The Little Green Cottage by the Sea
Folly Beach Charleston Area

Always a pleasure!

This was our fifth year in a row in this cottage. Our dogs enjoy "people watching" from the porch, we enjoy watching the surf and the birds from the same porch! It has easy beach access, close to the preserve leading to Morris Lighthouse. It is a simple but clean cottage that has everything we need for a week at the beach. The restaurants in Folly Beach are welcoming and have good food and drink. Jack is an attentive but non-intrusive owner. Thanks for another wonderful week at the edge!

Paradise by the sea

This was a wonderful, reasonably priced rustic beach house right by the ocean. The view from the screen porch was breathtaking. It was the perfect get away for 3 older women and their dogs. It was clean and well supplied. Mr. Burg was quick to respond to any questions or issues. Thank you for sharing your home with us and we hope to return.

Owner's Response: The Little Green Cottage by the Sea is an old, very small, rustic, and quaint little house. It's the way beach houses used to be before the big "beach hotel houses" starting being built on the beach. Nice and Easy does it everytime at The Little Green Cottage by the Sea.

Great time at The Little Green Cottage by the Sea

Location, location, location! This cottage has it!! An older beach house with a screened porch overlooking the beach. Quiet end of the island. We had several wonderful days at the end of October. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: The Little Green Cottage by the Sea is a cozy little place on the beach. All of my guests like this quiet end of Folly Beach, with several hundred acres of pristine, undeveloped land at the east end of Folly.

Our second visit in three months!

  • 5 of 5
We were at the Little Green Cottage back in June. Upon seeing a Vacation Rentals ad come across my e-mail, I booked it on a whim at a time when my husband and I were desperate for a little get-away with some friends and our dog. What a wonderful, low-key, non frills trip. Breakfast at the Lost Dog, lunch on the beach, and wine on the screened porch in the evening while we listened to the waves and enjoyed the beautiful sunsets. We enjoyed our trip so much that we booked another stay in September. We hope to have another opportunity to go back, though the house is on the market now so who knows if that will happen.

The only downside to our September trip was that a realtor wanted to show the house/property. There's so much to do between going to the beach, driving the 3 miles to the business district for scrumptious food at the Lost Dog Cafe as well as other restaurants, or going into Charleston. It was difficult to be able to work that into the schedule without cramping our vacation relaxation mode. However, Jack was gracious enough to allow us to enjoy our vacation without the interruption of having to plan our day around the realtor's timetable so she apparently scheduled another time after we left, which was greatly appreciated.

Little Green Cottage is certainly nothing fancy but it's clean, cozy and has all that you need to wind down and relax. It's just a short meandering path to the beach (watch for sand burs!) and the shells are fabulous! There is nothing like the view and Jack is great to work with.

Wonderful Vacation Spot

This was our second visit to the green cottage. Everyone had a wonderful time. The porch is fabulous. We spent a lot of time listening to the ocean and watching for dolphins.

The location is wonderful; it is near the end of the island, so we get to miss the hustle and bustle and enjoy the quiet.

Small Family Gathering

We spent last Thanksgiving at the Tides - our first visit to Folly. We loved it and immediately began to plan for Thanksgiving 2013. Since we are more nature lovers than tourist-town lovers, we looked for a small cottage near the light house. The Little Green Cottage is "six houses" from the end of East Ashley and has quick access to miles of protected beach depending on the tides, with great views of the Morris Island lighthouse, dolphins feeding in the inlet, etc. and sounded perfect for us. We had originally thought there would just be three adults (and two dogs, of course) spending Thanksgiving week on Folly - my husband and I from Asheville, and my brother from Cary. So our younger brother (age 50+) and his wife (baby in the crowd) who live in Florida were able to join us for part of the week, even though they would be sleeping on the pull out sofa. So considering were are all crotchety old folks, we had a great time! The cottage had pretty much everything we needed, and as other folks have reported, any minor concern was quickly remedied after a consult with Jack. Don't know how often 'mature' folks sleep on the pull out sofa, but Baby Brother suggests maybe a newer one might be in order. : ) But real kids probably wouldn't notice. The weather was up and down this year (very sunny and warm last year, so you never know) with temps at freezing a couple of mornings and shorts weather later in the week. Even when the rain and wind were roaring outside, the view from the sofa out the few feet to the surf was very cozy and such a treat for us mountain folk. And when weather was chilly, the cottage was warm and cozy.

Cary Brother is an early morning exerciser, so one morning he got a thrill. He was out for his walk around sunrise with the tide going out, so beach walking was excellent. Where a creek runs in to the inlet, numerous dolphins were feeding there, because the fish they were eating would have been coming out of the creek with the tide. He had the beach to himself. Wish us sleep-heads had been there! If you google 'dolphins stranding' and folly beach you'll see a video of this amazing sight.

So if you are looking for a small, simple, no frills cottage with a fantastic view and no tourist center hubbub - as well as a terrific deck on which to grill your Thanksgiving or Christmas swordfish, this is the place. Thank you so much, Jack.
