Activity and Interests

The riverfront town of Calais, Maine is an extraordinary outpost in Downeast Maine. Follow route 1 along the waterfront out to Passamaquoddy Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Day trip to Eastport, a charming town with many artisans in residence, or Lubec, home of the adult music camp, Summerkeys, Monica's chocolate and the bridge to Campobello Island, summer estate to the Roosevelts. Take an intimate cooking course and enjoy fine wines and cheeses at the Ice House in nearby Robbinston. Fish at nearby lakes where anglers come from all over for the annual bass derby. Watch eagles soar along the shoreline. Eagles have actually landed on the property. See moose in their natural surroundings at Moosehorn National Wldlife Refuge. Spend the day at Cobscook Bay State Park. Kayak the river or take a riverboat ride to Eastport. There is a public boat dock within minutes of the house. Enjoy our free music concerts on the green in downtown Calais, Tuesday evenings throughout the summer. Enjoy the beauty of nature in all its seasons and be in another country in less than ten minutes!!!
