If you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy, look no further! Sue and Chris' hospitality and beautiful home make it impossible to do anything but relax. We were also very fortunate to have a week of perfect weather; so each morning we were greeted by beautiful sunshine beaming into our windows. Couldn't resist getting up and out to enjoy the sunshine! Our week was filled with lounging on the crystal clear lake, paddle boating (thanks to Chris and Sue!), canoeing, and fishing off the dock (successfully we might add!). Nights were filled with bonfires and smores (and more fishing)! Great area for walks and biking - we wish we had brought our bikes ... House was stocked with needed supplies and very clean. We would definitely recommend The Blue House on Skaneateles Lake! Thanks again, for everything Chris and Sue!

The Blue House was perfect! The house was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The lake front was great to sun bathe in the early part of the day and for fires at night. The water in front of the house is crystal clear with no seaweed and it is between three and four feet deep. It was a great location for snorkeling, kayaking, boating, fish watching, and of course swimming. Sue and Chris, the landlords, live next door and were so friendly and helpful. It was a wonderful vacation on a beautiful lake!

We rented this cottage for a week and had a great time. The cottage has everything you will need for the week and more! The manager is nearby and very responsive to your needs and requests. The cottage was spotless. The cottage is located on the west side of the lake. Nice quite location. I have recommended this property to my friends and would absolutely go back again.

Activity and Interests

Just 2 miles from the cottage is the famous Carpenter's Water Falls. A wonderful place to hike and swim in the creek, This picturesque spot is a photographers dream! A great place for a picnic!

The Glen Haven Hotel Restaurant is about 1 1/2 miles, offering fine dining with a well stocked bar. You can even go by boat, and use the restaurant dock for free.

There are many places to pick your own produce, strawberries, blueberries, etc.

You can fish right off the dock or from your boat. Many 2 to 3 pound Large mouth bass have been caught fishing right from the dock.

Fossils from the Devonian Era (250 million years ago) are embedded in the banks directly across the lake from the cottage. You can dig one out as a souvenier.

Of course the charming town of Skaneateles is just 10 to 15 minutes away with wonderful boutiques, and dozens of restaurants. You can take your boat to Skaneateles, tie up at the city docks and spend the day shopping and eating and then cruising back to the cottage. Also an easy drive by car, with views that will take your breath away!

The U.S. Mailboat delivers the mail every day to the house next door, the mailboat has been doing this since the early 1800's. There are only 2 lakes in the United States left where the mail is delivered by boat and Skaneateles is one of them. You can send a letter that you write, out on the mailboat.

The Glen Haven Historical Society is housed in a 100 year old one room school house just a mile away. They have interesting programs all summer long, and a play ground and tours of the school all summer.
