Come and relax on one of New Hampshire's most beautiful, secluded and pristine lakes. This spacious vacation home is located at the eastern end of Lake Nubanusit with a sweeping view down the length of the lake. The majority of the shoreline is an undeveloped nature preserve, and the 660 acres of the lake are perfect for small boating, swimming, and fishing.
This home is the perfect place for families with pets and kids who want to get away from it all. A private dock and swimming area alongside a fully equipped boat house allow easy access to the water. Blueberry bushes line the lake, and if you boat across and explore the shoreline across the lake, you'll find a rope swing and an eagle's nest... and if you're lucky you'll even see loons and otters!
We've had a wonderful, restful two weeks! How nice it's been to linger over a cup of coffee in the morning. The screened porch and dock are our two favorite places. We celebrated the end of the first week (just because...) by having fresh steamers and lobsters on the porch. The best place to buy seafood is "Choppa's" on route 202 - just a few miles outside of Peterborough, on the way to Jaffrey. Choppa's is also a butcher ship, although you can find great meat at the Hancock market.
The weekends are quite busy ont he lake, so take advantage of spending time on the water during the week. Take a picnic lunch over to Elephant Rock or to the opposite shoreline - the rocks are perfect for relaxing. The eagles are amazing to watch - they're often directly overhead. A couple more ideas: spend your evenings on the dock. We left a "bug candle" in the boathouse. And, leave your window open at night so you can hear the loons!
