Cozy Cottage on East Side of Seneca Lake, with whirlpool tub

Overview

Property Details

Updated: Feb 27, 2015
Cottage, 1 Bedrooms, 1 Baths, 5 Sleeps

Our cozy cottage is right in the heart of wine country and overlooks Seneca Lake from the east side, so the sunsets are amazing and filled with spectacular colors. Set among summer cottages and homes in a rustic/country-style neighborhood, our property has 50 feet of lake frontage with a dock. Depending on the weather and day of the week, the atmosphere on this uncongested lake ranges from calm and peaceful to joyful and fun.

Our newly renovated cottage features a luxurious bathroom with a whirlpool tub, an open floor plan between the kitchen and living room, and a deck with a comfortable patio set and gas grill. There are two sliding glass doors that lead from the living room to the deck, which allow for nice lake views through the surrounding trees. Four adults or three adults and two children can sleep comfortably in this one bedroom cottage with a queen-size bed, a twin-size bed, and a full-size pullout futon sofa. The kitchen is fully stocked and the cottage has air conditioning. There is enough parking for two vehicles.

The lakefront has a shaded area with a bonfire ring and picnic table, as well as a sunny dock. You can borrow the owner's kayak and row boat (with oars), or use the floats/tubes, and extra chairs that are kept in the boat shed. There's something for everyone, including swimming, boating, kayaking, floating/lounging in the sun, long walks along a dirt road through vineyards, fishing, and romantic evenings watching the sun set and drinking local wine.

Beautiful views!

  • 5 of 5
We took a short, last minute getaway and couldn't be happier! Mary was very accommodating with our late check in time. The cottage is charming and comfortable. We had just as much fun relaxing on the deck and dock as we did jumping from winery to winery (all which are very close to the cottage). The views are amazing and it is a perfect place to escape. We already started discussing another trip in June and hopefully will be able to enjoy a summer weekend at Seneca Lake!

Perfect for Couples and Small Families

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed at this cottage for our ten year anniversary, and I couldn't be happier with our choice of accommodations. We hiked at Taughannock Falls, south of Trumansburg. So beautiful! On our way back, we went to the restaurant in Trumansburg that was recommended by the owners (Hazelnut Kitchen), and it was just exactly what we wanted- small and romantic with food that was delicious and beautifully presented. The cottage was clean, and the whirlpool tub was very relaxing. I highly recommend this cottage for couples, and it's big enough for small families as well.

PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5
When we saw the pictures for this cottage, we were so excited for our weekend getaway! When we arrived, it was even more beautiful than we could have imagined! It is very private, and the views are spectacular. It is very close to Watkins Glen, we went hiking at Watkins Glen State Park and enjoyed the Seneca Harbor. There are so many wineries within a mile or two! The owners were great to work with, we would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quiet getaway in the finger lakes region!

Great lakehouse!

  • 4 of 5
The property was just what we were looking for for our stay.

Secluded, private area with a great view of the lake. Watching the sun go down over the lake and having a fire on the beach is a great way to close the day!

Amazing views, close to wineries, relaxing!!

  • 5 of 5
The cottage was amazing!!! My husband, furbaby and I, came for a relaxing Memorial Day getaway. The drive from Quakertown, pa to Seneca Lake was perfect. The views driving to the cottage was amazing. Driving through the vineyard was a unique experience. Our first impression of the cottage was pure excitement. The location is perfect! When we first walked into the cottage I immediately noticed how clean everything was. I walked right to the sliding glass doors and stepped out onto the deck. What an amazing view of the lake! We decided to venture into Watkins Glen to pick up some necessities (beer) from the Walmart. We found ourselves at the Crooked Rooster Brewpub for dinner. We left our dog in the car and parked on a side street. He was fine. When returning to the cottage, the tub was a perfect way to end the day. The next day we went to Silver Thread Vineyard after spending several hours relaxing in the sun on the dock. Our dog loved swimming and collecting sticks while we watched. After Silver Thread, we went to Danos for dinner. Amazing! We sat outside and had the most perfect day. Their food was amazing! I suggest making reservations. It's literally a 5 min drive from the cottage. On Sunday we decided to go hiking at Watkins glen gorge. Bad idea. Apparently they bus people in from everywhere imaginable. Maybe it was insanely crowded because it was a holiday weekend. We walked a quarter mike and turned around. Went to a few wineries on the way back and found ourselves watching the beautiful sunset from the deck of the cottage. We've already discussed a return trip and I can't wait! We had a great chat with Mike down by the dock. What a great guy! Mary was amazing to talk to via email as I shared pics of our furbaby Rosco. I can't wait to return. An absolute gem! Thank you Mary and Mike for sharing your little slice of heaven!!! Thank you!!

Delightful!

  • 5 of 5
My significant other and I spent a cozy, quiet extended weekend here and could not have enjoyed it more. The view, gas fireplace and the whirlpool tub were so romantic. Since we arrived on a Thursday, there weren't many people in the surrounding cottages so it was extremely quiet which we both enjoyed. The proximity to wineries and restaurants is great (not too close, not too far) and the hosts were very helpful with anything we needed before and during the trip. I would recommend this spot to anyone and really hope we're able to go back!

The surrounding area is incredibly dense with wineries overlooking the lake. You can have a great time touring the area and tasting wines. THERE ARE MORE THAN 10 WINERIES AND A BREWERY WITHIN A 10 MINUTE DRIVE, AND ONE WINERY WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE. The property is 15 minutes from Watkins Glen, home of the Watkins Glen International Race Track and the Watkins Glen Gorge. At the Glen Harbor Marina, take a ride on Captain Bill's Sightseeing Boat, the Seneca Legacy Dinnercruise Boat, or the Malibar/True Love Sailboat. Our cottage is also surrounded by the Finger Lakes National Forest, with hiking trails. You-pick fruit orchards and honor-system fruit and vegetable stands are available frequently during the summer and fall. Skyland Farm, a fine-craft gallery with items from over 500 artists and a feeding farm, is a must-see. The cuisine in the area is delicious with dining atmospheres ranging from casual to elegant. Many of the restaurants offer local, farm-fresh foods. Two miles across the lake, the Rainbow Cove Restaurant has slips for boats.

Notes:

  • - luxurious bathroom with whirlpool tub - fully stocked kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, and cooking/eating utensils - satellite TV in living room - wireless internet (see note below) - air conditioning - clean linens provided - clothes washer and dryer - 50 feet of lake frontage - parking for two vehicles - queen-size bed in bedroom, twin-size bed in main room, and full-size pullout futon sofa in living room - deck facing the lake with a comfortable patio set and gas grill - the lakefront has a shaded area with a bonfire ring and picnic table, as well as a sunny dock. You can borrow the owner's kayak or row boat, or use the floats/tubes, and extra chairs that are kept in the boat shed - access to the lake frontage from the yard is by way of a sturdy staircase or by a short road that goes around the neighborhood (about 1/4 mile to our frontage). The staircase has about 70 steps. The run for the steps is 11 inches, which is nice, and there are three decks with benches, in case anyone needs to rest or wants to see the view. It's also very handy to be able to drive down if you're carrying coolers, towels, suntan lotion, or are taking some small kids down all at once. The road is for limited use, especially on busy weekends, but it is there when you need it. Note: Internet is available at the cottage, and you can use up to 1.75 GB of data per week, or 0.25 GB of data per day, for free. That should be way more than enough, unless you're downloading a lot of U-tube videos, playing video games, or watching movies online. Video is usually the only thing that uses so much data. I almost always use less than 1.75 GB in a whole month, and I'm on email and the internet many times a day. If you or your children use more, then we will take $2.50 out of your security deposit for every 0.25 GB of your usage above your allotment. If Verizon didn't charge us for extra data usage, we wouldn't need to do this, so we hope you understand.
