Built in 1898, this home is on the National Historic Record of Homes, but features all the amenities of a new home including a master suite with gas fireplace, an eat-in kitchen with granite countertops and an exercise room with treadmill, recumbent bike, television and weight machine. Wrap around porches and a huge deck cantilevered over the hill above the lake make for great views and relaxation rain or shine. The Huge Great Room is great for gatherings, yet intimate for quiet reflection around the brick fireplace. Lots of privacy as the house is setback 200 feet from the street. You're just steps to the sand beach and dock. There's great fishing and lots of lake to explore as we are connected to neighboring Chisago Lake.

We, a group of women, have used the Swedish Cottage as a place for a winter weekend retreat on three different occasions. We love the expansiveness of the house, which accommodates group as well as alone times. The living room fireplace provides a cozy place for conversation on winter evenings while the Kitchen and Lounge facing the lake are sun-filled from morning to evening, making them a favorite gathering spot. We love to cook and find the kitchen a pleasure to use. The cottage has begun to feel like "our" home.
Jim, I really can't think of anything else that would have been helpful. We kept your notebook nearby and consulted as necessary!

We would all return to this location and recommend it to our friends.
The pictures reflect the actual beauty of the house. We had a cool, rainy weekend, but that didn't keep us from enjoying the stay. The kitchen has just about everything you could need for meal preparation. The fireplace provided the ambiance for our evening games and conversation.
We found plenty to do inspite of the rain. We shopped Linstrom and left some cash behind. We drove to Franconia Sculpture. That is such a fun experience!
I would highly recommend The Swedish Cottage for your family and/or friends gathering.
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. We've been looking all around the house for the "cash you left behind," but can't seem to find it... ;)
Please come again!
