Fall Color Weekend

  • 5 of 5
This was our first time staying at Little Bear Hideaway, and we pleasently surprised. The location was great for enjoying fall colors, and the beautiful cabin was conviently located to many trails for walking the woods. Only a short drive to Gaylord.
The cabin itself is fully stocked with all the necessities need for a short or long term stay, and everything needed for a comfortable trip. A very clean and roomy place. We will diffenetly rent again. Thank you for a perfect weekend!

Owner's Response: These guests are 100% correct and this house is set up strictly for vacationers as home has more amenities than most people's home they live in! This is what I hear all the time. Owners pay attention to detail and are constantly updating home to make it more comfortable and this home is one of the most popular rentals in Gaylord, no doubt. This is one of 7 homes with
outdoor hot tubs centrally located in with other rentals and everyone
always comes back to my listing....most wait too long though looking at others and miss their opportunity because they wait too long....early bird gets the worm!!!! Keep that in mind when
trying to find your most ideal rental but this home books up quick....especially summertime...
walking distance to pool, pontoon rental available for cruising the all sports lake across the road and golf cart rental for cruising around the neighborhood for more adventures....visit the many
parks around the lake and peninsula! Many adventures await you!

Clean, very nice cottage, all the ammenities

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in Little Bear this August.

The lake:
Nice no wake lake. Kids enjoyed use of the paddle boat daily and routinely saw small turtles and fish. This side of the lake contains less lake growth on the bottom. Shallow lake.

The house:
Stocked with everything you need (pots, pans, vacum, ...). Plenty of towels to shower with. The furnishings are nicely done and the furniture is not broken down or old looking which is common with many rentals. The bathrooms are brand new. Nicely tiled and nothing generic about them. Very clean.

There is 2 floor fans and a ceiling fan in the upstairs bedroom. The sun comes in the Western facing windows so it can get warm in the LR. Might bring a small turbo fan (we did) for a BR or just use one of the floor fans if you get 80 degree days. Nights are cool so the house is quite comfy.

Other features:
The association property (pool w/restrooms, picnic pavillion, beach, and playground, including basketball court) is 40 sec away by car at 10mph.

There is ORV trails readily accessible about 100' from the cottage in multiple directions. If you ATV or Snowmobile, this place accomodates in spades.

There is a house right next door, 20', but on the other side, he's over there 100' or so and was not there when we stayed. Not a lot of houses on the lake so, you kinda have the lake to yourself.

It is a straight shot on the main road out of the association from the cottage. Then left (to head toward Gaylord) or right (toward Waters and Grayling).

Dorene is quite accessible via phone, text, or email, promptly responding.

Had a wonderful, relaxing week with my family. Place was lovely, very clean and came with all that you will need (*except a kettle). If swimming in the lake isn't for you, the heated outdoor pool is a very short walk away. About a 10 minute drive to "downtown" Gaylord. Really enjoyed it

3 day snowmobile trip was the best ever. This cottage is so nice and so affordable. Dorene from the leasing agency is so easy to do business with. Plenty of room for cars and snowmobile trailers. The amenities were superb. Hot Tub and Ping pong table got plenty of use. Snowmobile trails are about 2 miles from the cottage and easy to ride to on the snow covered roads. We will come back next year for sure.

Owner's Response: These guests were right! Everyone loves this home and owners are constantly updating and making home more comfortable. We are right in the middle of
Vacationland, whether for winter sports or summer sports. Gaylord has it all.
For winter, Gaylord gets the most snow in lower northern Michigan since we are
the highest elevation. We get the most snow, hands down! Also we are close
to ski hills for the skiers and snowboarders, just think how nice the hot tub
will feel after a day on the trail or don't have to share the hot tub with total strangers if you were to book a hotel. How nice is that! Come stay and play in Gaylord's Vacationland!

Ski Weekend

  • 5 of 5
We had a group of 8 stay for a ski weekend and had a fantastic time. The cabin was very clean and well maintained, plus the location was perfect for skiing at Shanty Creek, Tree Tops or Boyne. In the evening we enjoyed sledding out onto the frozen lake in the back, and had a nice bonfire (courtesy of the stocked wood pile that was available!) Overall it was great and we can't wait to come back next year!

Owner's Response: Location....Location.....Location is where this Chalet is located. Close to just about anything and everything to do in winter, fall spring and summer.
Winter time, there are ski hills nearby and snowmobile trails nearby, also
cross country skiing. Summertime, there are multiple golf courses (Golf Mecca)
lots of day trips, Mackinac, Traverse City, Petoskey, endless day trips.
Two lakes to enjoy at the home as well as an outdoor heated pool just down
the road, walking distance.
Everyone loves Little Bear Hideaway and owners take pride in making sure their home has all the necessities and amenities to make your stay enjoyable and memorable. This chalet gets repeat guests all the time requesting this home.

We love Little Bear, great family escape!

  • 5 of 5
Our family thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this HOME when we rented it this summer! I call it a home because it had all the comforts of home. It is in perfect condition and has large rooms/space, the great room on the main floor helps keep the family together with just enough space for freedom, an awesome basement fun area for the kids and adults, a great view from the huge porch, has a great sandy beach with seating...swing...beach chairs...canoe...kayaks......I could go on for days!

The rental manager too is so great. She is very kind and helpful. I made a call to her with a question and she drove on over to help me out!

Our father-in-law came too and he is wheelchair bound with limited walking with a walker and it was very handicap accessible. The bathroom on the main floor is a walk-in shower so his shower chair fit. The only thing you need is a portable ramp to get in and out because there are 3 steps to the front door. We were able to do it but the ramp would be easier. So it is also a great getaway for a member of the family who may have a disability.

We also liked the lake size for kids...big enough to explore but small enough to not have to worry (with life jackets)! We all ready are trying to reserve for our next family reunion in 2 years!
