Straight To The Point
Lake Anna Central Virginia
Churchton, MD

It is as amazing as it looks!

  • 5 of 5
Our extended family stayed at STTP for our annual family reunion for the last two years. Yes, it has a basketball court, tennis court, football field (really), golf green, pier and boathouse, rafts, kayaks, a beautiful house, and it is so private you feel like you own the entire lake. The property is an entire penninsula, immaculately kept. We brought two 14 ft. Laser sailboats that we just rigged up and left on the beach, so anyone could just jump in and go. We rented a pontoon boat also, and took fishing and tubing expeditions.

We have kids from 3 to 85 in our family. And no one ever left the property all week, except to go to the store or take the boat out. No "I'm bored", no "can we go somewhere else today" (although Kings Dominion is an easy day trip). The beach by the boathouse has a very gradual slope, and is easily seen from the house - piece of mind for parents of kids who maybe are not the best swimmers. The kids were in the lake from breakfast to bedtime, and with fishing right on the pier, always an adult to keep an eye on them. Nice break for the parents!

The owner, Jerold, is great to work with, very reasonable and responsive.

We will be back!

The date is wrong as I am very late leaving my review.
Absolutely amazing vacation! the setting is just fabulous with so much to do and the kids just wanted to fish off the dock and kayak all day. Had a lovely Easter egg hunt.
Could not have been more pleased with Straight to the point. Loved it and want to visit again soon.

One of a kind

The trip was great! We loved your home and the property kept our busy little ones just thrilled all week. In fact besides some Food Lion runs and a run to church Sunday we really did not leave. we had everything we needed. A pastor at church also really blessed us by connecting us with a guy who lives just across the lake from you and he was so kind to us. he brought his boat over 2 days and took all of us tubing for hours. Wow what a blast. We would certainly come again. Very quiet and serene. Especially early morning and dusk. Caught Bass off the dock. caught Turtles and frogs and even saw an American Bald Eagle with a fish in its talons.

Fantastic Family Reunion Venue..our 12 yr. grandaughter found it online..It is a WINNER!

Our daughter and her family live in Germany and comes to the US once a year and we meet with the other 3 siblings' families in a somewhat central location. We all lead very busy lives and look forward all year to this time together and catching up as a family and enjoying every possible minute together. Straight to the Point was the icing on the cake for our family to have a lifetime of memories for our 2014 Family Reunion. We had 10 adults and 9 children ages 18 mos. to 12. The layout of the home was perfect for each couple to have their own rooms and the older cousins to have their own room with bunk beds. We did bring our own porta cribs for the two younger ones. The matriarch and patriarch of the family (my husband and I) had the penthouse bedroom on the 3rd floor. A beautiful sunrise welcomed us each morning along with birds singing and one evening we had a bonfire while watching the sunset. We were so blessed with weather in the 60's in February and totally enjoyed sitting on the dock while the kids played in the paddle boats out on the lake, several even got in the water...way too cold for this Florida gal. The spacious kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed..dishes were a little mismatched but it sure didn't bother us..we were able to prepare some great meals with even a nice griddle for a pancake breakfast. The living area was a little short on chairs or sofa for our size family but it was cozy and comfy and we added a few dining/patio chairs for our annual talent show and our family sharing time. In the common area (2nd floor) it was common to see the pool table being used, dinner being prepared, little ones watching a TV show and the older ones playing Bingo at the dining table all in the same environment. The home had lots of toys, games & sports equipment. I loved looking out and seeing my 9 year old grandson playing basketball on the court with his uncles who he only sees once a year. As the owner told me the internet was a little intermittent and it was but we survived. The grocery was a little further than expected but it was closer to the Richmond and Dulles airport than we expected. Our entire family would recommend this home for a special occasion, getaway, reunion, etc. Greg, the property manager, met us at the home and was very helpful in getting us settled in. The owner has been most gracious in our communication.
Thanks and look forward to returning!

Perfect place for my husbands 30th birthday!!!!

  • 5 of 5
I've been looking for a fun and relaxing place to celebrate my husbands 30th birthday for a while. We finally narrowed it down to lake Anna because we've always really enjoyed spending our time there. Once we found this house, which took no time at all, we knew this would be perfect. There were 8 of us and we wanted to enjoy a fun sports weekend in the backyard and celebrate my husband turning 30.

From the very first email to the the follow up email, the owner has been nothing short of amazing and super prompt in answering ALL of my questions in my emails. He was so helpful and gave suggestions on local places to eat etc. He even sent a message the day after check out asking how our vacation was.

Once we booked the home, we were put in touch with the agent. The agent immediately emailed me all the check in information I needed. He even sent me an iPhone APP to download to check out the directions and local points of interest. He also was very prompt in answering emails on setting up times to meet at the house. Once we met him at the house he showed us around. Showed us how certain things worked. Answered any last questions we had and was on his way.

It POURED the first two days. Not even a break in the clouds to enjoy the outside, which was the main reason we booked the house. Thankfully, the house is big enough, it never once felt crowded and we found plenty to do. The couch fit us all comfortably to sit and watch movies. We brought and played our own card games and bored games, but the house provided many more for us to enjoy. The pool table was a huge hit!! Could've used more seating, but we brought the bar stools and chairs over and made it all work. The two fridges were the best!! Food in one. Beverages in the other. Kept the kitchen clean and not crowded. We loved that each couple had their own bedrooms and their own bathroom. Also loved that almost every room has a lake view.

Saturday we checked the weather and noticed, of course, the day we checked out would be the only nice sunny day. I emailed the owner and the agent and both responded immediately. They gave us a late check out which allowed us to fully enjoy the backyard and we were happy we got to walk the grounds and enjoy some sunny fresh weather. The roof top deck was the best place to sit and relax and enjoy the view. Sunday morning I woke up to a beautiful sunrise and it was a nice surprised after two full days of yucky rain.

We can't wait to go back!!!!

Something for Everyone...a WONDERFUL Memory... (2 parts)

  • 5 of 5
(Continued) You are pretty much disconnected from the world when on this vacation. Only my ATT Blackberry was able to get service sporadically – all the Verizon cells and Iphones were out of luck. It was nice to unplug for the week but if you are looking to work remotely – the whole lake area is not an option. Outside, the sofa under the home’s deck was great when it rained one day and on the lake deck the heavy granite table and patio chairs offered a place to sit and chat while the kids swam. We brought an EZUp tent with us for the deck and glad we did because it was much sunnier and hotter than expected. We all brought sling chairs with us as well – and glad we did because the resin outdoor chairs are well worn and some older broken furniture is lying in the woods near the shed. (As a family who lives on the Jersey Shore and entertains a lot, this is just a normal annual expense to purchase new resin chairs and not white ones as they show every spot from rain and dirt.) The fire pit was enjoyable and as long as you play golf for “fun” you will enjoy the setup. There are many roots that have grown and make the golf area a challenge in a fun way. We are glad we didn’t rent a boat. The private side of the lake has no access to the public side at all – 3 dykes block your access. This home is on the 1st dyke and the water is 2 degrees warmer than the public side due to the power plant (which was a very interesting trip – so educational for the kids and adults). The water in the lake was about 87 degrees. If you are on the third dyke though – the water could be 12-14 degrees warmer. Coming from NJ it was not refreshing to the adults but it allowed the kids to swim from 8AM to 9PM without ever complaining they were cold ? Taking a raft around the lake we found that the cove was about 22 feet in depth but further out we were at 45 ft. We caught lots of catfish, and a bass… and many sunnies from the dock itself. There are many peninsulas around the lake and you need to be careful with a trolling motor because even 30 feet off the tip of this peninsula, the depth is only 6 feet. Loved having our fishfinder more to tell us what depth we were in for fear of hitting bottom. All in all a GREAT vacation and wonderful memory! If you are looking to really connect with your loved ones and NEVER hear the words “I’m Bored” from a child, THIS IS THE PROPERTY TO RENT! We feel so blessed to have had this time together in such a beautiful place.
