Looking for a nice comfortable place to stay? You have found it at Villa Verde 1, Unit #9. My husband and I rented the condo for two weeks, from Feb. 4-11. The unit is very comfortable, beautifully decorated and has a well equipped kitchen with everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. We appreciated the comfortable beds, plasma TV in the bedroom and living room. The soft white towels and beach towels are also supplied. The beach towels are quite thick therefore you may want to bring lighter towels at the beach. On the other hand, we never used a towel at the beach as it is so warm that you dry off very quickly. The pool was very clean and garden is well maintained by Antonio the gardener. There is a security guard at the complex at all times and it feels very safe. There are 18 rental units in the complex owned by independent owners. Some are long term rentals and some are short term rentals.
The beach is a few minutes away walking distance. There are two Spanish schools on the same road, Supermarket nearby and many restaurants walking distance. Very conveniently located. Tamarindo Shuttle provides an excellent service to get you from the airport to the condo for $30 p.p. return if you book online or $18 per person one way. There are many great places to eat. Some suggestions are Copacabana (directly on the beach), Le Petit Café for lunch (owned by Alison a Canadian from Toronto). I wrote all the info of places to eat in the guest book in the condo. I recommend walking to the Playa Grande (walk from Tamarindo Beach, cross the Estuary in low tide and take boat for $1 to return in high tide). If you walk up close to the bushes you will come across huge holes, this is where the leather back turtles nest. You can also collect sand dollar shells on the Playa Grande beach and watch the surfers during high tide. Don't forget to stop at Taco Star Beach Café to eat the best Tacos in town made by Brittany and Jay.
If you decide to rent a car, I suggest renting a 4x4 as the back roads are gravel roads with many holes and it will be easier to get to some really nice beaches such as Playa Avallones, Playa Penca, Playa Portrero, Playa Junquittal, Playa Flamingo, and the list goes on.... As there is a shortage of rental cars, you often have to rent for a minimum of three days. You may want to book online before your arrival.
Tamarindo Beach and area is definitely worth visiting. Pura Vida!
