House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 4 Sleeps

Casita a la Sombra is a delightful 2-bedroom 2-bath home in the historic Eastside. Three blocks from the Canyon Road art gallery district it is located in a quiet compound adjacent to Casita del Sol, a 1-bedroom casita. It is enclosed in its own private garden patio, yet only a short 15-minute walk to the plaza. It has been tastefully renovated, retaining all the charm of an authentic adobe and updated with generous amenities. Comfortably furnished, it has all the Santa Fe charm you expect -- viga ceilings throughout, two corner kiva fireplaces, lovely Mexican-patterned tile accents.

Family Vacation in Santa Fe

Casita a la Sombra was more that we expected based on the write-up and photos. First the location of the home is in the ideal location for accessing every area of all there is to do in the heart of Santa Fe. We were never 5 or 10 minutes from museums, restaurants or the many local beautiful tourist sites as well as grocery stores and the highway to access the other surrounding fun places to visit. The casita itself is in a charming compound unique to the beautiful historical Eastside. The entire Eastside was safe making for peaceful evening walks. The casita was well taken care of, extremely clean and decorated beautifully in traditional adobe decor--like something out of a magazine and had all the day-to-day amenities, local maps, recommendations and information needed for a stress-free vacation. This home especially worked for our "Sandwich" family as my 75 year old mother has a physical disability and cannot go up and down stairs or get into a bathtub so the one floor living and walk-in shower worked perfectly for her while my teenagers enjoyed the claw foot tub. We ate in three of the restaurants recommended in the House Guest book--Zia Diner, Upper Crust Pizza and Burro Ally Cafe--all delicious with outstanding customer service and accommodating to my food allergy needs. We did the Santa Fe Trolly tour at Loredo, strolled Canyon Street galleries, Georgia O'Keeffe, Santa Fe and Folk Art Museums, the Flea Market,Hyde Park and Santa Fe Ski Basin and El Rancho De Las Golondrinas, saw several of the historical churches as well as roamed the numerous quaint historical streets to be part of all their offerings! Our first time experience to Santa Fe was made extra special because of our wonderful accommodations thanks to ML and Glen who were extremely prompt and helpful with all of their interactions. We would highly recommend Casita a la Sombra which met all of our generational needs!
