You don’t have to be a golfer to appreciate the “Marinelli Cabin” which offers you mountain views from a large deck along with privacy, fresh mountain air and the relaxing sounds of South Toe River. Try your hand at fly fishing. Take a bike ride on the Blue Ridge Parkway just 2 miles away. Go tubing at nearby Carolina Hemlocks Park. Hike to nearby waterfalls, including Roaring Fork, Setrock Creek and Crabtree Meadows. Shop for pottery, gems and glassware created by local artisans. Or climb the observation tower at Mount Mitchell, the highest point east of the Mississippi River at 6,684 feet.

Here at the “Marinelli Cabin” your dream vacation becomes reality -- a cozy Log cabin high in the North Carolina mountains only 2 miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Have you ever fantasized how nice it would be to wake up snuggled in a warm cozy bed to the sounds of birds and a rushing river and then step out on a deck to sip your coffee, taking in the cool mountain air and the gorgeous colors of the season?

The kitchen is large ,plenty of room to cook for all the family and then some. Watch tv after dinner on a large screen and relax in any of the comfortable couches and chairs in the living room, or on the enormous deck out Front. Take a hike down to the golf course or to the river, or to any of the hiking trails in the area..

We do have plenty of sleeping accomodations for all including a pull out sleeper sofa downstairs in a seating room.

Carolina Hemlocks Recreation Park - Operated by Pisgah National Forest, Hiking trails, terrific swimming hole in summer, RV and tent camping, tubing in the river, great trout fishing in the South Toe River.

Mount Mitchell Golf Course - Rated 4 1/2 stars by Golf Digest one of the best public courses in the mountains, centered on the South Toe River which comes into play on almost every fairway on the back nine.

Black Mountain Campground - Within the Pisgah National Forest and along the South Toe River watershed on Mount Mitchell's eastern slope. Hunting, Fishing, waterfalls, hiking trails, RV dump station, RV and tent camping.

Setrock Waterfalls - located at Black Mountain Campground, about 1/2 mile hike, cascading waterfall of over one hundred feet.

Little Switzerland -- quaint shops, great restuarants

Roaring Fork Waterfall - only 1/2 mile from Mount Mitchell Golf Course, one of the most spectacular falls in the area, and a real hidden gem. Its 1/2 mile hike up a forest road, nearly level hike.

Penland School of Crafts - I like to call it the "Juliard" of craft arts. Its located between Burnsville and Spruce Pine, and has drawn many artists to the area. We may have the largest concentration of craft artists in the Eastern US.
