Excellent Service and Very Good Location

  • 5 of 5
We stayed for a week, house has typical Merida's style and decoration, the backyard and the pool are small but very cozy, the birds singing in the morning is very relaxing, the service and the attention of the property Manager were amazing. About location there is a market just 2 blocks away were you can have typical breakfast, lunch or dinner and also they sell fresh friuts and vegetables, the main square is also at walking distance. We really enjoyed the time we spent there and would stay in Colobri House again.

Casa Colibri

  • 4 of 5
We rented with Casa for 2 months. We found it convenient and just how it was advertised to be. That being said, a few items were less than perfect.

We rented this Casa for 2 months. This was our first visit to Merida. As Promised this casa was an easy walk to the main square of the old town. It was a colonial building and had many great features. Merida is a great city and extremely easy to get around. Taxies are inexpensive and buses are comfortable and readily available.
The manager, Lucia, was extremely helpful in providing outdoor seating, removal of the problem pigeons, repair of a suddenly broken water heater, and repair of the fridge. All these items were things than can break down without warning. Lucia did a great job when called upon to assist as and when required. She was there to meet us and also called a taxi for our departure early in the morning.
The English Library is 3 blocks away and a valuable resource for English speaking vacationers. Lots of great restaurants are nearby. Take a look at this casa and enjoy a holiday in Merida.

Wonderful house in a great city!

  • 5 of 5
Our first time in Merida and couldnt have picked a more perfect house or location. The neigborhood is safe, the neighbors are friendly and there are many restaurants and shops within walking distance. The Central Plaza area is only a few blocks away as well as Paseo de Montejo, a street with fabulous mansions, museums and restauants. The house was in perfect shape, comfortable and elegant. I would recommend a city map if you are driving and it was easy to make day trips to Celuston(take the flamingo tour), Progresso and the ruins at Uxmal. Lucia, the agent for renting the house was helpful and available if we needed anything. Great vacation, one of the nicest houses we had the pleasure to stay in. we hated to leave and look forward to our next visit.

a real merida experience.

we stayed at casa colibri for a month and it was such a lovely relaxing place to stay.it was in the barrio of santiago just a short walk up the street to the church, the square and fruit and vegetable market.i went every morning to buy oranges from the same mayan lady for our fresh juice.every tuesday nite they had a band playing and you can dance under the stars.you are about an easy 20 minute walk to the main square and the paseo.taxis are everywhere and cheap to you needn't even walk.the house was a refuge from the heat. the totally private pool inviting.the house was a very old, modernized colonial. our friends visited and said it felt like a mexican family lived there. so comfy the furniture and so a beautiful master suite up the back stairs.lucia our agent was very helpful.you are in a real neighborhood where every one greets you and you don't feel so much like a tourist.had a awesome time....

A great home base for touring Merida and the area.

Casa Colibri was a great find for us and very reasonably priced. However there are a few things perspective renters should know. The "third" bedroom is really a den with a sofa bed. it is also where the television is, so if you want to watch TV, you need to invade that "bedroom."

There is no where to hang clothing in the upstairs master bedroom and calls to the management company to remedy a few minor issues during our stay were generally ignored. One of those was a lack of hot water in the downstairs bathrooms. I have since learned that they have replaced the person who was then responsible for that and that things should be better moving ahead.

We had six people in our group and our electricity costs, which you pay above your rental costs, were about $50.00 for a week.

I would certainly stay at Casa Colibri again, and not hesitate to recommend to my friends, even with the small problems we experienced.

House & location beautiful - maintenance issues

House & location beautiful - maintenance issues
  • 2 of 5
House was beautiful and location great. Rented the house for 8 days yet only able to use the pool for 4 as it got so murky you could not see the steps or bottom of the pool. We were told it was our fault as we did not request maintenance when they asked if we would like it. Pool should be maintained without having to request it as most renters do not know the requirements. General maintenance issues like burnt out light bulbs in many rooms. No place to hang clothes in the Master Bedroom as both closets full of owners clothes and locked. A deposit was required for electricity. It has been over a month now and we are still waiting for our refund on the unused portion.
