House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 6 Sleeps
Free high-speed WIFI
Looking for a relaxing northern Michigan family get-a-way? This is it!
Located just minutes east of Cheboygan, Michigan in a wooded setting is Cordwood Point. This two-bedroom cottage sleeps six comfortably. Even though the cottage is not on the water, it is just across a quiet paved road and through a wooded park. Less than 200 feet from your door to Lake Huron. Its like having a private park and beach for you and your family.
From the beach, you can swim, walk miles of scenic Lake Huron shoreline, or just sit in the swing and enjoy the view. Speaking of great views, during the summer the sun rises and sets over the lake. You won't find that combination in many places. Lake Huron is shallow in the area with a sandy bottom and is great for wading and swimming. And, if you are up for a little adventure, the remains of a sunken ship are within snorkeling distance straight out from the beach.
In September and October the days are generally clear and crisp and the fall colors are spectacular. December, January, February and March generally bring plenty of snow. Snowmobile trails to Cheboygan, Black Mountain, Indian River and Mackinaw City are accessible a short trailer from the house. There are cross-country trails nearby or you can ski or show shoe along the Lake Huron shore.
The cottage has a typical northern Michigan look about it and is only steps from Lake Huron. The kitchen was recently remodeled and we also installed a washer and dryer.
You could spend twice the money for a similar rental on the lake. Or, stay less than a minute off the water and save the difference for your family.
About the Owner
My wife Joanne's parents rented a summer home on the Cheboygan River for many years. Soon after we married we also began vacationing in Cheboygan. In 1989 we purchased the house as our vacation and summer weekend home. We enjoyed the Cheboygan area and Cordwood Point so well that we decided when we retired it would be here.
From the Owner
“In 2004, with retirement on the horizon, we began planning a new home. One of the first decisions we had to make was what to do with the original house. We had made a lot of improvements to the cottage and over the years created a lot of great family memories. We really didn't want to tear it down. We also have a large family. More than could fit into our new home if they all visited at the same time. We decided, if we could find a lot near one of the four Cordwood Point parks, we would move the house and use if for family and as a rental. As luck would have it, we were able to purchase a lot directly across from the park closest to our home. Our adult children and grand kids use the cottage some of the time and continue to make new memories. And for the past eight years we have rented the cottage in the summer, fall and occasional the winter. The families who rent from us, must be making memories too, because many of them also return year after year.”
Activity and Interests
After your time along the shore or on the trails, you will want to see what else the area has to offer. Cheboygan offers unique shops and restaurants for our enjoyment. Just a short drive further west is Mackinac City with more shops, restaurants, ferries to Mackinac Island and a great view of the 'Mighty Mac' bridge. To the east is Rogers City and the Great Lakes Lore Museum. Along the way you will find the 40 Mile Point Lighthouse, the Old & New Presque Isle Lights and fine restaurant.
Summer, fall, winter or spring Lake Huron and our cottage is a great location and a great value for you and your family.

From the Owner
“On of the most unique things we discovered the first year we were here was the remains of a sunken ship in front of the park. This may not be of interest to everyone, but if you have a kayak or good rubber raft it is only about 100 yards from shore in ten to twelve feet of water.”
