Wir waren im Mai für 12 Tage auf Sanibel Island. Meine Frau und ich wurden begleitet von Sohn, Schwiegertochter und dem 1 1/2-jährigen Enkel. Die Insel selbst kennen wir schon seit ca. 10 Jahren und haben sie in unregelmäßigen Abständen immer wieder besucht. Die Insel begeistert uns immer wieder aufs Neue. Keine Bettenburgen, herrliche Strände zum Muscheln sammeln, nette Lokale und eine sehr gute italienische Eisdiele in der Nähe des Leuchtturms.

Wir waren zum zweiten Mal im Sandalfoot Condominium und zum ersten Mal in der Wohnung 1D3. Sie befindet sich im 3. Stock mit tollem Blick auf den Golf von Mexiko. Vom Balkon aus konnten wir öfters vorbei schwimmende Delphine sehen. Die Wohnung ist sehr hell und mit farbenfrohen Möbeln ausgestattet. Die saubere Wohnung ist sehr geräumig (auch für 4 Erwachsene und 1 Kleinkind). Die Küche bietet alles, um einmal ein Essen in der Wohnung zu kochen. Weiterhin ist die Wohnung mit Allem ausgestattet was man für den Strand braucht.

Im 1. Stock des Gebäudes befindet sich ein Raum mit Waschmaschine und Trockner. Die Benutzung hat kein Geld gekostet.

Die Anlage selbst ist wohl in den 70er gebaut worden. Befindet sich aber in einem sehr guten Zustand und die Außenanlage wird toll gepflegt. In der Anlage befinden sich mehrere Weber-Grills, die den Gästen zur Verfügung stehen. Wir haben sie gerne öfters benutzt. Der Stand liegt nicht weit entfernt und ist über einern direkten Zugang erreichbar.

Das Personal war sehr nett. Hilfe haben wir aber nicht benötigt.

Ein Kinderbett haben wir über Internet selbst hinzugebucht. Das hat völlig problemlos geklappt und war schon aufgebaut, als wir in der Anlage ankamen.

Wir haben uns in der Anlage und speziell der Wohung 1D3 sehr wohl gefühlt und wir sind sicher, dass wir wieder kommen.

Great time in 1D3 with cozy and comfortable interior design! Plenty of space for 4 of us, beautiful panoramic view of ocean, shelling was the best that we have experienced in 3 previous trips to Sanibel. Access to beach right outside stairwell, with hundreds of shells at our feet. Walked every day to light house, by far one of the best condos we have stayed in with beach front view!

Our family has stayed in this condo at Sandalfoot for the past 2 years and it meets our needs perfectly. We play tennis each morning followed by the beach and pool. The condo is very comfortable and well equipped. It is close to everything that we need. The seafood was delicious - caught by our sons! Carol, the owner, is very accommodating and so was the staff at Sandalwood. This summer, on our second day in Sanibel, dolphins were swimming within five feet of us! Something our boys will never forget! We will be back!

We have enjoyed staying in this condo at Sandalfoot for the past two years. We played tennis as a family every morning, followed by relaxation at both the beach and the pool. We had great seafood, some of which was caught by our sons! This condo is so comfortable and close to everything that we need for a great vacation. Thanks Carol for sharing your wonderful beach home!

Celebrating 60

Our entire family came down from Ohio to celebrate my 60th birthday. My wife and I have been coming to Sandalfoot since 1978 and have stayed in 1D3 the last two visits. We have rented several condos over the years and feel 1D3 has the most beautiful view at Sandalfoot. Depending on the time of year you can wake up and experience the sunrise from the front bedroom without getting out of bed. Our younger daughter got engaged while we were here and is contemplating getting married or honeymooning here. The weather was awesome with only one day of rain. We all parasailed and spotted a shark, sea turtle and dolphin. I would highly recommend YOLO for parasailing. The captain and his mate were informative, entertaining and they enjoyed taking several great picturs of all uf us. The condo is well equipped with all the amenities and tastefully decorated. Our bed was extremely comfortable and I don't think anyone had problems sleeping. Thanks for your hospitality Carol and look forward to returning soon.

Arrived Friday with nonworking ice maker and clogged guest bathroom shower drain. Since it was the weekend, the owner was not willing to pay the premium to call for repairs necessary and they were both repaired by mid day Monday. I thought, maybe, we should have had been offered to move to another condo, but, no mention.

Overall, the experience was positive. The view was spectacular, and, beach was close to our door. The grounds and pool were very well maintained, and, things were, fairly, clean. We found hair and dried shampoo on the master shower walls, and, clumps of hair on the guest bedroom floor. There were areas that were marked on walls and doors, and, the wood trim well worn. The carpet in the living area was in need of cleaning.

There was plenty of entertainment for, both, young and old...even my kids at the age of 20. We loved the bike rentals, all kinds of restaurants, shopping, relaxing, felt safe on our jogs, shelling, house hunting, and, site seeing.

Everyone on staff was, extremely, helpful. Our flight out of Ft. Meyers didn't leave until 4 pm on the day of check out, and, they were, very, gracious to allow us to stay if the cleaners didn't need to get in there right away.

For the price, I thought, the grade of bathroom tissues were less than expected. I was, a bit, surprised that there was a well stocked kitchen, but no, basic, provisions; such as, spices, oils, basic cooking items.

We would return in a heartbeat, and, feel like it was really, home.

Owner's Response: I want to personally thank my guests for taking the time to comment and for being proactive by contacting the front office. Not many owners live at Sandalfoot and owners rely on the on-site management to ensure everything is turned on, working properly, and clean. Sandalfoot takes pride on customer service and has a maintenance person and professional cleaning staff; yet with this guest something obviously failed and it appears miscommunication is much to blame.

Although I have a supplemental service contract, the contract does not provide emergency after-hours or weekend service on ice makers nor does it cover slow drains. The maintenance work was completed Monday and Alert AC reported to the Sandalfoot office their finding that nothing was amiss with the ice maker, other than being turned off. That makes it a puzzle but the good news is that the ice maker continues working.

There appears to have been some miscommunication as to the extent of the drain problem. It was presented to me that there was a slow shower drain, not clogged. I would have reacted instantly if the office had passed on the report as a stoppage. I apologize that a guest was let down and our staff is now more aware of their need to fully investigate complaints.

This guest review was shared with our Sandalfoot Management. I have owned at Sandalfoot 15 years and this is my first experience receiving a “mixed” review. What a wonderful vacation. The beach was amazing, clean and goes for miles. I took my 3 year old and felt so safe. The pool was great. The people in the complex were friendly and nice. The staff were helpful and efficient. We rented bikes, swam in the ocean, ate in wonderful restraunts. The condo was well decorated, clean and comfortable. I will definetly go back!

Located just minutes from the Causeway on the East End near the historic Sanibel lighthouse and fishing pier, 1D3 is 'AAA' approved and top rated. The East end is primarily comprised of upscale homes and condos and is convenient to all the island has to offer - close to golf courses, dining, shopping, Sanibel Marina and J.N. 'Ding' Darling National Wildlife Refuge. Nothing better than low-tide shelling on the beach out front or a morning stroll to the nearby fishing pier!
