Cabin, 1 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 4 Sleeps

Falls Branch Chalet is nestled in a small cove with a private waterfall that cascades down the granite ravine behind the home. The Falls Branch then flows alongside the back yard and by the house. The sound of water flowing can be heard year round. We have a unique setting that offers privacy yet convenience to a number of attractions within a ten to thirty minute drive from the house. This is an original logging cabin from the 1920's and was also featured on the cover of Mountain Living magazine in the 1980's because of it's unique setting. There is a variety of Heirloom and native flowers blooming for most of the year and their are blueberry bushes growing along Falls Branch. A stone path leads you around the home to the granite boulders lining the ravine behind the house that glow at night from the phosphorescent lichen. The whole setting has good energy and it is truely a magical place. Like many of our guests once you have visited Falls Branch Chalet you will surely want to return. We also have lots of wonderful comments left by our guests listed on our website. Let us send you a link to it.

Owner's Response: We have a couple of Blueberry bushes that grow along Falls Branch which is just a few feet from the backdoor of the chalet. This guest stayed while the blueberry's were in season and we are happy to share them. The cobbler was delicious and how thoughtful for this guest to leave it for us. Thank You!

Cozy & Quaint

We enjoyed our short, but much needed get-a-way. The sound of the waterfall was awesome. Picked blue berries and made blue berry pancakes. The cabin is close to the Chimney Rock State Park, which we enjoyed very much. Picked apples at Coston Farms, had homemade apple cider slushies (such a wonderful treat). Sight seeing throught out Chimney Rock and Ashville. Took our dog, Toby, to the river walk. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable time. Thank you, Sheila, for sharing your chalet with us!

Awesome base camp

  • 5 of 5
We spent a week at the cabin and had a wonderful time. It was small enough to be cozy but not feel cramped. It was a perfect base camp as it seemed to be less than 20 minutes from everywhere you'd like to go. We had great day trips to Asheville, Chimney Rock, Hendersonville and Lake Lure. It sits right off the road but noise was never an issue. The owner was very attentive and helpful. I'm sure we'll be going back again.

loved it!

  • 5 of 5
My family loved our stay at the cottage! For our small family it was the perfect size. We loved the waterfall in the back that my daughter had so much fun playing in and the hiking trail that was right next to the property was also really great! The house was well furnished. I especially like the cute kitchen! It was perfect for our family and we loved how close it was to so many fun things! It was only 15 to Chimney Rock so we went there a few times and we ate the village there several times and also enjoyed Lake Lure. Asheville was pretty close too, so we went there a few times as well. There is an entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway very close by as well that we took advantage of.

Straight out of a Fairy Tale..Loved it!

  • 5 of 5
We loved our three nights here. We spent most of the time reading and sunning at the base of the waterfall in the backyard. The nature preserve trailhead is 50 yards away with miles of great trails and little waterfalls. We'll be back soon.

Thanks Sheila,
Chris and Linda.

Best Weeks Vacation

  • 5 of 5
Absolutely loved this cabin. Quaint, comfortable, and so relaxing. Waking up to the sound of the waterfall in the backyard was the best. I enjoyed my coffee every morning on the back porch listening to the waterfall, couldn't be any better. The cabin was so convenient to so many beautiful trails for hiking. In fact one great trail is literally out the front door and 20 steps to the left. The trip into Asheville or Black Mountain is very easy and only takes about 20 minutes. In fact the drive to the city is so beautiful you will be glad you have the commute. The Hickory Nut Farm Store is only a few miles away and you can indulge in grass fed beef, locally made sausage (the brats were fantastic), and much more. Also just down the road is a farm stand where fresh greens, strawberries, and flowers are ready for purchase by the honor system. I can't tell you how much you will enjoy this cabin. I strongly recommend it. I know I will be back as soon as I can get more time off from work. Thank you Sheila for a wonderful vacation and for having such a clean, relaxing cabin.

Location

Activity and Interests

The local activities within a ten minute drive include The Chimney Rock Park and Village. Chimney Rock provides long range views, pic-nic areas, hiking, gift shop and an elevator within the mountain for those who want to go up to Chimney Rock without having to walk very far. The views expand out as far as 60 miles and below is Lake Lure. Here is a mountain beach on the lake and a small waterpark. You can also rent padel boats or a canoo. All along the Hickory Nut River leading to the Lake are shops and restaurants and all this is a short drive from the home. Drive back toward Asheville and you will find the Famous Biltmore House and Winery, the Blue Ridge Parkway for long scenic drives and of course Asheville. Most all areas are dog friendly with the exception of the Biltmore House itself. We have maps, brochures and local publications provided in the home for your convenience and to familiarize yourself with the area.

  • Their is a two night minimum with the exception of holidays and then it is a three night minimum. For holiday rentals there will not be any turn over dates allowed during these days. Check out will need to fall on the following day after a holiday. I also offer military and senior citizen discounts for our guests who qualify. We are flexible about Sat. to Sat. or Sun. to Sun. for the weekly rentals but Holidays are an exception. The holidays are Jan 1st, Easter, Memorial Day, Labor Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving and then Christmas. Please send me an e-mail or call if I can explain this in more detail.
The cleaning fee is a reasonable $65.00 and can be reduced if you bring your own bed and bath linens to $50.00. This covers cleaning the house, washing the laundry (unless you bring your own), carry away the garbage. If the futon is used an extra $10. linen fee is required to cover the extra wash load.
The house is pet friendly and the pet fee is $10. per pet per day. However I discourage guests bringing pets that are less than one year old. I do not allow pets to be left alone in the home and a crate is available should guests need one. I also have a nice fluffy pet bed and mat to set their food and water on. If your pets are accustomed to sleeping on the furniture or bed then just please bring another bedspread and something else to cover our furniture to protect it from dog hair, chew bones, etc... If I need to do excessive cleaning then the deposit will not be returned. Sorry about having to mention this but it is necessary for our guests with pets to realize the pet fee is for the priviledge to bring your pet with you and is less than a kennel.
I also require a security deposit of $75.00 for a weekend for guests without pets and it is $100. for guests with pets for a two to three day weekend. The deposit doubles for a week stay. To rent this rental property the reserving guests must be 21 or older.
