House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 4 Sleeps

Casa Cho'hol is a renovated colonial jewel featuring the tall ceilings and patterned pasta tile floors that grace many of Merida's historic homes. The front living room has comfortable seating and tv/dvd cabinet..A light filled gallery leads from the living room to the dining area and first bedroom, bath and kitchenette. Another bedroom is in a separate building in the back with its own bathroom. The house feels spacious even though it is compact and easy to clean for a comfortable and affordable trouble-free vacation.

Outside, between the two buildings,is a small garden with two fruit trees, a fountain and a staircase up to an airy bamboo-topped roof terrace with a view to the sunrise..the perfect place to enjoy your morning coffee. A new dipping pool is being installed on the roof terrace this spring and will be available to all guests after May 24th. Size is approx 4X6 feet so just the right size to relax after a long day of sightseeing around town. A covered patio downstairs also provides a bistro table and chairs to sit if you don't want to go all the way up to the roof.

Un séjour hautement apprécié

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this rental for a week in August. It is an absolutely adorable little house with everything one needs for a great visit. The little garden out back is lovely; I had breakfast there in the morning. You can go upstairs to a private roof garden with a pool and enjoy Merida's rooftops while cooling in the pool(August is HOT). Merida is a fascinating place with lots of cultural sights nearby. One can readily tour Maya ruins and visit a Maya village; the cenotes are beautiful; the hemp haciendas falling into ruins; the towns only a bus trip away; music and dance a pleasure everywhere, and all different from other parts of Mexico. We took a cooking class and toured the market, so much to see! The owner was very gracious, helping with suggestions as to places to visit. I recommend both the city and Casa Cho'hol!

We loved our Merida casita!

  • 5 of 5
We recently spent two weeks at Casa Cho’Hol in Merida. The house was rented through Ruben Ballote, the owner of Yucatan Property Management. We loved the house. It is charming, convenient, and comfortable, with everything up to date and working properly. The house is located 8 blocks from the main square downtown, and 4 blocks from Santa Ana Park. There is a supermarket 4 blocks away, a wonderful concina economica (small restaurant open for lunch) just around the corner, and a convenient tendejon (mom and pop small grocery store) a half a block away. Santa Anna Park also has a number of inexpensive dining choices. The neighborhood is quiet. The house would be perfect for one or two couples, or a family with a teenager. The second bedroom with its attached bathroom is actually in a separate building at the back of the small patio. The patio is very private and enclosed by tall walls. There is also a roof top sitting area which has a shaded top and a hammock for lazy afternoons.

Ruben, who is English speaking, is a real find, and is efficient, helpful, and a good source of information about the area. We highly recommend him, and he has other properties for rent, all of which looked very nice. We can also highly recommend the taxi driver Juan Ortiz, who was contacted by Ruben for a 5 a.m. pickup (we had an early flight out of Merida) and who showed up on the dot of 5.

If you are looking for a house to rent that isn't too expensive but that offers a much pleasanter experience than staying in a hotel, we can’t say enough good things about Casa Cho’Hol and Ruben.
