All bedrooms upstairs: Master w/bath & queen, office, wi-fi & w/d. Lg BR w/queen & child's bed, shares newly renovated full bath (w/ whirlpool) with sunny double bed BR (still under renovation--photo available soon).

Downstairs: LR (tv), DR, Den, Solar breakfast room, 1/2 bath & full kitchen w/ DW (see photo montage 14). Screened porch & outdoor shower overlook Tao garden (photos 5, 12 & 13).

All linens provided, well-equipped kitchen.

3/4 mi walk (or drive) through Audubon properties to Bone Hill beach, good for small children (no big waves) overlooking Sandy Neck & Barnstable Harbor (photo 8 is Sandy Neck).

About the Owner

Now a retired university professor, I taught high school on Cape Cod from 1975-1990, at UMass, NCSU and Fairfield Universities from 1990 to 2013. I am currently in Maser Gardener training, and will serve the Cape Community through the Barnstable County Extension Service beginning this April.

This formerly and currently historic and agricultural area of Barnstable offers a peaceful and lovely natural setting. It is a historic neighborhood that retains the flavor of the Old Cape Cod, yet is near Hyannis, the airport, transportation centers (bus, rail, and ferry) mall and restaurants, beaches, whale watch and Audubon property.

Activity and Interests


Bone Hill Beach (3/4 mi) with Town Way to Water with free parking along roadside. Sandy Neck Beach accessible by boat, kayak or canoe across Barnstable Harbor

Walk to Bone Hill beach through Long Pasture Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary--birds, pasture animals and trails

Sandy Neck Beach (7 mile Conservation Area--drive 7mi or by boat (above)

Barnstable Millway Beach (1.75 mi)--Boat ramp @ Barnstable Harbor Marina. Hyannis Whale Watch and Harbor cruises. Barnstable beach stickers (north and south side beaches) available $50/season. Many lakes and ponds also nearby for swimming, fishing, small craft.

Hyannis 10 minutes away-- Airport, Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket Ferries, Sightseeing tours, dining, shopping & recreation

Cape Cod Natonal Seashore, Provincetown, Chatham, Wellfleet & other Cape towns each have unique character and special attractions--all great day-trips. Nat'l Seashore annual pass: $45/yr.

From the Owner

With no other houses nearby, local birds (and occasional turkeys, hawks, and deer) visit the yard and gardens. I have grown vegetables and flowers organically here for 35 years.
