Summer is almost here!

As has been the case, year after year, we couldn't wait to be able to stay again at our home away from home in Cape May! This week is just before the school children are out for summer vacation, so although the weekend is fairly busy, mid week is still nice and quiet in town and on the beach.

Our first stop on the way into town is McGlades - an outdoor restaurant literally on the beach and only a block and a half down the promenade from the Sea Mist. They've been there forever and are known for their creative omelets. The boardwalk craft show is also a regular occurrence this weekend in June, and it's fun to check out what is new as we walk from the Sea Mist to the restaurant.

We also got here just in time for the end of restaurant week in Cape May, and had a lovely fixed price dinner at Island Grill in the center of town. This week is also time for the annual Strawberry Festival in Wilbraham Park in West Cape May, a fun afternoon destination for food, antiques, crafts, and other vendors.

As always, it was a lovely week at the Sea Mist. The best view in town is from this beautiful and comfortable 2 bedroom condo. The beach is right across the street, there is parking for one car, and a place to store all of your beach gear is directly under the unit. We highly recommend it!

Slice of Heaven at the Sea Mist in Cape May

This stay at the Sea Mist was for two weeks over Labor Day weekend and into the second week of September. It's our last stay at the Sea Mist, but most definitely not because we don't want to stay here - it's only because we LOVE it so much that we decided to dive in and buy our own slice of heaven in Cape May.

Unit 1 at the Sea Mist has been our home away from home for the last several years, and there is a reason we kept coming back:
- You can't find a better view of the ocean in a 2 bedroom unit.
-The property is top notch - not only is the unit beautiful on the outside, it's lovely, clean and very well maintained on the inside.
-Owners Loraine and Simon are wonderful people to work with, and are happy to be sharing their beautiful home.
-Everyone that walks by the Sea Mist for the first time stops to take a picture - it really is that special of a place, and we can't resist the opportunity to pretend we are the happy owners!
-The beach is right across the street! Even if it's a bad day, you can see the ocean and don't feel like you are missing out on the beach experience.
-In the cooler weather it is still cozy thanks to the gas fireplace and comfortable sitting area.
-Central air and a sea breeze keep it comfortable in the hot weather.

Enjoy Cape May’s beautiful beaches – its groomed and lifeguarded beaches are among the top 10 in the USA. The waves are great for body-surfing.

The city is designated as a National Historic Landmark, thanks to its colorful array of Victorian buildings, some of which are open to the public for tours.

Renting a bicycle is a great way to explore everything Cape May has to offer. Walking tours and horse drawn carriage tours are also popular for sightseeing. Stroll or jog along the famous seafront promenade that runs almost the whole length of the city, with a stunning view of the Cape May Lighthouse at the south end.

Cape May is a shopper’s paradise, with a range of independent shops, boutiques and antique stores along the Washington Street Mall and nearby streets.

Leave the diet at home as Cape May boasts some of the finest restaurants on the East Coast, catering to every taste and budget.

Go surf-fishing, crabbing and deep-sea sport-fishing in the bountiful Atlantic and Delaware Bay. Dolphin and whale watch cruises are a fun day out with children. The Cape May Bird Observatory is a favorite for bird watchers.

End your perfect day in Cape May by watching the sunset at Sunset Beach, one of the few places along the East Coast where you can view a sunset over open water. In the evening, live music can be enjoyed at the Boiler Room in the Congress Hall and at the Rusty Nail bar.
