House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, 6 Sleeps

This 3 bedroom/3 bath cottage sits above 4000 feet nestled on 3 acres of woodlands. This serene cottage offers a great mountain view, located off a secluded gravel road. The song birds and hummingbirds arrive in April, which can be observed while sitting in a rocking chair on the wraparound porch. There is wildlife in the area as well, notably red squirrels, chipmunks, bunnies, and occasionally a deer or two. A bear might meander by. The cottage offers a peaceful retreat to read, watch the birds/wildlife, and enjoy the sunset.

Hiking trails are within walking distance from the cabin. Take a hike and enter into the forest of Yellow Mountain and wander old logging trails. In the rainy season, you can follow a waterfall as it travels the mountain top.

The Great Escape

  • 5 of 5
What an amazing escape into the wilderness!!! I could not say enough about this cozy house amongst the woods and Marty (short for Martha mind you) is amazing to work with. Word to the wise.... Bring a GPS or get very familiar with the maps. My sincere apologies for whatever golf course we ended up driving across at 10pm due to loss of connectivity!!! =) The property was extremely well kept and I will say now that the pictures do not do it any justice! We dined in Cashiers and did our shopping (she even has the discount cards for the local store available at the house) and escaped to the mountains. Hiking is close by as well as access to many sight seeing locations which are not too far away. We will definitely be back and look forward to many more trips to this amazing get away. Very spacious and accomodating with just the right amount of features required for those must have moments when you need to connect back to the world. Direct TV and internet were not a must have on the list but I am so glad she has them available because it helped us countless times in getting acquainted with what was near by or available to go see and or hike on. Simply amazing!

Great cabin getaway

  • 5 of 5
Such a cute cabin in the mountains of North Carolina. It has a great view overlooking the porch and plenty of space for my dogs to run. The cabin came with everything we needed for a week. We love the outdoors so we explored lots of waterfalls and hikes nearby. There are several little towns nearby to drive into that have different restaurants and shopping. Asheville is about a 45 minute drive away and a great place to visit! The cabin is also close to Lake Glennwood where you can go swimming, boating, jet-skiing, tubing, etc. Marty (the property owner) is super kind and very helpful with all the questions I had. Can't wait to go back next year!

Well built tree-house-style mountain cottage with plenty of space and all the amenities. Spent most of our time reading, relaxing, and taking in the breathtaking mountain vista from the elevated wrap-around porch.
We and our pet friends thoroughly enjoyed hiking the forested trails on site, and at nearby Whiteside Mountain.
Lots of antique and curiosity shops down the mountain in Cashiers and Highlands.
Pleasant owner. professional rental agent and very reasonable rates.
We didn't want to leave - and neither will you.

Great getaway

  • 5 of 5
We have been coming to Hummingbird Ridge for several years now and absolutely love it here! We just got back from a weeks stay and are already planning to go back in the fall. It is close to so many attractions within an hours drive. Cherokee, Dillsboro, Maggie Valley,Gem mining,Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Lake Glennville is minutes away for kayaking, canoeing and pontoons. It is so relaxing and peaceful with the wrap around porches. It is nice to take a large family and all of us have our own separate space with the three levels.Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! I highly recommend this cabin in the woods with a view!

A great cabin in the woods

This is a lovely cabin in the woods, just as described in the listing. We had 6 people in our family and there was plenty of room. Dealing with this owner was a pleasant experience - I would definitely recommend this place.

Planning to revisit...

Wonderful place to find peace and relaxation. At the same time, there are wonderful hiking and sightseeing opportunities nearby. It is very nicely appointed and maintained, great for a couple who want time alone away from it all. Chipmunks, squirrels, and various birds are there if you want a little company, not to mention the hummingbirds.

We bought this mountain home as a private get away from urban life in Florida. We traveled and vacationed in North Carolina and were aware of the beauty. We specifically wanted a home above 4000 feet
