Ample and convenient place to stay

  • 4 of 5
I stayed with 9 friends for about a week. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the house is actually bigger than what I thought reading the add, accomodating ten persons with a lot of room left.

The whole place is clean, functionnal (the kitchen is perfect) and the living room is quite pleasant. Not a single bad surprise, and I am under the impression that the cost is very cheap given the quality.

My only concerns would be that one the room tended to be a little cold at night, requiring extra blankets. Also - but this is extrememy minor - the fire alarm is super sensitive, so leave the windows open when cooking for ten.

The neighbourhood is fine, you will need a ride to go shopping but it is safe enough (I went for some runs in the area and did not feel threatened at any point) and as quiet as it gets.

Should I do another trip to D.C, I would certainly come here again.

Definitely Recommended!

My stay at this residence was perfect. I came to town with a group of girlfriends so we could attend a local festival. We searched online for a place that would be economical for the group and conveniently located. We found this place and booked online. The woman I corresponded with was very pleasant. When I spoke to her on the phone, she was a delight to talk to as she patiently provided me with all the information and answers to all my questions, while easing my concerns.
The neighborhood is in an up and coming gentrification neighborhood. As those who have visited the Nation’s Capital City know, it is ever changing and growing! The block is quaint and relatively quiet. The residents are a mixture of both old and young. Some appear to have lived in the area for decades while others may be new to the neighborhood. The house is conveniently located about a ½ mile walk to the Stadium Armory Metrorail station and there’s a newly opened trolley that I saw running constantly at the end of the block. In addition there are several bus lines that run nearby as well.
Because my friends and I all live in different cities, our arrivals were staggered and in multiple vehicles. Parking in the DC area can be very troublesome and expensive. Fortunately, there was ample street parking as well as a driveway on the side of the house and one in the back that was secured with a garage door. We were all delighted to know that the house was very spacious and easily accommodated our group of 8 women. On the 1st floor was a fully furnished living and dining area, a powder room and a fully equipped kitchen with all the comforts of home. On the 2nd floor are 3 bedrooms and a sky-lit bathroom. In the finished basement, was another living area and a bedroom. That’s 4 bedrooms total! With proper shower scheduling, we all managed to get dressed and not feel crowded or rushed while doing so. Now that is a MAJOR feat for 8 women! The house was nicely decorated, clean, and comfortable. There was cable TV and Wifi access, as well as upstairs and downstairs zoned heating and cooling. In addition, we were able to save money because we went to a nearby supermarket and purchased groceries and snacks. We prepared our breakfasts at the house and had food to snack on after returning late evening or after a night out on the town. Our stay at this residence was very comfortable and allowed us to gather as a group, laughing, talking and catching up over wine and frozen cocktails.

Good value property

We stayed here for new year, after reading a previous review we were slightly nervous about the property, we even rang and spoke to the owner who reassured us. The property is typical usa home and suburb. The property met all of our needs a party of 7, upstairs there are 3 good size bedrooms with a further bedroom leading to another., there is a basement room with another bedroom and shower etc. We found the property clean and fit for purpose. The metro station is a 15-20 minute walk away, which is good if weather is fine, everyone we met on our visit from metro staff to general public were very friendly and helpful. We had an excellent visit to Washington DC. As visitors from overseas we would suggest that the owner consider some sort of welcome pack with tea bags, coffee, milk, bread and butter. Only because when you arrive late as we did you are not equipped to go looking for these items. Overall a very good visit and the booking process was prompt, with everything promised fulfilled. Simply satisfied

Finding an affordable place for a large group during our DC vacation was mission impossible until we came across this property. Prior to our trip my husband Google map the area and we saw that it was located in what I'd classify as a Working Class neighborhood. So I'll be honest to say I did have a small amount of concern. But to my surprise the home has been renovated wonderfully, it's clear to see the owners really invested in this property. The metro rail was a tad bit of a distance but it wasn't too far away especially when you take in to consideration sight seeing in DC requires a lot of walking. The residential neighborhood came to our advantage when we found the local supermarket which allowed us to stock up on groceries so we could take advantage of the beautiful kitchen and the barbecue grill. I did have to do a little housekeeping before the rest of the guests arrived which required airing the place out because it smelt as if the home had been unused for a long period of time but once the air conditioner got to circulating it was all good. Definitely a great place to stay especially if you're traveling with a larger size group.

Let me begin by saying that I wish I would have done a little more research on the area prior to agreeing to rent this house. Although, the owner was nice enough to allow an early check in there were many flaws.
We arrived on a Friday and around 4pm decided to head to the zoo for the zoolights event. We decided to take the "conveniently located metro". It turns out that after a short walk through the ghetto to the BUS stop, we could get off the bus in Chinatown and hop on the metro train. We met a very nice man when we arrived at the bus stop who gave us directions and then proceeded to follow us likely planning a mugging (keep in mind we have 3 children with us and a pregnant woman). We might as well have had "TARGET" or "out of towners" written on our forehead. Needless to say we sought assistance took a very expensive cab home.
Saturday we went about our day doing Christmas activities and site seeing. We had a nice dinner at the house and everyone went to bed. I was awake in bed until 12:30 due to all the loud yelling and commotion outside my window as if it was 90 degrees outside and we were all at the club. I cannot imagine what this neighborhood is like in the summer time. Around 3am I was awakened to the sound of gun shots outside my window, yes GUNSHOTS! The entire night was glittered with sirens near and far. Everyone in the house was terrified, one of which suffers from anxiety and was having a panic attack in the middle of the night. My children were a nervous wreck and crying. This area is dangerous!
I will admit that the inside of this house does not match the outside neighborhood. It is a very nice dwelling at a decent price for the size, but it is not worth my life or that or my children. I would not suggest renting this house unless you do some research in regards to the surrounding area, plan to remain in doors at night, away from windows and doors for fear of being shot or if you are a hardened criminal carrying a large caliber hand gun.
Thanks for letting us stay, but we won't be back. I, also, find it very inconsiderate that you have likely deleted any negative reviews outlining the problems with the neighborhood. It is a real disservice to the unsuspecting suburban families renting your home.

Owner's Response: Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the DC property. I am extremely disappointed that you had such a frightening experience during your stay. I can assure you that we have never had a reported incident of violence against a guest or at the property during our 5 year rental period. As a responsible owner, I have never deleted a review of a guest experience (including your post). The reviews on the site are based on real guest experience. Washington DC is urban, vibrant, densely populated metropolitan area. We encourage you to please contact the property manager to discuss this incident further.

Great Place to Stay in DC

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed our stay very much! We were in DC for our youngest daughter's wedding, so we were in and out of the house constantly coming and going. We were a large family group, and there was room for all of us. One or another of us was in the house at almost every hour of our stay, and we found it thoroughly enjoyable.
It's location on a corner was terrific, as access was extremely easy, with commodious parking off street available, and the windows the location allowed for! We loved that the house could brim with natural light, as we gathered around the large dining room table to eat or simply sit and visit, and we could sit in the sun room where the table was a perfect size for a small project or to enjoy a board game together.
We had 2 small grandchildren with us, and we were happy to find a high chair and pack and play available for use. All the appliances were in great working order, easy to use, and I think we used all of them, even the washing machine and dryer. The beds were excellent! Pillows and towels, too. A thoroughly comfortable stay was had by all.
Even though we had rented cars, some of us used the metro stop nearby, finding it easy to utilize to go sightseeing.
We chose the house due to it's proximity to our daughter's apartment, to find that it met or exceeded all our expectations for location and comfort. We hope to be able to stay there again in the future.
