Best place for a romantic getaway

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I own 4 businesses. Quiet getaways a couple times a year are an absolute MUST. After 23 years we've stayed at many "romantic" places and Charmed Cottage is, by far, the best. The hotub is perfectly positioned; the master bedroom is comfortable with the best linens; the kitchen is fully stocked with anything you need to prepare a meal in....though Asheville has many great restaurants. This was our 3rd stay and we will definitely be back again. We keep saying we're going to try one of the other cabins but the lure and charm keep up coming to Charmed Cottage. Thanks Brea

Owner's Response: Dear Teri & Tim - I am so grateful that you love the Charmed Cottage as much as I do. It brings a huge smile to my face to have my guests return over and over again. Enjoying the location of the over-sized hot tub overlooking the fabulous view just can't be beat. I may have mentioned that I get the giggles each and every time I slip into the bed at the cottage with the comfy pillow top mattress and the fabulous bed's the best. Thanks so much for noticing all those plus more! Now that we live in Asheville, I look forward to more attention to some finer details that I'm sure will bring a smile to your faces. I can't wait to hear from you again. Brea

Wonderful Views

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in this appealing cottage for four days. As you enter the beautiful front door, you see the master bedroom on the left and a large, lovely bath in front of you. The shower has a unique window made from a ship porthole. After climbing the stairs you arrive at the great room which has access to three decks. the first night we spent an hour on one of the decks that overlooked the mountains and watched storm clouds rolling in from the distance--it was quite a sight! From this deck you can see the path to the hot tub and deck which share the same view. We were there to attend a family reunion and were responsible for preparing dinner for 40 people that second night. The well-stocked kitchen had all the utensils and pans that were needed to prepare the meal. From another porch you can enjoy a view with the sound of running water coming down the mountain. My favorite bedroom is the upstairs alcove complete with bathroom and windows open to the sky. The large hot tub is positioned on a deck and has the most marvelous view of the mountains. This is a most unique cottage and offers a quiet hide-a-way with complete privacy.

Owner's Response: Hello Ann,
Thank you for your descriptive review. The small details our guests notice is still amazing to me. You mentioned the porthole window in the master bath—it’s unique & amazingly, it works. It is very nice to open when showering as it gives one a sense of being "one with nature". I think when we spoke the morning after your check-in, you said the cottage had a whimsical touch. I loved that comment! Of course, we assumed a few gourmet cooks would stay at this quaint cottage, so we made sure to buy all the necessary cooking tools and utensils one would need. Oh, and that view you mentioned - it's just unstoppable. I make sure to get up early enough each morning when I stay there to see the every changing views - it is quite something. And, YES, we do stay in our vacation homes to ensure they are perfect for our guests. We love to experience it all. The water falling sounds from the creek are gently noticeable throughout the property and it is so relaxing and meditative. I think I built the new deck for the hot tub shortly after your stay. We now have a multi-level deck with bistro tables for relaxing after a soak under the stars. It’s also a great place to have early morning breakfast if you so desire. (We even had a wedding on the new deck a month after we built it – how great is that.) Of course, the three decks attached to the house provide plenty of outdoor dining opportunities as you know. Thank you again for coming and I look forward to many more visits from you and your family. All my best, Brea

A secluded, charming mountain getaway!

  • 5 of 5
Staying at Charmed Cottage is truly charming! Such an eclectic mix of charm, comfort, casual elegance, old and new. There was so much room to spread out, including having several awesome decks to choose from. Everything was top quality... the bed linens were the most luxurious I've ever slept in. The kitchen was fully stocked with beautiful dishes and top quality pots and pans and utensils so we could cook some delicious meals. The cottage was so tastefully decorated and super clean.

The spacious outdoor hot tub topped off each evening with spectacular views overlooking the mountains.

Even though the Cottage was so secluded and private high atop the mountain, it was a short drive to get groceries or to drive into Asheville for sightseeing.

Brea was so sincere and thorough in everything... from detailed driving directions to a notebook filled with every logistical detail needed for a great stay. A lot of love went into creating this beautiful place! I've been back a couple of times and have recommended it as a great getaway to my friends!

Owner's Response: Hi Nancy - oh gosh - your kind words were touching. I'm so glad you loved staying at the cottage and noticed the details. There IS a lot of room to spread out, three decks attached to the house and then there's the hot tub deck on the grassy knoll with that great view. I think you may have missed the newly enlarged deck, now with bistro tables to relax after soaking in the hot tub. Perhaps on your next visit :-) I am so happy you noticed where the cottage got it's name. It is charming, eclectic and comfy. It is whimsical in a lot of little details. Thank you for your continued visits and know that I love having you as a guest. My Best - Brea

Solitude With A View

  • 5 of 5
An excellent place to hide out for a few days. What neighbors? A narrow dirt road brings you up the mountain to a truly charmed gem. The views are amazing and all the amenities are present. Sunset in the hot tub alone is worth the trip. We were lucky enough to have raspberries and black berries blooming along the driveway during our stay. A morning walk to pick the fresh, delicious treats to put on our French Toast was the icing on the cake. Downtown Asheville is not far if you want to take advantage of what it has to offer. Brea was very friendly and very easy to work with. I highly recommend experiencing a stay here.

Owner's Response: Yes - it is extremely private at Charmed Cottage. Thank you for your fabulous review. I love the view as well. I try to get up early enough when there to see the foggy mist that settles in the mountain valley and watch it rise over the next hour or so. It's like smoke rising - awesome experience - especially for a flat-lander city girl like me. So glad you found the berries - I've never been lucky enough to be there when they are ready. Sounds delicious on French toast...YUM. Hope to hear from you again and soon. Best regards, Brea

What an absolutely amazing experience for our family vacation! The view was breathtaking and the kids loved being able to explore the mountains. The house had EVERYTHING we needed; detergent, dish soap, disposables, towels, coffee, movies, and even some seasonings, just to name a few. There are FOUR patios! Each perfect for coffee, eating, or reading. Brea also welcomed us the next morning making sure we were well settled. She was so amazing to work with from beginning to end. Our family can't wait to rent our her other properties as well. We highly recommend this magical place for couples, families, or just anyone who wants to get away. Thank you so much Brea!! It was definitely an experience we will never forget!

Owner's Response: Dear Kim and Paul - it was my pleasure for you to be there with your family. It is, indeed a great place for kids to explore. With the stream and the forested mountain ridge, everyone can enjoy exploring the 11 acres. I hope you did get a chance to enjoy some fabulous mornings with the view when the natural fog is settled in the valley and then 15 minutes later it is rising. When I called for the welcome call, you indicated you loved the huge hot tub - to me it feels like a swimming pool and it's out there with the fabulous view. I look forward to your next check-in at one of our other properties or, of course, the Charmed Cottage again. Thank you once again for giving us the opportunity to host you and your family. Brea

What an amazing home away from home!

  • 5 of 5
When my boyfriend was asked what I wanted for my birthday I said, I want nothing more than to have a relaxing getaway weekend. This is where he took me! It was the most perfect weekend I could have ever asked for. This house/cottage made the entire weekend. Hands down one of the most inviting, charming, and cozy homes to stay in! The over all ambiance was incredible.
Reasons I will recommend this house to many and continue to come back:
1. Privacy (acres of land, away from other houses)
2. 8 person hottub with a breathtaking view
3. Not a far drive to get to the store or nearby towns (we went to chimney rock)
4. I didn't even want to leave the house to go anway (it was that great)
5. Peaceful
6. The option to grill, use crockpot, outdoor chiminea
7. option of 4 decks (gives you space if you come with other people)
8. It doesn't even matter if it rains :)
9. Very clean & spacious
10. home decor and location provides a serene and tranquil ambience
11. we will be back for sure!

Owner's Response: Jennifer and Mitch, Thank you for such an outstanding review of the cottage. I feel the same as you when I stay there. I never want to leave. I go there with intentions to do a lot and before I know it, it is two or three in the afternoon and I'm still relaxing. I think it must take several days to unwind from city life when you get to the cottage. We get so bound up with our busy lives. Thank goodness for a peaceful place to just "be". The peace does surround you in the mountains. The breath of fresh air, nature at its best and the altitude gives you every opportunity to relax. I look forward to your next visit and hopefully you can stay longer than two nights! My best, Brea
