Best location on lake!

  • 5 of 5
This lake home was the perfect place for us to spend the weekend with our family. The location of the home provides a beautiful view of the lake from inside the home and especially from the long covered porch outside. My mother has knee issues but was able to sit and swing on the porch while watching all we were doing down at the dock. We also enjoyed watching the sunrise from our bed in the upstairs master bedroom one morning. Beautiful! A hummingbird surprised us on the porch one morning and butterflies were frequently seen all around the property.

The home is so much nicer than the pictures show. The upstairs is nicely decorated and has an open floor plan which really accentuates the view of the lake. The kitchen is fully stocked with all you need to make complete meals, and plenty of towels, blankets, pillows, etc. were provided for the bathrooms and bedrooms. The downstairs is not as decorated as the upstairs, as mentioned in a previous review, but it is still fine. It provided plenty of space for all 7 of us with room to spare. The downstairs living area is spacious and provides another great view of the lake, as does the largest of the bedrooms downstairs. The bathrooms throughout the home were all nice and clean.

Now to the best part - the dock! The dock is a huge covered dock with a party deck up top that has a covered section. Underneath, there are two separate boat slips and multiple covered areas for fishing or just sitting in the shade and enjoying the lake. Our teenage sons and our 7 year old son all enjoyed jumping off the top of the dock into the deep water over and over again! So much fun! This part of the lake had very little boat traffic while we were there and had smooth water the majority of the time. Perfect location for skiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, tubing, or just floating on the water. We even stayed in the water until 9:30 the first night enjoying the peacefulness and watching the stars (even had a shooting star or two!).

Charlene was so nice to deal with throughout the reservation process and was quick to answer any questions we had. The neighbors are also very kind and even helped us put our boat into the water using the boat ramp on this property right beside the dock.

All in all, a fun weekend at a wonderful lake home! We will be back!!!

House needs updating.

  • 4 of 5
First let me start by saying this house is in the PERFECT location. Calm waters with little boat traffic. Perfect for knee boarding, skiing, rafting and fishing. The dock is amazing, with great views and large enough for both our boats. We spent most of our time on the water and the dock, which was perfect. Now for the house...It was OK. I could tell that this house at one time was well kept and nice. The owner needs to address some issues. There are stains on the carpet throughout the house. The upstairs Master bedroom has exposed wires, there is no satellite or cable so you only get 5 channels upstairs. The master bedroom closet had a bed frame in the middle of the closet. Not sure of that purpose. The upstairs is decorated nicely... There is NO working TV downstairs (where 3 bedrooms are) The refrigerator downstairs does not keep cool. In one of the downstairs bedrooms the closet door was off it hinges, which we fixed. The closets downstairs are not usable due to being full of hardwood floors..There is no decorations in the downstairs bedrooms. I have rented on Lake Hartwell and Lake Keowee for years, if the owner would take the time and effort to upgrade this house it would be perfect. I would recommend this house, but just be prepared it is not in prime condition.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review and I agree this is a fabulous waterfront home and location on the lake. We have been making improvements as we move along on this vacation rental adventure and I'm so glad you made me aware of some of the things I didn't know about. The stains on the carpet are not removable unless we replace the carpet, we've had the carpets cleaned over and over again and its actually from moisture under the padding that soaked through from some heavy post beds that were in the downstairs rooms at one time. We plan to put hardwood floors the carpet rooms real soon, (thus the reason for the wood in the closets). Since your review, I've had an electrcian cover the exposed wires and the cable TV works just fine now, just have to punch in the channels you want to see instead of just the up and down arrow key. I'll leave a note for the next tenants about this. I've moved a TV into the master bedroom that works for DVD only and we are putting a TV downstairs too! I hope to add my decor to the downstairs real soon!

total relaxation on the lake!

The perfect choice if you're looking for quiet, clean and convenient on lake Hartwell! We stayed at the house with 3 other couples- the house was plenty big enough for all 8 of us, all our stuff and our 4 trucks/trailers & boats. the back porch overlooks the lake and is perfect for eating dinner, the big screen tv was great. The house has a boat ramp to put your boat in and take it out. the house was perfect for our vacation/fishing tournament & is 2 minutes by water from the Gum Branch mega ramp. oh, and we fell in love with the neighbors dog too- she was too sweet!
will definitely put this one on the "keeper" list.
