Finch Cottage
Camano Island Puget Sound

Finch Cottage

  • 5 of 5
Our family of seven (grandparents, parents, and 3 children) enjoyed a wonderful stay at Finch Cottage recently. There was plenty of room for all of us without being crowded. The downstairs master bedroom suite is lovely and spacious with separate access to the deck and a spectacular view of the water. The upstairs two bedroom and the loft with sofas in the TV lounge easily accommodated the rest of the family. The cottage actually is a lovely private home, equipped with just about everything one can imagine or need at any one - and then some, including a fully equipped kitchen, linens and towels, and an amazing collection of collectibles and books.
The cottage is located on a private lane off the main rod, halfway down to the beach. The way down to the beach is steep, but it is worth it. Those not wanting to try the climb can enjoy the wonderful views from the deck. Also, Cama Beach State Park is only a mile away and has facilities for swimming, boating, crabbing, and other outdoor activities.
The owners are very friendly and very accommodating. We truly enjoyed our stay and give it our highest recommendations.

Camano Island Puget Sound

Three Families, One Location

We had never rented a house before and I can't even remember how I found this sight, but Camano Island has no hotels and this was the perfect spot for travel to a wedding on the island. So close and easy to get to the wedding sight.

We were three families. My husband and I and our two daughters each with a husband and three-year-old son. The layout of the house was perfect for our situation. The young families took the two upstairs bedrooms while my husband and I had the master suite downstairs. The house and property were arranged in such a way that there were plenty of places for privacy. The front entrance patio with table and chairs, the backside deck that went across the kitchen all the way to the master bedroom and the upstairs TV room all provided space to get away from everyone if you wanted.

The real plus in renting a house as opposed to three hotel rooms, was being able to be together after the boys were in bed. Two nights we spent around the fire pit talking, drinking beer and enjoying the sunset while taking turns listening for the boys inside.

Mornings were cool but watching the fog lift and an eagle soar was breath-taking. The beach was nearby but such a steep climb that it held no appeal to me. However, both of the girls ventured down with their families. The BIG fun for the boys was playing with the stones that made up much of the landscape on the property. While the kithen was VERY well stocked with every gadget imaginable, we kept our meals simple. . If you love to cook and want to take the time, this house has a huge collection of cookbooks, all the gadgets you'll need to get the job done and drawers and cupboards galore to search for all the stuff you'll need.

Dust bunnies and cobwebs were present here and there and the master jetted tub looked like it hadn't been used in a long time, but all-in-all the house was clean and comfortable. The sheets and towels were freshly laundered. The air conditioning was appreciated. Our overall experience was really good and we would certainly rent this property again. Rosemary is easy to work with and to contact by e-mail and phone. We probably should have been in touch with her while at the house when we had questions but we muddled our way through and I think we were happy with each other and the care taken of the property.
