Outstanding Retreat

  • 5 of 5
What a perfect location for a restful retreat from Seattle, with wildlife and beautiful views everywhere! Very comfortable space, thoughtfully furnished. It was a perfect, peaceful place to have a small family reunion, some beach adventures, and lots of wildlife encounters. As wonderful of the description is, it was even better than we expected. Thanks for the hospitality and sharing this incredibly rich location, with views of Hurricane Ridge in the Olympics and Mt. Rainier, when they decide to reveal their magical selves! We hope to return very soon!

Location

From the Owner

This is a small family owned business originally purchased in 1972 because of the Black Brandt geese that feed on our beach. At that time it was supposed to have been made into a marine research center because we own 10 acres of tidelands in front of the uplands. Unfortunately the gas crisis in the 1970's prevented the marine center from actually coming into existence so the place continued to operate as overnight cottages just as it had since the early 1930's. Since 1972 steady progress has been made to make the cottages comfortable to stay in all throughout the year. Yet the grounds still stay as natural as possible to encourage wildlife to forage & live here. To that end otter, deer, & many different birds can be seen here including the Black Brandt geese! The sky, the water, the mountains & the animals all seem to help keep the magic of this special place in our hearts.
