumed they were out for the day. Grace entered the unit, announcing her presence at about 11:30 AM. Grace was startled to find someone in the unit after getting no response from phone calls or knocks on the door.
It is our policy to call guests when something is left behind (whether it’s a towel or a piece of jewelry).
We wish that this family did not have a family emergency and a stressful time, rather than having the relaxing time that most of our guests enjoy.

Good until the last day

The property was as advertised. The reception was good and the place was clean. However, we will not go back to this place as our camera was taken. We left the place early in the morning to get to the airport and the camera was left on the kitchen table by accident. When I called to inquire about the camera, we were told that it was not there. I explained where exactly it was left, but nothing was resolved. A sour ending with no pictures to remember the trip.

Owner's Response: When we received a call that a camera was misplaced, we checked the unit and it was not there. Our guest replied that it may have been left in the rental car. Of course, we want our guests to show their vacation photos to friends and family; that's our best form of advertising. Most of our guests are couples or families that return because they enjoy our great location and comfortable, clean unit. We do all in our power to make their stay as relaxing and fun-filled as possible because we hope they'll come again.
The family that stayed during these August dates in 2010, have already made their reservations for 2011.
We love renting our one unit because when people are on vacation they are always happy. We're sorry that these guests had a poor experience as they were leaving to return home.
