About the Owner

I moved to Ocean City in 1996. I purchased The Ohana in 1997, and it was my year round home. In 2003, I was married, and moved to the DC area. We now rent The Ohana during the summer, and it is our second home in the off season. I have been renting weekly since 2003, and have had many visitors stay and enjoy our home and Ocean City for over 12 years!

Vacation Homes in Ocean City Ocean City

NIce spot, great value, very family friendly

  • 4 of 5
I've been vacationing in Ocean City Maryland for years As our family grew, so did the costs for spending a week at the beach. A friend suggested I check out the Ohana and I couldn't have been more pleased.

First is the location. As my kids became teens, wandering around, making nonstop trips back and forth to the beach and boardwalk, I hoped to find a spot where they could come and go on their schedule while my wife and I did our thing. Tucked into a quieter street (Dayton Lane) just off the busier Philadelphia Ave., we very much appreciated being only 2 blocks from the beach and boardwalk and having our own off street parking spot. My wife and I also appreciated spending less on a hotel or motel room and having more to spend on dining and fun. Kids and the boardwalk are never cheap!

I'm kind of a nut about properly functioning AC, and have stayed at many places where the AC was sub par for the beach, but I was impressed by how well the AC worked. We kept it super cool. Nothing worse (for me) than coming home after a day in the sun to a stuffy room or trying to sleep when I'm sweating. We also found ourselves doing more laundry because of the convenience of having a washer and dryer in the unit. Next time we'll pack even lighter and do a few extra loads while we're there. TV was fine, basic DISH offerings, but we're not TV people when we're at the beach, so it wasn't a big deal for us. Of course the kids just stream Netflix to their iPads and phones, so really it was just my wife and I in front of the tube. Plenty of room, my son and daughter both brought friends. First floor, so getting in and out with groceries and luggage was a breeze.

Pros: Clean, convenient, affordable, near everything, roomy, off street parking, with great AC and all the appliances you need.

Cons: No pool or backyard. Full disclosure: my wife thinks this is a silly gripe, but I rarely give anything 5 stars, so I had to complain about something.

On a side note, the owner says he's OK with kids using the place during senior week, so we're letting my son and his pals rent the place now that we've seen it and know where he'll be and what he's getting into.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay. FYI: as far as pools, there are a few restaurants that have outdoor pools within walking distance. I am not affiliated with any of these places. But if you just want to buy lunch or whatever, you and the kids can hang out in the pool(s).

From the Owner

This is not just some investment property we rent out for an income. As I mentioned, this is our second home, so we take care of it and make sure it is your home away from home in the summer.

Activity and Interests

Nearest Airport : Ocean City Airport at 5 Miles Nearest Barpub : Lazy Lizard Brew Pub at 20 Metres Nearest Golf : Eagles Nest at 5 Miles Nearest Motorway : Route 50 at 100 Metres Nearest Restaurant : Lazy Lizard Bayside and 1st Street at 0.1 Miles Nearest Beach : Ocean City Boardwalk at 0.05 Miles Car: not necessary

As far as the fun in Ocean City, you are RIGHT THERE! Within walking distance! All the restaurants, shops, bars, rides and arcades. And needless to say, the beatful beach and ocean, 2 and 1/2 blocks, right there a short walk away!

Many of you have heard of the famous Assateague Ponies. Well, Assateague island is 15 minutes away! Go west out RT 50, then left on RT 611, and just drive to the very end to Assatueague National Seashore. The national Park is Bayside, but I personally recommend the State Park, which is oceanside. See my pictures to see the ponies. I took that picture myself!

The town of Ocean City ALWAYS has something great going on! Just check their calendar of events. Whether it's the air show, free bands, arts and crafts festivals, the town of Ocean City has it going on!

When skateboard parks first started, they were just kids skating in swimming pools. When a town made the first skateboard park in the United States where was it? Three blocks away! at St. Louis and 3rd Street, the Ocean City Skatebowl was upgraded a few years ago and is better than ever!

From the Owner

The driveway is right by the porch; no stairs or elevators to contend with. And the boardwalk is right in view; a quick 2 /12 blocks away. And this part of the boardwalk is right where all the fun is! Kite Loft, Trimpers Rides, the arcades, all the restaurants and shop Ocean City is famous for! For those of you who are beer aficionados, the Lazy Lizard Brew Pub is right next door. The brew their own beer right on the premises, and at any time have nearly 20+ microbrews on tap! The kitchen is a full kitchen with a washer, dryer and dishwasher. A full stove, microwave and an ice maker in the freezer complete the kitchen. The AC is a new high efficiency ductless system that keeps the place cool on hot summer days. The living room is spacious and the location is perfect. If you do need to go to the grocery store, RT 50 is half a block away. Into the stores in West Ocean City in no time.
