Cabin, 1 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 4 Sleeps

Falls Branch Chalet is nestled in a small cove with a private waterfall that cascades down the granite ravine behind the home. The Falls Branch then flows alongside the back yard and by the house. The sound of water flowing can be heard year round. We have a unique setting that offers privacy yet convenience to a number of attractions within a ten to thirty minute drive from the house. This is an original logging cabin from the 1920's and was also featured on the cover of Mountain Living magazine in the 1980's because of it's unique setting. There is a variety of Heirloom and native flowers blooming for most of the year and their are blueberry bushes growing along Falls Branch. A stone path leads you around the home to the granite boulders lining the ravine behind the house that glow at night from the phosphorescent lichen. The whole setting has good energy and it is truely a magical place. Like many of our guests once you have visited Falls Branch Chalet you will surely want to return. We also have lots of wonderful comments left by our guests listed on our website. Let us send you a link to it.

Owner's Response: We have a couple of Blueberry bushes that grow along Falls Branch which is just a few feet from the backdoor of the chalet. This guest stayed while the blueberry's were in season and we are happy to share them. The cobbler was delicious and how thoughtful for this guest to leave it for us. Thank You!

Lovely, immaculate cabin

  • 5 of 5
You could not ask for a more lovely, well maintained and well equipped cabin. The kitchen and bathroom were abundantly supplied with staples, such as extra toilet paper, paper towels, coffee filters, spices etc. There were extras of just about everything. The towels were fresh and clean as were the sheets. My husband would have liked an additional comfy chair in the living room so we could sit closer to the main television, but there were many comfortable deck chairs on both the front and back decks we brought one in during our stay. Of course the waterfall is the primary attraction and we joined all the former guests in spending as much time as possible outside.
We also had the opportunity to meet Sheila, the owner, when she came by to mow the lawn. We really enjoyed the face to face after our numerous
emails etc. We found her to be delightful and most pleasant.
Unfortunately I was still recovering from a knee injury so hiking was out. If anyone does have any issues with mobility this lovely place may be a bit daunting....the steps are steep and numerous, even though well lit and with a railing. My only other suggestions would be to consider providing a telephone, since we were surprised to find that we had no cell coverage (AT&T) so no way to call for help in any kind of emergency (which fortunately we did not need). Last of all as someone who lives in coastal Maine, I found the hairpin turns in this area of NC a bit daunting. The cabin was so pleasant that we ended up spending the bulk of our time enjoying it.

We enjoyed our short, but much needed get-a-way. The sound of the waterfall was awesome. Picked blue berries and made blue berry pancakes. The cabin is close to the Chimney Rock State Park, which we enjoyed very much. Picked apples at Coston Farms, had homemade apple cider slushies (such a wonderful treat). Sight seeing throught out Chimney Rock and Ashville. Took our dog, Toby, to the river walk. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable time. Thank you, Sheila, for sharing your chalet with us!

Awesome base camp

  • 5 of 5
We spent a week at the cabin and had a wonderful time. It was small enough to be cozy but not feel cramped. It was a perfect base camp as it seemed to be less than 20 minutes from everywhere you'd like to go. We had great day trips to Asheville, Chimney Rock, Hendersonville and Lake Lure. It sits right off the road but noise was never an issue. The owner was very attentive and helpful. I'm sure we'll be going back again.

loved it!

  • 5 of 5
My family loved our stay at the cottage! For our small family it was the perfect size. We loved the waterfall in the back that my daughter had so much fun playing in and the hiking trail that was right next to the property was also really great! The house was well furnished. I especially like the cute kitchen! It was perfect for our family and we loved how close it was to so many fun things! It was only 15 to Chimney Rock so we went there a few times and we ate the village there several times and also enjoyed Lake Lure. Asheville was pretty close too, so we went there a few times as well. There is an entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway very close by as well that we took advantage of.

Straight out of a Fairy Tale..Loved it!

We loved our three nights here. We spent most of the time reading and sunning at the base of the waterfall in the backyard. The nature preserve trailhead is 50 yards away with miles of great trails and little waterfalls. We'll be back soon.

Thanks Sheila,
Chris and Linda.
