Casual but elegant living on the town side of Icebox Hill with lovely views of the city, both day and night and a magical view of the cathedral. Open and spacious with lots of natural light and 12-foot high ceilings. This is a charming getaway located in Old Town Mazatlan. There are many personal touches and furnishings you won't find in many rentals to help you feel comfortable and at home.
The home is finished with handmade Talavera wall and counter tiles in the kitchen and bath, and handmade Saltillo floor tiles throughout.
It is located in a quiet neighborhood. The neighbors are friendly and helpful, and the house is within walking distance of many of the most popular places of interest.
Start the day with your first cup of coffee in the interior courtyard, or on the front porch perched above the street overlooking the city. Or, pop over (just 5 blocks) to the new and fabulous Culinary Market which houses the European-style Molika Bakery and their coffee shop. Treat yourself to a pastry and specialty coffee.
Then, stroll over to the beach, only 5 blocks from the casa, for a walk along the Malecon and a dip in the ocean. When it's time for lunch, enjoy a reasonably-priced meal at one of the many palapa restaurants on the beach. After a sun-filled day, pick up dinner ingredients in the Pino Suarez market which is also 5 blocks from the casa. For evening entertainment, mosey down to the Plazuela Machado, an easy 10-block walk.
Don't want to cook dinner? In the evening, just 2 blocks away, enjoy the best baked potato you'll ever taste, served with seasoned pork grilled while you wait, at the popular and legendary Raymudo's street cart. Vegetarians can ask to have the potato served without the meat and will still have lots of flavor with the many sauces offered. The owners are very welcoming and you can sit at a table in the street and meet new friends.
On Saturdays, get to the organic food market early so you don't miss out on fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods and exotic flowers. The market is held at our neighborhood Zaragoza Park, only three blocks from the house. This is a busy park, with many organized activities during the year.
Need just a few groceries? Just a few steps from the casa is our corner store stocked with vegetables, fruits, meat, cheese, bread delivered fresh from the bakery every day, and household and personal items. If you don't see what you need, just ask. It might be in the back room, or they could have it for you the next day. The store owner speaks excellent English. In the words of a previous tenant, "this is the best corner tienda in town."
