Ocean View = Instant Relaxation

  • 5 of 5
Steps from the ocean, unbeatable view and a cozy, well-kept cottage.

I've known this spot since childhood yet it's a hidden secret gem even to those from the area. Rented this for a special b-day celebration and it brought back instant memories of growing up just a few doors down.

A great mix of cottage living at the shore with modern amenities like cable & wi-fi (my 12-yr old twins were happy!) Rocky shore, but still great for swimming and a nice yard to sit, have some morning coffee and enjoy the view of boats, lighthouse and bridge.

Thanks, Joan - my days here were filled with memories past and made new ones, too!

Extraordinary Setting

  • 4 of 5
We just returned from a delightful 10 days at this cottage overlooking Narragansett Bay. Possibly the best view we've ever had at a vacation rental home, with plenty of interesting boats and wildlife on top of the stunning landscape. The waterfront access allowed for great kayaking and swimming (but water shoes recommended due to the rocky shoreline). We also enjoyed golf, biking and walking nearby (don't miss Colt State Park in Bristol). We like to cook and eat in so the kitchen was slightly small and under-stocked but we anticipated this and arrived with some specialty cooking gadgets and spices, etc. which allowed us to prepare several glorious meals eaten outside on the lawn under a setting sun. Clement's Marketplace was a big hit. Portsmouth itself is no tourist destination but both Newport and Bristol (each within 15-20 minutes) have plenty to offer. Finally, the cottage's neighborhood, essentially at the end of a cul de sac on an isolated point, guaranteed relaxation. Ideal for families with young kids.

A great retreat from the city

It is a really cute cottage, and the view is great from the living room. The Mount Hope Bridge is well lit at night and adds a touch of sparkle in the back drop.

The kitchen is a bit small if you plan to cook a lot, but with gorgeous yard next to water, my friends and I were more than happy to just BBQ so it wasn't not a problem for us.

The private pebble beach is definitely a plus, I would strongly recommend to bring your own water shoes. Though the owner has some in the house, we weren't really able to locate them. The water is really nice, and heats up in the morning due to the dark pebble. It is also very calm, so great for Kayaking not so great if you want some surfing actions.

The house keeper was very helpful in case you have any questions. The cottage's location was also great, it feels very secluded and the neighbors were extremely friendly. In case you want some actions, it is only 20 minutes drive to Newport, and you can pick up everything you need pretty much from the little college town right over the Mt Hope Bridge (only 5 minutes away). There is a great waterfront park in the town to, make sure you check it out.

i have been renting this home for the past 4 years with my husband and 2 children. the first time we went we were so happy with what we saw becuase sometimes when you rent off the interent you "just never know" the view from the living room is panaramic over looking the bay, light house and bristol bridge. what a great way to watch the sun set. the bay was lovely as my children went swiming in it everyday. the grounds were kept lovely as well as the interior of the home. the bedrooms were comfortable and there is just so much to do without even having to leave the house. newport is just a short drive away so to the mansions we would go. we continue to rent this particular property because it has always been kept emmaculate, its affordable and the view is just out of this world. my family looks forward to going every year.

We took our 3 kids and mother-in-law for a week to this little slice of heaven on Mt. Hope Bay. Although the kitchen is very small, the large great room/living room with all of its seating provided us with many hours of togetherness watching the sunsets over the water.

All bedrooms had queen size beds which were very comfortable, and linens, towels, lawn furniture, washer/dryer and other amenities were included.

The location is perfect: not in the heart of the Newport activity, but just the right distance away with quiet and privacy to spare.

A magical week; we can't wait to go back!
