The Casita Buena Vista certainly met all of our expectations and more. Pictures do not do justice to the wonderful beachfront location and the perfect ocean breeze that accompanies it. The location is near enough to San Pedro to be able to take advantage of restaurants, shopping and recreation, but far enough to partake only in R&R if that is your desire. Wolfgang is a wonderful host providing every possible assistance, if needed. I would rate this an A+ and recommend it to anyone interested in a non-resort experience.

The best casa on the island!

  • 5 of 5
First and foremost I want to say thank you to our host, Wolfgang and his grounds keeper Aiden. Wolfgang was easy and quick to correspond with upon booking and before our arrival. He answered all of our questions and was so helpful especially with suggesting places for excursions. He also had transportation waiting for us at the airport so we didn't have to worry about a thing! Once we arrived he already had goodies for us in the fridge and made suggestions for great restaurants, local spots to check out, and even took us on a short tour through town so we knew what to look for. The casita itself had everything we could ever need/want- full kitchen, AC, comfy furnishings, and much more. It was clean and spacious for me and my husband. We loved the shower too! The high windows let in the natural light and had beautiful views of the palms trees and foliage. Adien the grounds keeper worked so hard to make sure we had a nice and pristine beach everyday and even scooped out the seaweed from the water for us!

As far as the island, it is very laid back and full of wonderful people. Everyone was friendly and it had a small town feel. Maria's fruit and veggie stand was the best place for inexpensive fresh fruit, veggies, and juices! The restaurants were great, but the local spots were much cheaper. Snorkeling at Hol Chan reserve and Shark Ray Alley is a must! Driving the golf carts were fun and an adventure in itself. It was the best way to get around the island.

San Pedro will definitely be an annual spot for us! And we will be looking to stay at Casita Buena Vista for sure! You can't beat the location, the hospitality, and of course the wonderful amenities! Thanks, Wolfgang for making our short stay so amazing. I wish we had more time to explore... We look forward to next time :)

What a great place to stay in Belize!

  • 5 of 5
We loved San Pedro and we loved staying at the Casita Buena Vista. The owner/host/friend Wolfgang makes sure all his guests are comfortable, and then he takes you for a tour of the town. He introduced us to a variety of merchants so we knew where to go for what. We really enjoyed our visits with the people working with Wolfgang to make our stay comfortable and fun. Eldon and Marita were great! Our advice to rent a golf cart right away so you can tour the island at will. We got ours from Polo, who is also a friend of Wolfgangs. Heading to Ambergries Caye? You can't go wrong staying with Wolfgang.

Nice place with a few of setbacks

  • 4 of 5
Location, locals and owner are great! He has 2 wonderful dogs - Cookie and Tiger. Cookie swam with us! We stayed in both properties. While there is sea grass in the swimming area ( one foot to approx. 7 feet deep) which takes a little getting used to, the water is a very fun place to be. Snorkeling on the property is a perfect for beginners to novices. The casita (1bd/1ba) was terrific (great a/c) - no problems with it. The house 1st floor (upgrade) has an extra bd/ba and beautiful view. The front screen door has a 2" gap which MAY be big enough to let flies/mosquitoes in the place (it may be more psychological than anything). This is an issue because there is no a/c in the living room/kitchen area of the house and you need to airflow to keep the place cool. BEWARE, he advertises a 2 man kayak on VRBO, THERE IS NO KAYAK! This was a huge disappointment bc it would be great for snorkeling in other areas and they are $$$ to rent. If you plan on using a kayak and it is still advertised on the website, I would iron out the details with him before you go. For us,his employee, Eldon, was not too helpful. First day I arrived, he asked me what I needed. I told him I wanted coconuts each morning and a place to buy fresh (not frozen) seafood. After 3 days with no coconuts, I asked him again and I got some coconuts. Again I told him I would like coconuts EVERDAY, and he failed to deliver. When we asked him about fresh seafood, he gave excuses as to the guy could not make it. Oddly enough, the last night of the vacation, I saw a guy, "Fish" Johnson, on his bike selling fresh seafood (fish fillets, shrimp and lobster - all fairly priced), which I bought, cooked and ate - delicious. During our discussion, Fish stated he knew where we were staying (knew Eldon and the owner by name). In the past, he had delivered seafood & cooked bbq there. He had never received a call asking for fresh seafood during our stay. For tourist stuff, you MUST see HO CHAN and Shark/Ray alley. I chartered a boat ($250/day) with Clive, Captain of the Pisces. He can be contacted at the Day Spa on the pier. For the day, Clive took us fishing (caught 9 fish), cleaned, cooked and fed us (lobster & fish & sodas/H2O) and he was our swim guide for HO CHAN & Shark Ray Alley. He grabbed sharks and manta rays for us to touch and pet. Clive's boat was awesome and $100 cheaper than other tour companies.

Beautiful!

We loved our stay at Casita Beuna Vista. The guesthouse was lovely, well-appointed and spotless. The greatroom was large and cool, with many fans, and the bed was very comfortable.
Wolfgang was a gracious host, and we enjoyed our tour of San Pedro.
We also enjoyed our walks along the beach and exploring the island in the golf cart (recommended). We booked two tours with the help of Eldon, the groundskeeper, and had a great time snorkeling and visiting Mayan ruins on the mainland. We would love to return someday.

Perfect Honeymoon!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I were married in September, but did not honeymoon until March, which gave us many cold winter months to look forward to this trip. Everything about our trip far exceeded our expectations (which were fairly high already based upon the other info we read beforehand). Of all the locations we were able to check out on Ambergris Caye, we couldn't imagine a better place to stay. We loved being slightly out of town, but very close to everything. Definitely rent a golf cart, we loved riding around, and my husband loved driving it. Each morning, we made coffee in the casita (which we drank with delicious rum crème that Wolfgang hooked us up with during our tour!), and snorkeled for several hours. We would then venture downtown for lunch, before more water activities in the afternoon. We did several tours through Suya next door, and thought they were exceptionally well-arranged, and worth what we paid. We went to Lamanaii, and took a catamaran to snorkel at Hol Chan and Shark Ray. We liked Hol Chan much more than Shark Ray, and almost went back a different day. We did not have a bad meal anywhere--we tried many of the places Wolfgang recommended, and also stopped in a few we found on our own. The mojitos everywhere were amazing as well. Get ceviche everywhere---best I've ever had!! In addition to all of this, we could not have asked for better hosts. Wolfgang, Eldon, and Mirta were available to help with virtually anything at any time (even helping us to arrange our tours, and make sure the boats were coming to pick us up on time), but also had a knack for seeming to disappear when we desired a quiet nap or drink under the coconut tree. What a great balance! I unfortunately lost my luggage for several days, and Wolfgang went above and beyond to help us try to track it down, giving up his time (long wait times on the phone!) and allowing us to use his phone to check for updates..so gracious. The casita is also beautiful inside--not that we spent a lot of time inside! We cannot wait to return, and, in fact, have rebooked already, and are bringing family to enjoy this paradise with us next year.
